My dad had bought a "heng long" 'Tracer' rc heli', and that was awesome. So then he got us one of these wowee bladestar's.
I have to say, the bladestar is a peice of &^£*! you directed it left, so it goes left ...and then swings back to where it was, so you say go forward ...after three feet it gives up and hovers, all it can do is "up, down" and "in your face". (since directions are relative to the controller)
RUBBISH.
also the sensors for the controller are crap, it barely ever recognises
It is not worth $40, you'll be disappointed and bored to tears and will regret having spent the money. This thing is maybe worth $10 to $15 relative to the experience of flying it.
These mini RC toys still need allot of development. Yet another one that lacks decent control. It often flies into walls. In doing so it easily damages it's foam rotor blades ruining it's already poor ability to fly the way you want.
Having purchased one of these I hate to have to admit that I wasted my money, it is rather lame and doesn't fly very well (absolutely zero translational speed). This would be worth $10 to $15 tops.
It hardly moved in sideways directions. It hovers well and goes up and down fairly well but when you're trying to fly from one place to another then it just gets boring because it takes so long. I suppose I wouldn't be so disappointed if I wasn't already an RC helicopter pilot experienced with flying craft that move fast but alas such is not the case.
I read some Reviews that hyped this up a lot... I wanted one so bad, but watching videos of it... It looks like it just Hovers... So I decided I want a DragonFly instead. I hate to assume, but if you've had one of those as well. Any advice on it? Also Thanks for the heads up in your comments above. These things look good to a lot of people, but from what I read... They don't deliver back for the Cash. Lol. ^_^
I assume you're talking about the Wowwee flytech DragonFly, I don't have any experience with that but I have never heard anyone describe it as "boring to fly". From what I have seen it flies fairly well and appears to be quite entertaining. If you have a little bit more money and you'd like to learn how to fly an RC helicopter I would recommend the Blade CX2. As far as RC helis go that one if fairly straight forward to learn and fun!
Actually, a Flytech Dragonfly is the best R/C flying bot I've even flown. It is easy to navigate, and it has two modes; beginner and expert. And, if you ever have any navigational troubles, there is an added tail ribbon for extra stabilization. The only downside of the dragonfly is that it only lasts for 5 mins on a 20 min charge, and the remote uses 6 AA batteries. With each load of 6AA batteries you can only get 6 charges that are at maximum power. Otherwise, everything else is very enjoyable.

I'm shocked to learn this is $50 bucks! I assumed it'd be about $20. It looks pretty cruddy in it's movements ...

Thanks. I actually found a DragonFly for 20$ so I grabbed it. I'll take a look at some Blade CX2 Vids and Reviews. Thanks very much. ^_^
