we are doing this for iowa all state and our instructor told the men that this song should be sung in their chest not in falsetto becasue falsetto would be too pretty and that's not what this song is about.
The voices sound a bit young and could be rounded out a bit more, but you did well overall. and some dynamics and speeds could be revised a bit as well.
After listening to the video again, I notice that the Tenor section sounds a bit like they are in slight pain because of the range in the song. I agree it is very high, I am singing it in the Men's Ensembles I am a part of, but we have falsettos and can go into full voice when we are loud enough. Use it!
my friends choir just sang this and i think that you are amazing! we had stroope come and direct us! it was completely amazing! our choirs have sung in china too, at the olympics... it that stroope?
this song is simply amazing. im in the honor choir at my school (all girls) but the school that is right next to us (all boys) sang this song last night at our concert and it was outstanding. i fell in love with this song!

The ISU Men's Glee does not have auditions to join. Anyone can join with no experience necessary. The semester of this filming we learned 6 songs (check them out on my youtube page) in less than 3 months with practicing twice a week an hour at a time. With all that in mind we rocked this song rhythmically and dynamically
I used to be in a group like that. When that happenes its up to the singers to go home and do their homework. I'm not being cruel. The choir that i'm in has a VERY big reputation. I'm in three different choirs, one is an advanced choir, so i have to learn easily over 20 Pieces of music in about a month and a half. But with all that in mind you guys did really decent.
I agree with you 100%. This group is not super amazing. However, for a group that consists of anyone that WANTS to sing whether they are good or not, it does alright. Saying it sounds like a high-school chorus is a bit harsh though...

Also take into account the fact that an inexpensive camera will not have the audio performance that is needed to film singing.
