I applaud your efforts considering the tight space you live in. Does look like you need to move into a bigger place when time allows. Great video! Good luck and God Bless.
When you take it in this direction, take it as far as you can go, make it all you can be because the future is looking very bright and is entirely worth preparing for....
This was really helpful. You gave me a lot of great solutions that I could use seeing as we prep and live in an apartment right now as well as a family of 6.
@mvallin It depends on your definition of bad. My definition includes losing a job, so in that case yes. It's all in your reasoning for prepping. But in the event of something else, I have a piece of land and am going to move to when my lease is up here in a month. I wouldn't call myself a "doomsday prepper" and that isn't my motivation for doing this but if it happens I'm doing all I can to be ready. Thanks for the comment.
ughh anyone having issues with YouTube taking for ever to stream content? I have 17.5 Mbps (20Mbps subscribed) download speed here so there really shouldn't be a problem.
Suggestion for your shelving - we used to have similar type shelves - raise the bottom shelf to level about 1/2 inch higher than the buckets so they'll slide under the shelving & be out of the way & then there will be less empty space between the other shelves as you move them each up a few inches & store the glass jars on the shelves just above the buckets since they are heavier & could break if falling from higher shelf
shelves need to be sercured to wall and a wood guard needs to be on every shelve to protect all from falling off during a earthquake mosut of the stuff in glass you would loose in a earthquake
@MrTerry428 Thanks for the comments. I will take that into consideration. I however do not prep in fear of a big earthquake. I live in an upstairs apartment, if an earthquake that strong hit here I would have a lot more to be concerned with than broken glass. Like the fact that it would be Armageddon since we haven't had an earthquake large enough to be felt here in over 150 years.
@danieljjackson I agree about the earth quake prep caution. Your stores are too close to the door to take a chance. I have been in several earthquakes. For safety of children and others, a few 2x4 would be nice.
@tesskansas in a multitude of counselors there is wisdom. Several people have mentioned that and my wife and I have both dreamed repeatedly about a major earthquake coming. (but that's a story for another video) Thank you, I appreciate the input and I will address the situation ASAP. I am going to Lowe's to get a few 2 x 4's.
Good job! You prove to folks that space limitations should not stop anyone. Just gotta work smart to find places. I know what you mean about not wanting people to know what you have. That's why only a couple of people I know personally know I am on youutube, LOL.
Great job! I am just starting to prep and it is definitely inspiring to see videos of people's work. Thank You! I wonder for the people that say use the buckets like a box spring, would that be to much weight with a person or people on top for the buckets? Thanks again.
@jksatte I am sure that the buckets would be sufficient to hold the weight and act as a box spring as long as you covered the majority of the surface area. I would be concerned to only place them on the four corner, but filling the entire area would distribute the weight evenly enough to do the job.
You could put the buckets under the bed, 86 the box spring. put wood over the buckets and then put the matress on top of that. If you put a bedskirt no one would ever no it was there.
@cpranga9488 We did this and it works great. We fit 15 buckets under a twin bed. The board kept sliding out so we nixed it. The mattress is right on top of the buckets and it's impossible to tell. A bed skirt makes it look like a normal bed.
Very happy to see you storing food in small space instead of making excuse that you just dont have anywere.
My sister in law and brother in law live in a large ranch home on 5 acres 3 car garage and they say they just dont have space for storing food. Its just not there priority.
I have one suggestion I keep all my glass jars on bottom shelves just in case of earthquake here in TN.
It's always nice to have a plan B like that. Thanks for sharing. I have a similar situation in the basement as well. (plan B for hyper inflation)

I saw some nice under bed can FIFO systems at a place called shelf reliance. I just bought the pantry one they have and it holds lots of cans.

so if something bad happens you're just going to lock yourself in your apt. and hunker down for a year?

Next step would be if at all possible, move to a less populated area...good work though. Must be hard in a tight space...
