  • That was awesome. LOL

  • As I scroll through the comments, I see typical responses from the advocates of "hate-whitey" racist groups. It's the same race card played over and over and over again. Instead of holding themselves, kinfolk, neighbors, and youth accountable for irresponsible, self-indulging, and uncivil behaviors, they instead invent and propagate an outlet for their own innate and unflattering bigotry. It is stupendously hypocritical when loudmouth racist activists are allowed to speak about race relations

  • As I scroll through the comments, I see the typical responses I expect from the Europeans of America. Its the same outcries of "racism" that are heaped upon other African leaders. And yet you look the other way when your racist news outlets are demeaning blacks. One can only expect this from a nation founded in racism towards anyone not white.

  • Racism is founded on the ludicrous idea that one demography is superior to another demography. This ludicrous idea also suggests by default that one demography must be inferior to another demography.

Therefore, it is utter bigotry when any person, of any demography, makes statements that are disparaging, insulting, and defaming against another demography,

The sooner hypocrites like this Reverend (and certain others) learn to quit expressing aloud heir own flavor of racism, the better!

  • I think you all have missed the point. He is not racist but he came from an era where he was told .."white was right, black get back". He just turned they statement around but listen to the whole prayer

  • Racism is racism and that was racist.

  • Damn racist preacher. "When whites will embrace what is right"? what the hell are you talking about you old racist bastard, if it were not for whites Obama would not be president

  • I got a challenge for everone that likes this speech for the 2012 election whoever the gop runs lets put the race card away. What I mean is if the gop candidate is and he runs an add against Obama let's not right away call it racist he he ran adds against mccain in 08. It seems like President Obama gets away with a lot because he is the first black president. I have another question how many white women and white me represent in court while they were lawyers? Take your racism and stick it!!!!!!

  • 4:31 Clinton for the win

  • Racist black bastard can kiss my ass.

  • Ûhm_ÁñýÕNÉ_wÃNñÂ_chât_wÌth_me_í_fÉÉl_so_lÖnélÿ_tÒdàY∟

  • When this stupid racists passes, a great stink will be lifted from out land.

  • yellow will be mellow?

  • This was one of the greatest speeches I have ever heard.

  • white people lead you away from God so you would kill mother earth

  • This gotta be the biggest congregation of suckers, actors and war criminals!!

  • i just love that speach

  • Here's my impression of the overall reaction of this prayer from white people....

"HOW DARE HE SUGGEST WHITE PEOPLE DON'T EMBRACE WHAT IS RIGHT..... LET ME COMPLETELY PROVE HIS POINT BY EXUDING RACIST GRANDIOSITY AND BUTTHURT"

  • BRAINWASHED ASSED BLACK FOLK THINK IF YOU SPEAK TRUTH ON CAUCASOIDS THAT IT IS RACIST, SO WHAT IF IT IS????

  • wow what a racist speech how embarrassing to us black people

  • "and White will embrace what is right' is Dr. Lowery's closing remark upon of his inagural benediction with a colorful, rhyme crazed, melting pot, erudition. Maybe he could have said "...will [continue] to.." instead, etc. For some, it came accross as not so funny or even a bit scornful. For others, as rooted in Dr. Lowry's own past and his expectation for the future. Regardless, what really matters is what we do going forward everyday, as good people we should strive to be better.

  • I find it troubling that the fact that Barack Obama is African American may have led to debates on things that should or should not have been said/done, both in part of Democrats and Republicans, of Americans of all color and ethnicity. I can see that the last phrases to the prayer, though coming from a man that lived segregation and the civil rights movement, might have been out of context. But I believe that there can be good in people, and maybe the intentions were not to insult, but to unite

  • This was a fucking racist speech. How dare you people defend it, especially you whites.

He basically said "It is time for whites to get it right."

What if a white pastor said "It is time for blacks to embrace what is right" in response to high crime rates, high drop out rates.

Whites who are preaching their "cultural sensitivity" by posting shit like "best speech ever!" Or "This prayer is awesome!" are morons. Lowery is a typical negro racist. Not surprising.

  • @surgedark you sound like a typical racist

  • @jacklemons

    I fight racism with racism.

If niggers want to insult whites, I will insult niggers.

  • @surgedark Then you missed the meaning of what he said. You are just to quick to say something bad, to show how ignorant you can be the very moment you thing someone is saying something against you. Don't be so quick to insult when you don't fully understand what your hearing.

  • Nice speech but this is Worst day in American History

  • They always talk about the global climate or economy. NWO

  • Comment removed

  • That prayer was awesome. It brought you through the history of the human rights and included a lot of things from the civil and human rights struggles.

  • @Blokechest man......we all know your going far in life, have you ever thought that people like you are the CANCER of society? I kind of have a feeling that your I.Q. might be in the double digits as well. If you think that what you say on Youtube has an effect on anything your wrong, maybe you should go jump off of something high and hope it kills you because your worthless and every other word out of your white trash mouth happens to be nigger. why dont you go fuck one of your cousins.

  • And it has been all down hill since then,

  • im so proud

  • @LOWERYSPORTS2010 I'm so sad this scam artist traitorous "american" and subversive muslim with no real alliegance to my beloved country was elected president.

Get out there and Vote people and lets defang this bozo for last 2 yrs left on his term. I think he should be impeached for violating the principles of the constitution but I'll take limiting anymore damage from his unamerican policies.

  • @chillichomper hahahahahaha. you are the reason the world HATES America. You are the ignorant minority. You really think Obama is a Muslim? You are absolutely stupid. You cannot be helped.

  • @jacklemons The will ALWAYS hate america. If america get involved or doesn't get involved in a disaster then its america's fault for either being a busy body or doing nothing. People don't like to admit that things are their own fault or that they have to take care of their own shyt and not look at someone else , who might or might not be better off to solve their problems. You obviously haven't lived long enough to learn this fact. But in your ignorance your a bliss.

  • God have keep us he will keep us thank you as an old child I will never forget from were I came. I am 56 years old black with a son that is black the police keeping and God and my president remind me that the joynery is not over thank you PASRTOR

  • This is a old black saying that was always said in black churches in the south. Nothin racist about it.

  • although it should not matter, i'm white and i LOVE this man. he's not racist, he's the opposite! he's talking about hope; hope that one day, people won't be classed on their colour, that we'll all embrace what's right!

  • loved this. when i heard it live last year i thought he said 'and may the red man get ahead man'

  • It's sad and scary that the leader of the most powerful nation in history has to be inaugurated in ceremony so thick with superstition and supernatural presumption.

Our descendants will look back in jaw-dropped marvel at the persistence of utter ignorance and gullibility in our already-technological era (assuming civilization doesn't collapse first, at the hands of fanatics bent on "holy" missions of violence).

  • It's sad and scary that the leader of the most powerful nation in history has to be inaugurated in ceremony so thick with superstition and supernatural presumption.

  • Amazing benediction by an amazing man

  • what a disgrace! lol

  • If you weren't racist the day Rev. Dr. Lowery gave this prayer, no one, not a single soul had to explain what he meant! You understood from whenceforth we've come and how it intersects with our lives today! The only people who had a problem were the ones who didn't dare to care in the first place! May God Bless the land and the people of this country and May he bless our brethren both near and far!

  • According to his benediction THIS is the new beginning not back in the 50s where the civil rights movements Began. He is saying that THIS is the time where blacks are asked to get in back, and whites still don't do what is right.

If you pay attention to his speech you can see it is not a reference to the past but a claim that this is Currently the case, because we need to work towards the day when we change. Its simple English. Not past tense but Future Tense.

  • For those who dont see the racism, you might not be racist yourself, but the only thing your ignorance of the truth actually proves, is that you are either naive, not able to use reasoning to deduce logical conclusions, or (if you are aware of the racism) you are hiding your own racism by defending it. It is in fact racist to assume that because I am white I don't do what is right (even if many white people have wronged you in the past).

  • awesome speech ! makes me feel great every time I hear it :)

  • @steveN111333 I do not need that racist bum to tell me what is right. Why would he say when white will embrace what is right he was elected because of white people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think you've kind of missed the point buddy !

  • @steveN111333 What would you have said if a Bush Rev. said when yellow can be mellow and the red man can get ahead man. What did he mean when black will not be asked to give back?

  • He said "Get Back" not give back ! Listen more closely.

The speech is about asking everybody to get together to make the world a better place.

  • @steveN111333 No he said when black will be asked not to give back.

  • @jshkendra

I hear " Get Back", give back makes no sense at all :(

  • @steveN111333 Well I know what I heard this is one of those black preachers that Have made a good buck from racism by keeping blacks in the 1800's

  • @jshkendra He meant 'when black will not be asked to get in back'. Rev. Lowery had some great points in saying that white must embrace what is right, meaning treating all people with respect and fairness, regardless of color, ethnic group, or religion.

  • @glenn3rd2004 He said when black will be asked not to give back. It was insulting to say when white will embrace what is right. He was elected because of white people. Yellow will be mellow asian americans are that violent. I am tired of everything being about race!!!! Him wright, rev al, and jesse jackson are all making money by keeping blacks in the 1800's

  • I said it when he made the speech and ill say it again its one of the best sermon/speech's i have ever heard.

  • well said sir!

  • its a godamn joke i tell ya!!

  • Well I am incredibly offended.

  • agreed

  • Hey CLamchowdah I know what is right that old bum doesn't have to tell what is right. I pray for the black community to through black preachers like this under the bus they are the ones making a buck off of slavery!!!!! I never made a dime off of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FluffyFeralMarmot Perhaps you've forgotten the history of the past 1,000 years. If that little sentence was "very insulting" to you... That is pretty, damn, pathetic. The only continent that the European race has not murdered, raped, conquered, bought, and sold is Asia. Did you forget how Africans made it to the Americas? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't by way of a Carnival cruise.

I think that tiny little sentence of white embracing what's right, is more than a little bit justified, no?

  • @FluffyFeralMarmot You're missing the point. I'm pointing out your blindness.

The man that gave this speech is an elderly black man. Think of what he's lived through, how he was treated by so many whites during his younger years (and even now). Therefore... he has a right to say when a white "will embrace what's right", because it is a statement based on FACT, both historically and present day. You have to make an effort to understand the black-american story just as much as your own.

  • So.. You have a memory span that refreshes itself every... 2 seconds? It is true it will always hurt when you decide to stick your head in the oven but why blame that action for your cremated face? It's interesting how you're able to deny the most obvious history lesson and the modern day racial tension it has produced with such ease.

I've never been mugged, beaten or had a car stolen from a black man. So perhaps you provoked each of these scary black men to commit such crimes?

  • Mar-Nov '08, we saw white supremists pack heat, invade town hall meetings, wave homemade signs of gorillas, african witch doctors, swastikas. Obama's head on boxes of waffle mix - sold at a McCain-Palin rally, courtesy of the Family Research Council. On election day, I, a black student, got to see a lynched effigy hanging from the tree of a college's front lawn. CNN was there.

And on inauguration day he said, "may white embrace what's right"... and you don't think it was relevant.

  • All you did is convince me that some black people just want to whine about the past and are not really serious about moving beyond the legacy of racism. Yeah, it sucks that slavery existed and that there are still some ignorant people, but constantly blaming others doesn't help anyone. How do you expect someone to react to a man implying your race is "not right"? I'm sure he feels justifying in saying it, but it's not productive.

  • Oh God. I shouldn't whine about people who do fake lynchings or put people with my skin color on breakfast packages. Frankly, it's just not "productive".

Meanwhile you developed irritable bowel syndrome because an old man wants you to do what's right.

Well next time a white woman calls me n*gger lips, I'll just take an oath of silence, because repeating it might damage the reputation of other white people. Yes, I can see how I will benefit from this new productive manner of behaving.

  • I read your comments earlier to FluffyFeralMarmot and I understand when you wrote that Dr. Loweryage and past experiences have not been kind to him. However, he DOESN'T have a "right" to say that. To invite the idea that he has this "right" gives way to anyone who has faced prejudice in the past to just voice any racist beliefs they have because of some previous racist encounters.

  • Comment removed

  • you need convincing?? LOL!

    Idiot!

  • @ClamChowdah429 Please!!!!!!! Well let's go get a few gangsta rap cd's what is that it is hate music from the projects. It is on all sides and I am sick of it already!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ClamChowdah429 You cannot take the fringe and apply that to all people of one race. How would the African American community feel if some actions of the fringe were the focus of a particular public sermon and a statement was made about all of the race based on those people? There is no way a minister of another race could have gotten away with making a generalization such as this about another race. This sermon was a disgrace and one that is not about unity but one about accusations.

  • @ClamChowdah429 That's not the point, when all those white people did those things they're viewed as racist. When he said that, or any other black person says anti-white stuff, it's never viewed as racist.

  • @RageAgainstNWO Amen to that brother.

  • @ClamChowdah429 Didn't the same thing happen to Sarah Palin? DIdn't SNL make a joke that her husband was sleeping with their daughter? I do believe that a new black panther said we have to kill white people and some of their babies. I think this was one of the most racist things that I have ever heard. He got elected because of stupid white people not that McCain was much better. WHy don't you put slavery behind you we do not live in those times anymore.

  • @ClamChowdah429 Fantastic comment. Really put things into perspective!

  • @ClamChowdah429 Two wrongs don't make a right. Being racist back at whites isn't going to make anything better, and it's not right. There will always be racist groups like the white supremacists. There are also black gangs and mexican gangs who are very racist, especially against white people. Long story short, if it was the other way around there would be a lot more controversy over it. There is no way to justify what this guy said. It was wrong.

  • @ClamChowdah429 Obama was elected because of white people you smuck!!!!!!!!!

  • @ClamChowdah429 Is there not more black on black crime than anything I mean it does happen a black person gets killed by a racist group but year after year there is more black on black crime than anything just look at south central L.A.

  • Comment removed

  • "Think of what he's lived through, how he was treated by so many whites during his younger years (and even now). Therefore... he has a right to say when a white 'will embrace what's right"

Actually NO ONE has the right to be racist. The better man will avoid being racist Despite the racism committed against them. Especially for someone who wants racism to end.

If he has the right to be racist towards people because of his past then does that mean innocent people must now be abused "deservingly"?

  • It's not justified in the present. This is not 1950, the MAJORITY of whites don't go around calling black ppl n***ers out in public in a casual manner, nor are there any segregated bathrooms or drinking fountains.

  • @Volf99 Here we go again. FYI, this little poem is an old song...

So all the other racist acts that happened in the past year, have you spoken out on those as well? DON'T tell me nobody calls blacks niggers anymore. I get called one, my little brother's 12 yr old classmates call him one.

Break it down for me, how is "when white will embrace what's right" so horribly racist? Please. Explain how it's so horrible. Get some thicker skin, at this rate you wouldn't survive a day in my shoes.

  • @ClamChowdah429, where the heck do you live???

  • @BrigHamYun Chicago.

And looking at your profile and seeing the comments you've left on other videos, including a comment where you apparently claim that "blacks are savage monkeys"....

So you should just back. the fuck. away.

  • @ClamChowdah429 You've figured me out little boy. Also, I enjoy hate remarks from my fans, that's why I leave such offensive comments.

  • @ClamChowdah429

Your right, there are ppl who will still call you n ur little brother a nigger. However I find it hard to believe that these situations happen to you as much as they may have happened to your grandparents. I've also been called a cracker, but I don't go stating that because a few black ppl have called me that, that ALL black people are held accountable for the actions of a few.

  • @ClamChowdah429

First of all it IS racist, there is no question of that. While you are right in pointing out what he said wasn't terribly offensive, your overlooking where he said it. If this was just a conversation in someones house it may be pass. HOWEVER, this is during a televised presidential inauguration! So there is an reasonable expectation that those kinds of comments would be omitted from his speech.

  • "When whit will embrace whats right" wasn't even so much racist so much as it was condescending at just plain fucking stupid. White people dont need to be prayed for to be good people, just as black people dont need to be prayed for. People are good, and people are bad. There was definitely a tone here that, to me, and many other people ruined the tone that Obama had set up to that point.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen Omg it was a joke just chill out.

  • Well said Dr.Lowery Amen!!!

  • It's a reference to a Jazz song, which included those lyrics.

  • dumb. please eliminate yourself. immediately.

  • AMEN!

  • well it's looks like your tape of ppls life will get worst.

bc those are who had excludes so many centuries of basic human rights in ur country & abroads. mass majority of ppl wants, equality and justice!

if thats the reason does make your ignorant & fascist lifes so horrible. I don't know wot u gonna do...might you have to suicide, or other option is to learn to respect one than the others & to love the life that God did gave it to all of us... so up to you son:)

  • Like Stephen Colbert said, "That is the best Dr. Seuss book ever".

  • GOD states this world will not get better but worse as time goes by. Read the bible for yourself. Neither will 'different' people not get along, nor will 'same' people not get along. Not morbid, it is bibical truths. Nation will not 'lift up' against nation; sit under a tree and not be afraid?!? Would like to know what bible he reads. There will be no peace till that which is perfect comes. 1 Corinthians 13

  • yes the Bible says that; however, does it not say that we ask the children of God not to try? Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

  • Racist trash

  • That gentle old man reminds me of Hans Moleman.

  • LOL ........love this

  • bigreef:

"most whites who voted for Obama did what was right." Are you serious? So you think you dictate what is right or not. Well, so do I, and the truth is ANY white who voted for Obama did the wrong thing. Who do you think you are, look how Obama is absolutely ruining our country!!!

  • Tell all the white people to get out of africa then maybe they will have a chance!

  • The difference between him saying what he said about white people and white people saying what they say about blacks is this....

HE IS RIGHT AND CAN PROVE IT.

WHITES ARE WRONG AND CAN NOT PROVE THEIR STEROTYPES TO BE TRUE.

Like it or not, what he said is true historically. Whites do need to embrace what is right. They rarely do. FACT,

Cant say the same about other races. Dont shoot the messenger.

  • I don't care who says what, if I white man had said what he said, the media would be all over it...I'm sick of all the racism, and I'm not calling it "reverse racism", what kind of bull shit is that?? In the dictionary, it defines racism as giving impartial judgment to someone because of the color of there skin. He's no reverend to me, Joseph Lowery is RACIST!

  • Yeah and Gandhi was a violent radical...... FOH

  • Fool The Phrase was "When blacks will not be ask to get back" means the back of the bus, last hired and fired. "Yellow will be mellow" means asians will be accepted and not looked down on, "Brown can stick around" means Hispanics can be involved in the ways of American progress. "White will do whats right" means our countries history and treatment of people of color. Most whites who voted for Obama did what was right. But the others who supported McCain needed to have joined them. Amen!

  • He cant be a racist! look the word up in a dictionary!!!

  • This was my favorite moment of the inauguration.

  • You people who dont get what the man is saying i pitty you.

  • Obama is a fascist dictator that is yaking all the power away from the people. as of now he has taken from citizens of the U.S. their private businesses and right of free speach. this crazy old black man is a perfect example of how Barrack wants those poor and lazy to be "entitled" to the money others have earned. IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT

  • 1-20-13 the day we get our freedom back.

  • LOL

  • Great prayer!!!

    Thank you for posting it.

  • The mans comments are ment as a light hearted poke at our current racial situation. He was smart and witty and its a shame that we all could not look past his sarcasism and understand his over all point.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • @GeneralGhost i couldnt've said it better!

  • Isn't it just a little past time that we MOVE ON from this race baiting?? !! C'mon man...sheesh...

  • How come it's only the white folks that don't understand this? Some of you may be less than 10yrs old but remember when black people had to sit 'in the back' of the bus? Etc Etc

  • Whites should realize they are the ones who are going to be discriminated against in the future, and should unite for mutual defense before its too late.

  • definitely; i couldn't agree more. every morning, i wake up and cry for all the white people suffering from discrimination across this great land... both of them.

  • It happens all the time.

Take for example the white man in NY who was beaten by a black gang that shouted racial slurs, or the family in Ohio attacked by a black mob shouting "this country is black".

The media wont cover the stories, but they will whine about some little black brats getting thrown out of a pool.

  • Comment removed

  • this is racist

  • Praying to end the exploitation of the poor and favoritism of the wealthiest was so good. I love pray for world peace and inclusion of Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, and anyone else who is oppressed.

  • "When white will do what is right"... incredible that hate is embraced when it comes from blacks. Apparently it's acceptable for blacks to be racist. This country is finished. Time for war assholes.

  • Thats not a racist comment, it holds a TON of truth. Whites have not done right by not only black people but native americans, all of latin america, africa, the middle east. Learn your history.

  • Its racist BS, Im white, I havent done anything to anyone.

  • Yes, but you are benefactors of the sins of your fathers (and of the government). The Bible says "the sins of the father shall be visited upon the son". What our government does may not be your will but it is done in the name of the American ppl. The bible speaks of this aswell, "born in sin, and shaped in inequity."

  • Well, thats wrong in so many ways Im not sure where to begin.

First, we are "beneficiaries", not benefactors.

    Second, youre beneficiaries as well.

Third, my father never owned any slaves and as far as I know, my ancestors didnt even live in America at that time.

  • "Second, youre beneficiaries as well."

True but for 200 years we were deprived of not only the American dream but basic human rights, and today we are at the bottom of the economic, political and judicial order. Any wise historian will tell you that early America was built on the backs of slaves, lying, stealing, and decieving and furthermore our condition is a reflection of our treatment in the past.

"God made man in his image, then somebody else made a nigga" --Louis Farrakhan

  • Well normally I would argue, but since I have sincere respect for Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, I wont.

  • 4:34 <<These are the droids you're looking for.

  • one of the greatest speeches every

  • such an amazing speech! i dont know why it's not got more views, this is actually fantastic

i dont see how anyone can see this as racist?

  • He had a senior moment and implied white people haven't gotten "it" right.

  • and you think that they do?

  • Obama didn't win just because minorities voted for him.

  • magical speech

    great man

  • Ok ok... It's done.. Relax and get along ye all

  • very good sir...I love you!!1 You knew Barack would be President with your "Good Crazy" speech/sermon - Praise God

  • I don't care if you're black, white, green, christian, muslim, or whatever else you are, this guy was awesome.

  • he cant be a rasicst. he fought for civil rights with MLK

  • Well, he is in good company....with you that is. It can be proven that at least YOU are a racist too, dumb shit.
