It is hard to beat Anna Maria Island though, and Duffy's, Jose's Cuban place on Cortez. Nice little eateries that are not too expensive like other parts of Florida. It is a little more low brow, but there is also Mixon's fruit farm.

Man, Bradenton/Manatee County is nothing like this video. It's full of prostitutes, pimps, dope dealers, killers, thugs and gangs. In 2009 the place had the highest murder rate per capita in the entire state of Florida! Murders happen all the time, shootings, bank robberies, home invasion robberies, I hear gunshots everyday and night. The place is something like Compton and anyone who says it isn't, has never lived here to see the seedy life. Bums everywhere! Only NW Bradenton is nice.

I was born and raised in Bradenton. Now this was the 1950s and 1960s when I grew up there and it was QUITE different then it is today.

I moved to Sarasota in '76 but my whole family still lived there so I was always going there.

It has gotten so bad not only in Bradenton and Sarasota but Florida in general that my wife and I moved to TN 2 years ago and never looked back.

I am so sad at what has happened to my home town.

We moved from Bradenton about two years ago. I miss some of the things there but the cost of living got to be too much! When we left a 1200 sq ft home in a "not great" part of town was $230,000.The jobs there did not pay enough to support that kind of house payment. We still have family there and have been told that the crime has gotten worse. Bradenton was a great little town to raise a family now it's a place people are afraid to go the mall.

I like it here, and I've done many videos about places in the Village of the Arts and other Bradenton institutions that are totally non-boring. You're right about the crime rate being lower than Sarasota, too, although few people seem to realize that. :)

I enjoyed it as I just moved home to Illinois after 20 years in Bradenton. It has grown and was better years ago. Bradenton is my old home town. I went to Manatee High School. The Shake Pit rocks! It was alot better living there in the 60's and early 70's before greedy money grubbers infested it and paved over and built like crazy. But, most towns in Florida are like this now.
