CFLs work fine for personal use. You can grow some really dank bud and get baked, that's what matters. a 600w hps also requires ventilation and a good setup that if not done right is a fire hazard. CFLs=easy, cheap and still capable of producing good bud.

your plants look like shit.. thats pretty weak. you could have got so much more off those plants growing in soil and using an actual grow light.. 1 plant under the right conditions will easily produce a QP (1/4lb)

I use CFLs only for veg, its easy, cheap, and if your growing hydro, why not? it works fine for veg. Then while your plants are growing, save up, run to Home Depot and buy some HPS or MH lights for $30.... They put out 6,000 Lumens, remember people it dont matter how many watts your using, its all about lumens!
I use 5 Cfls for veg plus two 40 inch tubes, then I switch to HPS. I use rubbermaid tubs and fish tank rocks in my baskets, not lava rocks.
I thought using CFL's were a waste of time too. My first grow sucked. I used a 400 watt cfl along with 4 120 watts for veg (did well) but then I switched to 300 watt 2700k and 4 120 watt 270's and bud only at the tops and loose. if you get the good kind the package will tell you spectrum, Blue spect for seedling and veg for about 6 or 7 weeks three inches from lights 24/7. that should get them to a solid 2 ft 2 1/2 feet. try to keep clean air flowing and between 75 and 80 Degrees F. you can flower when you want. Indoor growing makes you god!!!!!to flower and produce bud simply change to red spectrum and12/12 light cycle
you did a really good job for using CFLs, your buds woulda been a lot bigger and better though if you were using a CO2 tank in combination with or even just an HPS light.

K now that thats taken care of there are different spectrum for different stages of growth u should know about. For vegetative state your going to wait a spectrum of around 6500k, its going to be a cool white colour. u can buy blue spectrum hps's or u can buy a metal hailde which is great for veg.

I was thinking of cutting a 2 litter bottle, putting the plant in between, taping it back together. Make some air holes in it, and just let it grow as much as it can crowding itself in the bottle. Will it work in keeping the plant small?
yeah you can get thoes lights alot closer. cfls dont burn plants like HIDs do. i got a 125w 2 inches from my plants. no burns plus compact plants= compact colas and more weight. good grow though i can't hate on the end result!:)
Although CFL's are cheap enough that theorhetically you could put in moe CFL's in a more concave grid pattern and go commercial. But really, why take so much space to try to equal an HPS?

Dont bother your arse with cfl's. the 200watt one is good for veg but theres not enough light intesity for big buds, those were pathetic. get at lease a 400watt hps before you make this crap acceptable
Indeed, these buds are a bit sad, probably not all that potent too, get a HPS setup, it makes the difference between 1oz p/ plant to 2-3oz p/ plant, and heavily increases the THC values.

the term Ruderalis right there is telling you that the plant isn't going to be very good. Ruderalis is a type of green that is meant to survive harsh conditions and live in places even in some of the highest mountains. The doubled edged sword of it all is the fact that because it has to face all those stresses, (according to it's genetic makeup), is that it isn't going to produce very much thc...its goal is merely to survive. What have we learned? Ruderalis sux; hybridization is necessary.

ready set grow.......you tube. go to home depot, pick up some 150watt CFLs
if you get the good kind the package will tell you spectrum, Blue spect for seedling and veg for about 6 or 7 weeks three inches from lights 24/7. that should get them to a solid 2 ft 2 1/2 feet. try to keep clean air flowing and between 75 and 80 Degrees F. you can flower when you want. Indoor growing makes you god!!!!!to flower and produce bud simply change to red spectrum and12/12 light cycle

sorry bro your WAY off. i dont evne know what your talking about your so off. if you gonna grow marijuana most likely youll either use fluorescents (tube or cfl) or HIDS (HPS/MH). K now that thats taken care of there are different spectrum for different stages of growth u should know about. For vegetative state your going to wait a spectrum of around 6500k, its going to be a cool white colour. u can buy blue spectrum hps's or u can buy a metal hailde which is great for veg.

I was thinking of cutting a 2 litter bottle, putting the plant in between, taping it back together. Make some air holes in it, and just let it grow as much as it can crowding itself in the bottle. Will it work in keeping the plant small?

yeah you can get thoes lights alot closer. cfls dont burn plants like HIDs do. i got a 125w 2 inches from my plants. no burns plus compact plants= compact colas and more weight. good grow though i can't hate on the end result!:)

Dont bother your arse with cfl's. the 200watt one is good for veg but theres not enough light intesity for big buds, those were pathetic. get at lease a 400watt hps before you make this crap acceptable

Indeed, these buds are a bit sad, probably not all that potent too, get a HPS setup, it makes the difference between 1oz p/ plant to 2-3oz p/ plant, and heavily increases the THC values.
