  • Thank you sooo much for uploading this! I heard the English version today in my favorite tavern, and i found it on youtube, then i was looking on wikipedia for it, and found the history of this song. I just love it!

    Greetings from Bosnia! :)

  • @irvas87 Thank you very much for your appreciation! I'm glad you like it. Good luck and greetings from Russia!

  • that is what russian people can do when they're not drunk

  • @seemann1989 For your information: Russians have won the Second World War, the space race and they are one of the most educated nations in the world

  • @marike99

That was a joke. I love russian culture and history. Russia is the land of the best musicians ever !

    до свидания de france

  • @seemann1989 Ca me fait plaisir de l'apprendre. Franchement. A bon entendeur...

    salut de Russie

  • @seemann1989 beleive it or not they can do it while they re drunk too

  • the first one is the real one and is the realy best !

  • I'd like to see the lyrics written in RUSSIAN.

  • I think I was Russian in a previous life. I feel so much pain and sadness when I hear Russian, see Cyrillic, Russian architecture, etc. I don't understand the meaning of this song, but I feel like I've heard it 100 times

  • @tuzganraj thank you very much! I'm Russian, but I think I understand your feelings: cordiality and profundity = russian culture. This thing makes it universal and human...I can translate this song for You, if you want...

  • I know marike, end of agust I will be in moscow for a short time.I wil visit historical placeses.

  • @solea212 great)))))

  • Thank you for this song. This song summary of deep russian culture.Spasiva one more time.

  • @solea212 Thank you!! Russians have a very rich culture...

  • excellent work. the melody speaks to us, tho all else be forgotten, erased by a simpletons' progress, the Gypsy warning in all it's beauty that we must not forget how we are, in actuality, on an endless road.

  • @paulhallart Thank You very much for your comment. I'm glad You like it.

  • Super, I always thought it is russian folk song, never heard about "those were the days", Thank You Marike for "cette vidéo et travaillé", sorry for my french which is absent :-)

  • @litava44 thank you very much! It looks like a folk song, but it's not exactly a folk song. A russian romance... I'm glad you like it

  • Vacker sång, beautiful song, beautiful voices.

  • Et puis, c'est beau!! Nostalgie romantique)))

  • Spassiba Marike,

glad you have this russian version here in your chanal... ;-)

    GBY,Ray

  • @Mib50

    Thank you, Ray

  • I think that those were the days was based on this song.... I'mnot saying that they're thesame song..but very similar

  • @Freyja1133 Those Were The Days is actually a cover of this song

  • @galaxymilkyway no,it's not.... those were the days is a different song than this one the melody is the same..But the english lyrics in twtd are terrible... the roiginal speaks of riding in a troika...where is the troika in what you call a cover?

The pop version has nothing to do with this song at all!

Listen to lyrics ,the next time the video of the cover? in playing

they're nothing like the original poem at all !

  • @galaxymilkyway the other those were the days is a rip off, complete with shotty lyrics which were writen by Gene Raskin

  • @Freyja1133 Those were the days is the english/american commercial VERSION of Dorogoy dlinnoyu. The melody is the same (+- arrangement) and the both songs have the same subject: old memories, recollections of youth; without regard to troika or some other details. Beyond all question Ruskin knew the russian lyrics before creating his version.

  • @richpat

    Glad to see you here!

  • marike99

You are still insisting that these TWO seperate songs are the same. They are not,

"Dorogoy dlinnoyu before Those were the days" Well of course Dorogoy was before Days, there is 40 years between them!!

  • more than forty years

  • the before is just the instructions for how to search for the original. he could also write "type in "Those were the days" AFTER "Dorogoy dlinnoyu" ". Why are half of the people on the internet unable to use their brains?

  • @zonk30zonk It's not about using your brain, if the information provided is wrong one can only state that..."Dorogoy dlinnoyu" and "Those were the days" are not the same song, so to say "Dorogoy dlinnoyu before Those were the days" does not make sense.

  • @richpat

  • @marike99 - I see, zonk30zonk is you then is it?

  • @richpat

    no, it's not me )))))))))))

je ne connais pas cette personne

  • Magnifique boulot!

Vous devriez compléter l'article de wikipedia (qui n'est pas nul) sur cette chanson (sous "those were the days...).

  • Merci.
