  • This is why I changed my name. This. This character. Perfect.

  • Adabisi!

  • to me he is walways be adebisi

  • Mr. Eko wasn't one of the best characters. He was the best. He had awesome scenes, backstory, and loveablility. Adawale Akinnuoye- Agbaje(Eko's actor) if you're reading this, I'm sad you left. I really missed you. I was hoping you didn't leave so you could be on LOST for all 6 seasons. Unfortunately, you didn't come back...

I love Mr. Eko and I hope to meet the actor in another life.

  • YOU FUCKING CUNTS! WHY DID YOU KILL HIM? DIE IRL FUCKING CUNTS

    -_-

  • this video is a reply for: why i mr eko my favorite?...too bad he died...the black smoke(his "brother") killed him.

  • have to admit I shed a tear when Mr. Eko died...he was the heart and soul of the show in the brief time he was on it as far as I'm concerned

  • I do not hate the writers at all. Lost is one of my favorite tv show. Just pointing out the fact that this right here makes no sense when you look at the big picture. And things like that just annoy me. They could have avoided to turn the death of such a charachter into an event that does not make sense. And no offense, but if you really think they couldn't then you are only fooling yourself here, I'm sorry to say.

  • @x1711 the actor wanted to leave the show. if eko didn't die then he'd have to disappear forever into the jungle or something, which would've made people super mad

  • Also the writers have openly said that the beginning of season 3, they themselves felt like they were trapped in cages because there were things happening outside of their control. One of them is the network wouldnt give them an end date for the show yet and the other is probably the actor of Eko wanting to leave the show.

  • Mr. Eko's death is yet another thing that does not make any sense in Lost.

At least not after the final season.

The Monster killed him. So he was not a candidate.

I mean, really ? Mr. ****ing Eko was NOT a candidate ?

How in the world could he not be one ? He was Jacob's perfect successor !

It really is a shame Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had to leave. Mr Eko had obviously a great potential.

  • @x1711 it does make a lot of sense, actually. Eko was MIB's plan A. He was going to use him in the same way he ended up using Ben, to kill Jacob. Similar to how he used Alex against Ben to get Ben to do his bidding, he was going to use Eko's grief and guilt over Yemi to manipulate him. That's why this scene is so important. Eko says he's not sorry for anything, therefore MIB has nothing to manipulate him with. So MIB gets pissed and kills him. That said, I agree. Awesome character.

  • @kyleclassics What you're saying makes perfect sense. But only if you assume that Eko was not a valuable candidate to Jacob's succession - because if he had been, MIB couldn't have killed him directly. Jacob said the candidates were chosen because they were flawed, alone. Eko was flawed and alone - maybe more than any other survivor actually, considering he was responsible for the death of his own brother who he loved more than anyone. Yet he was not chosen. That's what makes no sense to me.

  • @x1711 Look at it this way. Eko was probably a candidate. The writers have said in interview that they had a 4 season plan for Eko but unfortunately the actor wanted to leave the show for good for personal reasons. So the writers hands were tied, so they probably just made him no longer a candidate and killed him off in the most badass way they could. You can hate the writers for it all you want, but its not their fault.

  • AWOOOOOOOO

    I love the smoke monster!!!

  • Mr Eko was the best character in the entire 6 seasons of lost

  • @collygirl2 you're right...

  • why wasnt he in the afterlife on season 6?

  • letting ecko die was the most stupid chose they could have maked...

  • "I...saw...the...devil"

  • @Delmothop If you think about he really did. The Black smoke was the devil, (black stone) and Jacob was God (white stone)

It wasn't random jibberish, that he spoke it was the actual representation of evil on the island/the world.

  • "I did not ask for the life that I was given..but it was given nonetheless...and with it, i did my best..." In my opinion this is one of the greatest lines in LOST history

  • @TheTampleSmoke i dont think eko died cuz of not being sorry for his sins when the man in black and jacob arent even catholic theyve lived on the island their whole lives and dont have religious beliefs the man in black read his mind and saw eko was a goood person and knew he would hinder his chances to get off the island

  • Mr Eko wasnt supposed to die. He was supposedbly an As to work with, so they worte him off the show. His chracter was going to have a large back story but they simply did not want to work with him

  • @chakrammaster That's not true he was killed because he didn't want to have to live in Hawaii to do the show so he asked to leave.

  • adewale akinnuoye-agbaje who plays eko wanted out of hawaii so he asked the LOST creators if he could be killed off...eko was originaly supposed to last to the end of season 5 and was supposed to be a calm passive priest but when the creators saw adewale they knew he had to be more aggresive

  • i still don't know why Eko died?

  • @kreepmaster *SPOILERS*

the man in black decided that eko wouldnt help in killing jacob or in any of his plans as he was a good man, and maybe detrimental to his progress in corrupting the other people on the island, he then decided to kill him

  • @adas1023 thanks:)

  • @TheTampleSmoke It isn't often that someone of significant intelligence and inspiring religious dedication comes along like you. I completely agree that you must apologize for all human survival instincts and inherent flaws. We may not be able to control our genetics, but certainly we can override our tendency to do anything and everything to live, in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Mr. Eko was a moral-less man without any common sense and should have certainly died.

  • Hes right, hes not your brother.

    That's the man in black.

  • i just finished season 3, Eko was by far the coolest character and the strongest one although i loved the calmness around him. he was the wise guy, speaking slowly and few but significant words.. moreover he is too handsome to be true-i'd gladly marry him :-p i hope he gets back regularly on flashbacks or something :( so stupid they killed him so early..

and the "you speak to me as if i'm your brother" quote was indeed too early revealed

  • "You speak to me as if I am your brother" = huge mythological piece of the Lost puzzle. Smokey is People! It's a way-early explanation about the big mysteries of the island for people who are paying attention.

I'm just wondering why Smokey A) didn't kill Eko the first time B) why Smokey killed the French landing party / pilot C) why Locke saw a "bright white light" (which may be kinda explained as Smokey can change shape)

  • @ohsodreary He didn't kill him the first time because he saw evil in his heart, but the second time, he did not want to be forgiven as he was just "protecting his brother". So smokey knew he wouldn't be able to turn him and aid him in the war, so he killed him.

  • Yes, bring him back God damn it. He was my favorite!

  • This is mythologically one of the most important moments of the show in light of the incident. Spoilers, don't read if you haven't seen the first 5 seasons...

It's obvious when Mr. Eko says "who are you" the creators had already come up with the idea Jacob and the Man in Black. It connects so well (despite the fact they had to write it on the spot!).

Locke assumes "You're next" is plural, but what if he meant singular - Locke himself will be a victim of MIB, or "the devil."

  • I loved Eko so bad. He was definitly my favorite character and still is. He was the reason I watched LOST.

  • @nkimnkim Hopefully he'll be back for season 6 :D

  • The scene of a young Eko back in Africa (heaven) with Yemmi is one of the reasons that LOST is my favorite show. There are few producers that have any creativity these days. This is beatuiful.

  • 4:05

incase anyone wondering, Eko says "i saw the devil."

    then says "your next."

  • Eko is a god

  • well they say good people die first, gues smokey was just deliver'n em to heavan

  • Shame that Eko had to die so soon, even when its still early in the third season.

  • The actor asked to be written out

  • Just like on Oz, the actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje requested to have his character killed off. Definitely makes you think of the character more, and all that could have been.

  • Now this is superb TV, I was a bit let down in season 5 when we didnt get as many of these moments

  • @Thewarrior26

although you posted 6 months ago i agree, season 5 didn't have as many ''moments'' as other seasons, they could have made Faradays death ALOT sadder.

but season 5 was just setting up the platform for season 6 which atm is pretty damn good so far.

but seriously Eko was unreal, its bent the way he wanted to leave like Rouseaa

    SPOILERS*****

supposedly she was meant to have a big part overall too so now Claire is filling her part, or so the rumor is

  • R.I.P. The best character of Lost with no doubt.

  • Mr Eko was one of the best characters to actually be on the show. And it's a damn shame he had to leave because he would've been awesome in every other season. He had the best backstory and everything, awesome character from start to finish.

  • Too bad the actor playing Mr. Eko wanted to leave Lost. I heard the writers really wanted to make Mr. Eko a really big character on the show with major impact.

  • I think everything is connected with Egyptian myths.

  • The smoke monster is Jacob's enemy

  • Comment removed

  • BRING BACK MR EKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Mr. Eko.

  • He whispers "I saw the devil" and locke says that he said "You're next"

  • Mr. Eko is awesome, he was my favorite character and I was sad when he died.

  • mr eko was the coolest fucking character ever on this show

    so sad when he died

  • is his brother ment 2 be the devil?

  • no its the "smoke monster" that can look like anything he wants, we'll probably see more later on in the seasons to explain it.

  • I love this show, and this scene affected me so much. At first I thought Mr. Eko was a bad man (portraying himself as a preacher in order to steal from the village he lived in), but I came to understand why he did what he did. He admired his brother, and blamed himself for his death. Because of this, he was willing to do whatever he could to honor his brother's memory. That's why when you watch this scene, it's as if Mr. Eko died even before his death.

  • His death was so confusing! Is he in heaven with his brother now since is showed that clip of them walking together as kids? Or is he in hell since he was stubborn and did not think he needed forgiveness right before he died?? Does anyone know what happened with him?

  • wow its creepy when he says "You speek to me as if i were your brother"....anyways eko's confesion was great. best character ever!

  • I saw the devil thats what he said

  • its so terrible seeing him and his brother in the past when they were kids because i have a big brother too. it must be terrible to loose

a brother. and than i think of the horrible past they had in africa

its so sad that mr eko and this brother died

  • Eko was the shit. Truely missed

  • what did mr eko say to lock

  • You're next.

  • Listen carefully, he actually says "I saw the Devil"

  • it seem like at the end he says the word "Devil", but it depends on how you hear it.

But, if he said that, why would locke lie about it?

  • Because Locke believes it to be God, because he believes the Monster gave him his ability to walk again.

  • Why is Eko afraid when he sees the black smoke? In the episode "The 23rd Psalm" of Season 2, the black smoke confronts Eko and Charlie in the jungle, but Eko doesnt run but just stands there looking at it and says afterwards, in his own words, "I was not afraid". Yet when he saw it this time, he was clearly afraid!

  • Probably due to the initial shock of seeing his brother alive on the island, and then due to the malicious nature that he seemed to portray.

  • His death was so confusing! Is he in heaven with his brother now since is showed that clip of them walking together as kids? Or is he in hell since he was stubborn and did not think he needed forgiveness right before he died?? Does anyone know what happened with him?

  • heaven and hell wtf?

  • It was most likely him thinking of a good moment he had with his brother as he died.

  • i think that his brother represent "GOD", and when MR EKO does not appologize por his sins, he gets angry and send him to hell. thats why the "SMOKE" take him.

    just what i think

  • eko must be afraid to die because in the real life, his fathers had died, and he wants to finish his job.

  • a spectacular piece of acting

Mr. Eko was the best character on Lost

  • eko was killed off the show because he did not want to be on the show anymore

  • Mr. Eko is my favorite LOST character. He could kill you with his fingers if he wanted to.

And another thing: Mr. Eko should not have been killed by The Black Smoke: he should have died after taking 50 bullets while killing 70 'Others' with his Jesus stick and his bare hands.

  • dude hell yea lmao

cheers mr eko was the best.

  • I stopped watching at the end of season 2.

Do they ever find out what the cloud think actually is?

  • Hasn't been revealed yet.

  • eko said "i saw the devil" not "ur next"

  • how do u know that?

  • Damn Smokey, miss Eko on the Show

  • hey lets take a very well written and acted character and kill him with a cloud no wonder people started hating lost

  • I loved eko! I hated it when he got killed off

  • Mr Wombosi :P

  • eko musnt die :(((

  • it's such a sad ending

  • oh eko

  • One of my favorite scenes on LOST. A memorable, unforgettable scene, before Eko's permanent departure.

  • Whoever said it's his "permanent departure" the island has special healing powers ya know. There could be a twist where he comes back. Unlikely, but still a chance.

  • *sniff* EKOOOOOOOOOOO! *Sob*

  • One of the most missed characters. I wish they would bring him back.

  • Long Live Mr. Eko. Wish there was a way to bring him back alive

  • this is such a great scene, i just wish eko was still alive. he was the best character

  • GO ADEBISI!

  • Eko's confession is one of my VERY favorite scenes of lost. lost=greatest show ever

  • this was like one of the most touching scenes in lost ^^

  • why did it kill eko?

  • The theory that i subscribe to is that the monster as Yemi "Judged" him as not being worthy because of his lack of remorse for his life of crime, and for that killed him.

  • the actor wanted off the show.

  • Wow, Heart wrenching that is, I cant stop crying

  • Sääli, Että Ekon näyttelijä lopetti näyttelimisen Lostissa. Hän oli yksi sarjan parhaita hahmoja Locken jälkeen. Rest in Peace Mr. Eko...

Kunpa joku tuhoaisi tuon tyhmän savupilven!

  • Nyyh, surullinen klippi. Vihaan lostin kässäreitä ikuisesti >:(.
