Harrison Barnes is a polished player with the right tools to play at the professional level, this past year he showed glimpses of what makes him so special at UNC but could not deliever on a consistent basis...thats totally ok, he is a young intelligent player who works hard, regardless of this years draft or next years draft..he will be a pro

If he comes out this year, he'll be a top 10 pick. However, if he comes out next year or the year after, I have a feeling he'd drop to the 10-20 range (which means he'd lose out on $3-4 million).
@OptimusPrime571 I think he'd still go in the top 10 despite having an underacheiving freshman season. You have to remember that NBA GM's select players based on potential quite often. Because Barnes was a consensous top 3 player coming out of high school just a year ago, it's not unfathomable that he'd get snatched up around the 7th-10th pick based on the type of player they believe he "could" become in a couple of years.

the UNC is using him wrong, he`s just doing spot up jumpers, gotta have to set a pick for him, have him run through screens, have him play inside and outside game that`s where he excels. Harrison is a very very very good basketball player I saw him in des moines last year, and the dunks he threw up were unreal. He will be attending North Carolina this year.
Why are you people calling him overrated? The kid is from a tiny Iowan town and is suddenly thrown into a big, big world. Players develop at different paces. Michael Jordan was not that great of a college player his freshman year... he averaged 13 ppg that year.
Give the kid some time. He has a great work ethic and had entirely too much pressure put onto him. I've seen flashes of greatness from him when he is aggressive. Just stick with that and he'll deliver. You watch.

So what if he isnt flashy, hes going to be great in the NBA! As somebody else said he looks alot like Grant Hill. Nothing flashy but will make the right basketball play everytime!
It's his natural skills is what makes him so impressive. Just because his athleticism doesnt jump off the page, thats the only thing a untrained eye could see. the UNC is using him wrong, he`s just doing spot up jumpers, gotta have to set a pick for him, have him run through screens, have him play inside and outside game that`s where he excels. He needs to use that triple threat move more, and work on his driving ability, as of now his first step is very weak. Dude has a wonderful shooting form, he`s just in shooting slump and take tough shots at times...i still think his skillsets are better for the nba than in college

Harrison is a very very very good basketball player I saw him in des moines last year, and the dunks he threw up were unreal. He will be attending North Carolina this year.

Why are you people calling him overrated? The kid is from a tiny Iowan town and is suddenly thrown into a big, big world. Players develop at different paces. Michael Jordan was not that great of a college player his freshman year... he averaged 13 ppg that year.
Give the kid some time. He has a great work ethic and had entirely too much pressure put onto him. I've seen flashes of greatness from him when he is aggressive. Just stick with that and he'll deliver. You watch.

because this kid had so much hype comin in. people said he would dominate college basketball and that he would do the same in the pros. he has not dominated at the college level. he had tooo much hype comin in. bottom line good player but overated comin out of high school

@kidd50 Are you kidding me? Watch the highlights again, he was taking shots with two people in front of him. It looked like he was trying to copy hansblow with that stupid shoulder-heave he would do. He also took 180 fadeaways from near 3 point range. He took terrible shots. He is clearly no All American. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but I'm sick of sports analysts overhyping unc EVERY YEAR. Last year they were #4, called a final four team. Now #8 with the first freshman all american? No.

@masonwinn2 haha this is funny because it shows just how little most duke fans actually know about basketball or their own program. Irving plays a different position than Barnes, so he can't show him up. Irving is one and done, not something that works well in coach k's system. Same goes for Rivers. You will have good seasons, but no title runs with the one and done guards you are getting now.

@MrHighway70 You really want to talk about Duke? Firstly, when unc beat Duke those years, Duke was always ranked in the top 20, and probably the top 10. Duke hasn't been sent to the Not Important Tournament in 16 years, which happened in 95 when Coach K was out with a bad back. Your pathetic tar holes had 17 losses last year and may even have more this year. You'll soon be 4-4 after kentucky. Remember the 32 point blowout at cameron last year? Bet it's 42 this year and a reapeat championship.

Hes unbelievably quick, beats everyone down the floor, and is athletic enough to block guys almost a foot taller than him on a regular basis. Not sure where youre coming from...

unc's season opener vs Barton... Harrison Barnes' stats: 24 minutes played (most on team). 7 points, 6 tournovers, 2-9 FGs, 0-4 Three points, 3-4 free throw, 4 fouls. What a great way to show up. 8 of his team mates scored more points than he did with less minutes. And if you want to bring up assists in hoping he was just dishing it off: ... Only 1 assist. Think I'm lying?

So many people get hung up on highlight dunks and jaw dropping moves...This kid is a great athlete and very smooth for his age... everything comes easy to him. So what if he isnt flashy, hes going to be great in the NBA! As somebody else said he looks alot like Grant Hill. Nothing flashy but will make the right basketball play everytime!

It's his natural skills is what makes him so impressive. Just because his athleticism doesnt jump off the page, thats the only thing a untrained eye could see. He plays ball like he was born to play and has a great attitude and work ethic.Draft express.com has him as the #1 player in the 2011 draft.
