Let's not forget Doris Day was a "Jazz" singer in Cincinatti...Another lady that always gave us gals a standard of how to be during that era...Peace via music...VIVA MARIA!
I absolutely love Doris Day. I was wishing a Doris Day movie was on last night. Her movies aren't shown often enough. I thoroughly enjoy watching her anytime I can.
5FT 7 of the most kindest most beautiful movie legend ever! And How about that perfect voice! Do yourself a favor subscribe to basilnelson the best I have found on You Tube!!
She was and is wonderful, "Pillow Talk" was one of her best. I do see the other side of her "Heidi" image that Zsa Zsa Gabor poked fun at. "Everyone berates me for having so many marriages, but in truth I've only had 3 and Doris Day, the picture of purity, has had 8!"
@sillyboydeux I am not sure when or where you got your quote from Zsa Zsa, but IMDb.com shows Doris as having four marriages and Zsa Zsa as having nine, not that four marriages is something to which to aspire. Still, we both agree that "she was and is wonderful."
the last career honor i remember Doris Day getting was the Cecille B DeMille from the hfpa. She deserves a Kennedy Center Honor, a Honorary Oscar, and Presidential Medal of Freedom for her outstanding career.
I had a crush on Doris when i was 11, had to keep it to myself, my friends would haved laugh at me. Still love her, Que Sera Sera. Thanks for the memories basilnelson
Doris Day, is due an honorary Oscar, she was a triple threat, sing, dance, act. She is one of the only Great stars left from the old hollywood system.
Beautiful. Plus she is still the #1 female box office star of all time! Something like 6-years at the top beginning of the late 1950s. No actress comes close:)
In my impressionable youth, Doris Day along with Gene Tierney and a little later, Audrey Hepburn were the girls I dreamed of at night. My wife didn't appreciate it !
Doris day is my all time favorite female singer and Perry como is my favorite male singer. Both have terrific voices and have stood the test of time.Doris is still with us but alas perry left us in 2001.
How nice it would be if the world was still like it was when Doris sang this.(Secret Love) I use to sing this song aloud when I worked in a hard rock mine. All of the Mexicians who worked there thought I was nuts.
Is she still alive?

Hollywood has forgotten this queen of American comedy'50s-'60s
Deserves the Academy Award for career .... but when? If the academy still had not decided ... well for 2009 Honorary Oscar Award to Doris Day
