  • such as in 卒業式 の 式

  • is that "式 as in celebration?

  • Broan13,

Yep, that's exactly right. 「式」 shows up words for ceremonies, like graduation or wedding. It also shows up in words involving format, form factor, style, etc.

  • cool. Didn't know that. Learned two japanese things today from your videos :P

    用 and 式 usages.

  • Well, not a bad price for the plastic one.

I don't know about cameras honestly, but if I did, I suppose I could give some input. Wishful thinking!

  • ManaStar,

Aye, that's the thing. No matter how far and wide I Googled, I couldn't find anyplace that had posted the information I needed for this lens. Might be folks out there who know cameras enough to know the answer, but no one else is posting the info.

Just now I Googled for "Canon WD-H37II lens cap" and this video came up. Mission accomplished.

  • Impossible to find 37mm stuff anywhere. My Sony DCRSR42 has the same size. I might recommend you look for a step down ring from whatever size to 37mm.

Step-up and Step-down rings are essential! They allow you to use filters from your old 35mm cameras. I have used them to make for 50, 52 and 55 mm Haze, Polarize or Florescent filters work.

  • JimmerSD,

The female (?) socket on the camera is 37mm. The wide angle lens comes with a slide-on lens cap on each end. The size of a lens cap that actually fits on the narrow end of this wide angle lens is actually 40.5mm. The metal bits that the lens cap on the narrow end slides onto are actually wider than the screw on male (?) bit. Incidentally I also tried a 37mm slide on but that didn't fit at all, too wide for the screw on bit and too narrow for the metal body bit.

  • Sux that you have to make something work and it turns out costing more than a nickel.

The 37mm stuff will always gouge you. Lucky if you could find an old camera guy that has a bunch of rings and caps and he could make something work for you.

  • JimmerSD,

Aye, there's a few stores around Ginza for classic cameras. Now that I know what size I need I can spend a little more money the when I lose this cap.

  • mine came with a screw on 37(dia thread) lense cap just look for one of those those soft plastic push ons are weird

  • chrishimself84,

Your screw on lens cap, is it male or female? That is, does it screw into the lens or does it screw around the outside of one end of the lens?

  • its female, like the part on the camera itself.

  • chrishimself84,

Interesting. I could have gone for a 37mm screw on lens cap if I could have found one out there. As much as I Googled though, didn't see a lot of 37mm options. Any idea where I could find it?

When you say "mine", you're saying you've also got a WD-H37II? Or a different lens entirely?

  • mhh I bought it on eBay it was a cheap (around 15 Euro) wideangle lense for a 37mm filter.

maybe you can just buy one of those the brand is called "massa optics" and it says made in japan lol so if its 15 on eBay maybe you can find it for cheap somewhere in akiba and just use the lenscap.

  • Duct Tape.

  • 6663000,

    Messy, unfortunately.

  • haha

Yea I agree, I wouldn't risk it on that nice lens.

  • Interesting.

I've got a Sony Alpha 100 and the lens-cap of my original lens that you get with it is a bit broken. (You can push the sides in to remove the cap from the lens, that part)

After seeing this it reminded me to look for a new lens cap as well.

  • TheDutchGaijin,

Geek in me is curious to know if Sony sells replacement caps, if Sony at least tells you what size you need, etc. If you have to go hunting for a spare, might help the world if you make a video about what you find.

  • "Geek in me is curious to know if Sony sells replacement caps"

That's what I wanted to find out as well!

But I did a google search (Sony Alpha 100 lens cap) and found the 3rd link. Not exactly the same cap but it looks good enough.
