Say that for the workers in sweatshops in third world countries who are suffering from low wages, extreme working conditions, sexual exploitation, beatings, floggings, and slavery. What we will be seeing increasingly in the next few decades are the Asian students mastering engineering and mathematics while the North American and European students dominate the fields of design and industrial creation. One can only hope that enough capital in the future will be invested into scientific endeavors and our space programs. While I have my fears about globalization, I think that if we push for strategies like fair trade over free trade, we can make our new economy work for us rather than leave us in the dust with things like offshoring. Since Obama has lived in Indonesia, I think he has a much better grasp about our changing world compared to other candidates.
