@Master100Mind: Fred Eaglesmith wrote this song. It's on his 1987 album Indiana Road. Many times before he plays this song in concert, he gives the introduction that he wrote this song, went to his bedroom and waited 25 years until somebody else came along to make it a bluegrass hit.

The day Fred was in Glasgow I had just been to such an auction that day. I sang it in my head all day as a result. Great song.
