  • It felt like being in a 3rd world country seeing all of the military choppers passing over us headed to N.O. and not us, while we were still digging through the rubble and trying to find survivors, I lost a lot of friends, it still brings tears to my eyes.

  • I miss the only place I felt at home. I was 2 blocks from the beach on the waveland side of the bridge that went from BSL to waveland when it hit, inside a rickety house with my co-worker and her 2 kids.

We never realized how bad it was going to actually be.

  • You are 100% correct. Waveland was ground zero. I was there with the North Carolina SMAT Team. We sat up the field hospital in the KMART parking lot because Hancock County Hospital was shut down. New Orleans received way to much attention. The people of Waveland and the surroundings areas never acted like what you saw going on in New Orleans. These were the most respectable and gracious people you could ever find. Thank you for letting us help you! You just had to have been there.
