No,i don't think this is great,is only technique, nothing else. This execution is completly without musical expression! He is just pushing the keys,"he is not singing".The most difficult thing is the expression, because you can't learn it,even playng 10 hours a day.
Listen for example this:
"Jeffrey Lee playing Scriabin Etude op 8 no 12”
he has not a perfect technique like berezovky, and he is just a child but he is so expressive! This is a musician! Don't read only the name, listen to the music too
@molecoladimollica No offense, but your comment is ridiculous. Beautiful technique equals beautiful music, and beautiful technique is learned only through rigorous practice. Boris Berezovsky is a brilliant technician and (because of his brilliant technique) he plays this piece beautifully. Jeffrey Lee does a nice job too -- I'm sure he's put in lots of practice :)
lol, i laugh of the people who like to criticize, please, upload the video playing the piece to show us and the pianist/Berezovsky in this case)how it should be played!!....mmmm maybe thats why he´s such a famous artist!!...or not?
I like Horowitz performance more. he doesnt play as fast as this, but the piece get a whole lot of more power. By playing this fast his fingers are a lot closer to the keys. He loses the melody of the piece in my oppinion.
Hear Dinor Varsi's slower thoughtful supremely phrased version much finer in my mind to this .But a few more listens andIm sure ill find what his rushed up phrases mean.Dont feel it and it gets to the climax without me feeling the real changes.even Cortot makes better sense and I really feel this is not his type of music making thous his Franck and supposed Scryabin4 and 5 sonatas were great.
I like the power of this one, although the magic Horowitz pulled with this piece can't quite be matched. I find the Kissin version too mechanic and he seams to treat it as a show-off piece, forgoing the 'patetico' aspect. I've heard him treat Chopin with more respect.
berezovsky is amazing as usual. this piece seems almost too easy for him. it's sort of strange how much this performance has in common with scriabin's own recording of the piece.
Did you guys listen the Yoana Karemova version?? Much better than this one in my opinion!

it didn't mean it in an unfriendly way.I adore Berezovsky's genius and don't care about that wrong note because the right notes sound so right.

Не впечатлил. Хотя Бобик - пианист прекрасный.

really very underwhelming performance. Must say that Horowitz does own this one.
cashkenazipiano 10 months ago
@cashkenazipiano I wouldn't say that. He plays the piece extremely well. Horowitz playing is just simply legendary.

@Ianthe22 I agree, I think the reason for this is he was taught by Scriabin, so he had a tremendous insight.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz, gross, distorted playing as usual from this pig.
What a waste of talent, this practice of pulling the music all out of shape and passing for "interpretation" these days is destroying music.

There's a glitch around 0:56!
Also try the Nikolai Lugansky rendition, live in Tokyo. As faultless as it can be and letting the music flow like virtually noone can!

I believe that this is the best version of this particular piece posted on youtube; Kissin's version places a close second.
