  • does it work with game genie

  • Comment removed

  • Спасибо за обзор! Первая игра, показаная здесь - Golden Axe. С неё я начал знакомство с Sega больше 10 лет назад. Помню как покупал приставку вместе с этой игрой... Ностальгия ))

  • Anyone know if this is variable voltage? Just received mine and UK standard voltage is 240 and the ac adpator says 120. Don't want to fry it. If the cosole is variable then perhaps I could change the adaptor for a 240 volt. Most electronics are worldwide voltage and say so on the back but this says nothing.

  • Nigga, 4:35 the sega genesis ALWAYS had SHITTY sound.

  • @Spocktavian You have to remember the MegaDrive was developed in 1987 or 1988 and it was released around the world between 1988 and 1990, technology has come a long long way since then, the graphics and sound capabilities are better than the NES, but not quite as good as the Super NES, that's progress for you, just remember that, there's no real need to use offensive language like that.

  • @Lachlant1984 only pussies get offended by words

  • Where's a good site to buy Genesis games?

  • @NonstopRam amazon ebuy and well shops in real life like chaity shops and pawn shops

  • @scenscoff thanks

  • @NonstopRam and if your in america ( i'm not i'm in the u.k so my genesis is called mega drive ) thrift stores and you can always find video game shops glad to help

  • I own cool spot and spot goes to hollywood. :) I beat them both with no cheats.

  • Does anyone else have a very low resolution screen? Please respond, I need to know if mine is broken.

  • Sonic 3D and Columns aren't in the system

  • The GenMobile is perfect, love having it on the train on the way to work to get my splatterhouse2 fix. I would not expect anything more in terms of quaility for the $50 price tag. It is what it is, a mobile geniesis. It's not like you are going to use this as your home console, then you will be disappointed! This baby plays for hours! I have never timed straight thru it but I went a good 4days playing it on an average of 1 and a half hours a day and then I finaly had to charge it again.

  • The Firecore and Genmobile are licensed by Sega.

  • Is there a headphone jack?

  • yeah well, Nomad is bigger but its actually a Genesis, this other ... thing ... is a shitty Genesis-on-a-chip so they can reduce the main board using one single chip with horrible sound/graphic quality

But i guess is ok for most people, anyway Gameboy Micro is smaller and emulation deserve more quality than GOAC stuff

  • I knew the sound was going to be bad but it's not as atrocious as I expected.

Really these console-on-a-chip clones are just emulators, you're just using a physical cartridge instead of a ROM.

  • COOL SPOT! yeah man!

  • この動画にレスポンスを付ける...

  • i heard the new genesis home console clone and the new sega handheld psp wanna be close are bad quality, just buy an old gamegear or nomad, or buy a psp and just download the old genesis games onto it. if its not jap made its crap.

  • it looks like a psp knock off, or a wanna be 2nd generation game gear. if it was offically made by sega id buy it, fuck that

  • these are not lisenced by sega, its just another copy made by chinese to sell to the povo kid market.

  • @tom3999 Actually, this is an officially licensed SEGA product. Surprisingly true. A quick google search will tell you this. It is listed at Amazon as officially licensed, as well as many other websites. Of course, you can't really always believe what you see on the internet, but when numerous websites report the same about the product, this is pretty reliable information to go by. Also, to the side in related videos, you will see some people reporting it as official.

  • I'm addicted to your channel. For some reason I find myself fascinated with retro games and consoles. If I had the money I would buy a lot of these but for now my modded xbox with emulators will do. I've got an snes with a small collection but my nes bit the dust a few years ago unfortunately.

  • i agree , im more of a computer guy, but i find the retro sega stuff very kool for its time.@johngeetar

  • i got it but it didn't come with instructins for no fucking reason.

  • I still like my Nomad better.

  • The GENmobile is most likely an emulator. :P

It's not likely that it has Genesis hardware inside it.

  • If you want to get a portable genesis, buy the sega nomad.

  • But, did I hear you say that if the battery dies, the system craps out and doesn't work again? Can you explain this? Like, if the battery goes out because you played past the charging limit, it'll die and you'll never be able to play it again? Or, do you just mean that after a few years of using this, when the internal battery dies, it won't work?

  • I'm getting this for Christmas!!! We had to purchase it a few months ago, these things are selling like hotcakes... I got to test it out, in case we had to bring it back. It plays foreign games O_O I ordered Puyo Puyo Tsuu in from Japan, and it worked great! However, I noticed that no matter what region game I'm playing, or what game I'm playing, the sound is a bit higher or lower than the original pitch (Original being played on a Genesis). Whatever, it's not like it doesn't have sound.

  • how can you have a portable genesis without TRUXTON?

    this is useless, lol.

    no but honestly... truxton... :'(

  • My little cousions have this.

  • The sound is lower pitch...why is it so low pitched? Does it sound normal while you play it and it was something wrong with filming it or what?

  • @Zawicki1 Thats how the system sound. It is a lower pitch. shabby sound quality.

  • hey nice video i actually just orderd my gen mobile today off ebay i hope its as fun as it looks

  • Actually it's a brief second at 1:56 I hope that helps you.

  • Also at 1:57 your voice needs to be sync as well just to let you know because it's kind of hard to understand you while your talking just to let you know.

  • At the beginning of your video your voice seems a little out of sync while your talking could you fix that please thanks.

  • you look kinda funny without ur hat

  • Games stick out less then the Nomad don't it?

  • hey gamester do you know where i can get a snes portable

  • I have something very similar called the Retrogen (There's a pun here somewhere)

  • hey any possibility of 2 player with this gizmo?

  • @pferratier2 No sadly no two play ability.

  • @Gamester81 You could still mod it :D

  • I might get me one, I just wish that M*U*S*H*A was one of the built in games, it probably wasn't because 1) It was unexpectedly unpopular, but yet an amazing game, and 2) It was an EXTREMELY RARE game! If you want a copy, save about 80 bucks or more and go to eBay.

  • wow now i can play genesis on the go thats awsome

  • im gonna get one. so if i were to put in a super street fighter 2 genesis cartridge in it, it would work just like your cool spot?

  • golden axe 3 wasn't released in the US only in japan the only port that is transulated in english that i know of is in the sega genesis collection for the psp

  • I do have to say that the system has a great library of built in games. Good stuff.

  • The nomad was a great handheld. I still use mine from time to time. Although it is sort of large, it was great for its time. I prefered the Game Gear over the nomad overall, but both were great.

  • Based on this video (as I have not had the chance to play this handheld) the button layout is weird. It would have been better if they laid it out more like classic Genesis controller style. I do have to admit that the screen is pretty nice.

BTW how is the sound when hooked up to headphones?

  • Wait, it won't work if the battery dies? Why can't you just recharge it?

  • @HumanDaikon what he means is that if the battery truly dies where it won't work or charge anymore hope i helped.

  • it does use emulation

  • Out of the Genesis Sonic Games 2 is my favorite, some of the newer ones aren't bad either, Unleashed is pretty good

  • Looks pretty neat

Have only ever owned one hand held , and it was a SEGA GAME GEAR hand held - great little gadget

  • buyyyyuuyiiuinyxcfxtgdyutftetgrtttyyhturyterreeresfzwsakiwloq

  • I just bought this... and I like it. The sound is not good though, in many games the sound emulation is poor. The D-pad doesn't work great with shooters either. But, the screen is colorful, and I like the 6 button layout. It played every cart that I tried on it, except my Japanese version of Curse was very slow. Overall, it's more of a novelty item than anything else, but still cool.

  • Thanks for your reply, and I may buy from them in the future.

    Thanks for the great vids.

  • Site looks pretty awesome. Has anyone had problems with them before, because I am planning to buy some stuff off of them.

  • I didn't have any issues with the site when I bought this thing.

  • @Gamester81 shipping is like 30 dollars for me cause i live in uk...

  • @Gamester81 sega gopher is like this....but with an sd card....i put a summary of the gopher on ur channel

  • @SNKFIGHTING i just got mine and im having a little troubl;e putting the cartridges in

  • I thought about picking one of these up, but I think I'll stick with my Nomad, even if it weighs like 5 pounds with the battery pack haha

  • yeah golden axe rules

    love the music

  • obviously this is not officialy licensed, not because it is made in China (everything is made in China nowadays) but the thing just seems so generic... and the label with "Sega Genesis" shows that its just a generic (OEM) clone.

  • It may not be. A Chinese company "AtGames" has the official license from SEGA to design and manufacturer Genesis and Megadrive consoles and handhelds now.

And the list of games built into the GENmobile is exactly the same as the list of games that were officially licensed to AtGames aswell.

  • looks cool, but seems a bit small and cheaply made, doubt its official, esspecially if its made in china, but id probably buy one if it was cheap enough.

  • Hey can you post how long the battery life is? I might buy it but im not sure. i miss playing the genesis, i lost mine when my parents didnt pay the storage bill

  • WOW!!!

  • I miss owning a genesis that i had in 90's.Afther watching your review for the, newgen mobile i may pick one up now.

  • wow sonic and knuckles sounded weird especially when u get the rings, didnt sound like the original sonic and knuckles sounds

  • i like cool spot allso

  • Do want!!

  • Wow... very nice! I think I would prefer a Nomad but that is a nice looking handheld mate. Im pretty sure that cant be made by Sega as they said they would not be making any more consoles? Cool cheers ;o)

  • they license out the rights to produce consoles based on the previous consoles they have made though they themselves dont make it

  • Doesn't look half bad, safe for the awkward buttons and the terrible sound; Sonic & Knuckles sounded especially off.

  • omg i would trade my nintendo ds lite

  • compair this to the retrogen please =)

  • I really want to pick one of these up, but man, the size of those buttons and their layout really turns me off.

    Great review as always!

  • thanks for the review and info...since any nomad i have found is totally messed up

  • This little system sounds like a win. I will be purchasing one of these bad boys next year. The new Sega Genesis clone does not sound like a very good system IMO. I just got a Sega Gens model 1. And am enjoying it thoroughly. Also have Ultimate Sega Genesis collection on the PS3. Great review!

  • I want this REALLY badly

  • ooh the sound isnt great. once i heard the beginning of sonic and knuckles i sorta flinched. maybe its just the speaker tho

  • I got the Nomad so Im cool

  • That's looked pretty nice dude! I don't think I will buy one of these tough, cause I have my genesis and mega driveat home :P Nice review :)

  • I always wanted a Game Gear as a kid but I never got one. I had a Gameboy but I just liked the Game Gear better. Good video. I like how cheap it was.

  • i hear ya buddy, back in the mid 90s, only a handful of the lucky kids got the game gear, i hear ya loud a clear, thats why i grew up and bought one off ebay! lol@JasonJ25

  • hmm seems to be region free to : )

  • nice

  • The unit does have poor sound quality, I recently demoed a unit at a local swap meet. It almost sounds like the crappy renditions of the Sega Jampacks for Dreamcast. I'd much rather play emulated Sega games on the PSP.

  • Pretty nice looking system. How does is sound through headphones?

  • This system is made by Hyperkin. But it's licenesd by Sega. (I THINK)

  • Awesome review! Keep up the good work!

  • It is off for sure, but not that far off, IMO. And it's gotta have better battery life then the Nomad! I like the fact that it can play Mega Drive games.

  • Hey, your user name jumped out at me..i have uploaded a vid you may be into :)

  • Yeah the sound is for sure off on this unit. But I hear the screen makes up for it. I noticed that there is a USB input on it. Is that just used to charge the unit similar to a PS3 controller or can you also transfer roms to the unit?

  • They make a 15-in-1 region free console as well - the sound is terrible. It seems to have some channels missing, no doubt a cost cutting excersize, I really hate that company! AT & T could have made some great hardware here but chose to rip people off instead.

  • "AT Games" sorry.. I didn't know this was a Chinese company (thier products sell in UK shops at x2, x3 the price as online), I got it home and saw that 'sad onion' logo on the back and my heart sank.. The sound is dire on these things - don't buy it!

  • Sounds like that console would be good. Only if the sound was good. The GENMobile sounds like a total win!

  • looks pretty cool

  • Terrible sound quality/emulation; G.Axe's music is played in an entirely different key!

  • Wow that thing looks awesome. I might get one of those. I love Golden Axe also, and I noticed Altered Beast in there. 5/5

  • Yeah I've been looking at the Retro Gen and the Gen Mobile. Both similar but the Retro Gen has a bigger screen, while the Gen Mobile has a better D-Pad and the 20 real Sega games built in. The sound is off in both so that's the same. I don't mind the smaller screen so I'm leaning to the Gen Mobile but still not sure if I want to spend $60 on it. Who knows I might grab one.

  • For $59 you really can't go wrong especially if you are looking to play a Sega Genesis/MD game on the go.

WIth respect to sound, you get what you pay for and personally I don't feel it's a big issue for a handheld product. I usually turn the volume very low or off if I am transiting.

  • Wow, the sound on this machine is FTL!

  • hmm...i was thinking about getting the nomad..but maybe i should get this :D...its pretty cool

  • Nice I may pick one up.

Funny u would pick Golden Axe.

    That was my next episode.

  • Glad to see you are doing okay man.

Awesome review on this portable console. Might get me one of these.

    KEEP ROCKIN! \m/

  • Handheld Genesis > Gamegear

The Noamd may have been bulky for a handheld genesis; but the GENmobile is just the thing!

Besides, my GP2X is much narrower and emulates Genesis at fullspeed!

  • I was going to buy a Nomad, but what wins? a Nomad for £109 or a boxed gamegear for £26.99.

  • Only fifty nine dollars.

  • Wow, that things is tiny! That kind of sucks about the cheap sticker. They should have painted it on.

I'm pretty sure they released Golden Axe 3 on the Sega Genesis Compilation for the PS2.

    I love Cool Spot.

    Hope you feel better bro!

  • kinda looks like a PSP

  • Still despite this version not being suited to megadrive PAL/JAP games this is an excellent alternative to a cheap Nomad type of thing.

  • The built-in games do seem to function well. But the sound in this system is off.

The cartridge slot is not wide enough to take megadrive games (JAP/EUR). So don't get this if you live in Europe and don't own Genesis carts.

  • That's a nice piece of kit. The small size certainly makes it more appealing to use mobile than the Nomad... and being cheaper, you'd be less worried about dropping it or whatever.

  • Swine fllu?

  • Very nifty bit of kit, might pick one up when they are available for overseas shipping :)

  • I don't see the huge problem of not being able to play 2 player games on this unit, I don't even see how it could be done, I know you could connect a second controller to the Nomad, but why would you want to? The screen is too small to allow two people to play a game.

  • It can AV out to your TV,as does the Nomad.2nd player would be useful .

Love the way this looks.Seems they made it as compact as possible...while taking the genesis carts.

  • COOL ^^

  • Cool i've been waiting for this for a while now they said it was coming out back in october. I'm wondering is the screen a little small tho?

  • Cool review, looks interesting, but I am something of an audiophile, so that sound issue would be a big one for me. The Sonic & Knuckles intro screen music made me cringe.

  • Yeah the sound is really an issue on this and the other recent genesis portable - the Retrogen.

Maybe at a later date if they develop a 2nd gen version of these units they will then remedy that sound problem.

  • Really don't like the layout on the A,B,C buttons. The angle is so off it's insane.

  • i would probably play my genesis games more with something like that....

  • Do you know if this will be compatible with my European games?

  • its region free.

  • It may be region free but the cartridge slot is too tight for Megadrive games (NTSC Jap and PAL Eur) :(

  • oh, well I did not know that..hmm.. maybe the RetroGen is better for people who want to play different region games then??

  • the instructions were in french and spanish so prebably

  • There's no mode button? I know some games use it.

  • nice vid man u must have every system?

  • Hope you get to feeling better gamester

You know they now have a portable nes and now a remake portable sega mega drive...

I still wana know why they cant make a portable snes....or an atari...

  • first to say first

    third

  • super cool

  • soah....why 2:30 am?
