i have never been a horse racing enthusiast but wow the first time i saw zenyatta race. wow!! she hooked me to the sport, she is an amazing horse and im glad i was able to see her race at her fullest. even though mike smith has said that she still has alot in the tank left. she is truly a freak and what a dancer.

I am quite old and have seen them all come and go. This one is by far the best. I thought Deep Impact was good, but even he is no Zenyatta. I liked Desert Orchid too - only because she is pretty. But she was no Zenyatta. The made a film about Seabiscuit. Sorry. Not near the same class.

Definitely a great mare but in my opinion Horse of the Year has to go to Rachel. But whatever the outcome it is amazing that all the debates about horse of the year concerns two females. Probably the last time two females dominated the sport was in '88 with Personal Ensign & Winning Colors but not to the same degree as this year. This has to be great for the sport.

I don['t think ANY mare has ever won the Classic, which is why it's such a big deal for Zenyatta to attempt it.

From official BC website:"it will be the first time in Breeders' Cup history that a female taking on males in a main-track race as the public's choice. Only three females have competed in the Classic. Triptych was sixth in 1986, Jolypha third in 1992, and Azeri fifth in 2004."

Nothing makes me sadder than thinking about mares like Zenyatta being bred in their physical prime, rather than kept in training. Her schedule has been v. light in '09-she could definitely race in '10.

You have to feel sorry for the other jockeys in the race who know she's coming up behind them, breathing down their necks. It has to be a helpless feeling. She's running probably about 1/2 a furlong farther than most of the others, coming around the field. It's too bad that RA's connections won't let them meet, at least as of now.

She's undefeated and still not as good as Rachel Alexandra. Don't get me wrong, i like Zenyatta but Rachel has shown more versatility over a varierty of tracks and conditions. The day Rachel won the Oaks (in the mud and won by 20 lnegths), Zenyatta's connections were at Churchill Downs that same day and scratched her due to the mud. Plus Rachel has beaten the Derby and Belmont winner in 2 different races... Anyone want to disagree with me???

In her early races I thought she acting up pre-race but it soon became clear...she knows she's the best and she's showing off a little, dancing around. I love that about her. It's excellent to watch how her people just let her be who she is when she starts doing her little dance moves. Rather than upset her, they understand that she'll do her thing and then get on with business. Watch the huge move at 2:48 when she basically blows the doors off the field. I think she's a bit like Secretariat too. Sec won big races on turf and dirt, and Zenny has won Grade 1's on dirt and synthetics. I wish she'd race on dirt more often, because I think her 1 dirt race was one of her very best. I'm soooo glad she's racing again this year. How lucky are us fans? Hey Larry. I really liked Vineyard Haven til he went to Dubai. Pioneer is a cool horse but one of my fav Derby horses this year is Hello Broadway. I think he'll really have a break through performance in his next race. Stardom Bound is great and I think she'll be able to handle dirt (if she does, the boys are doomed.) I'm a big fan of Old Fashioned too. Who is your #1 pick? And I live in Indiana, but its close enough to KY to go down there sometimes and see the horses. :D

Vineyard and Hello Broadway, Old Fashioned are all nice...i really liked Breakwater Edison when he was at the Ocala March two year old sale (too expensive $525k)and i loved his sire Lemon Drop Kid back in the day...i don't really try to find the winner at this time...for me it's finding all the contenders as early as possible (hopefully being able to buy a few of them)...the five i mentioned are the 5 i like best out west...i went to IU in Bloomington from 79-84- that's right i'm old...Hoosiers
