the dump body feed the salt to the auger (the box at the end of the dump body) which it is then feed across they tray through a shoot then it is dropped into the spreader which it spreads it out onto the roadway, another thing is that there is a warning light inside the cab that lights up evertime the body is up so yeah there should of been no reason for this mistake to happen in the first place, oh and besides i work at PENNDOT so yeah

you have to raise the box to feed the sander. As you run low on sand the farther you have to raise the box. The way people crowd the sander and distracting the operator > this is real easy to happen

those spreaders are better for big long highways so they dont run out of salt or dirt.. v-box spreaders are small and for little roads or neighnorhoods, if u put a vbox on those roads you'd run out very quick

The clearance of many of our overpasses is about 14' 6".

I have seen many trucks hauling tarped loads where the tarp balloons up a little bit at freeway speeds and rubs the bottom of the overpass.

There was circumstance leading to this, a driver of a small pickup over estimating his 4wd,sliding next to this truck,causing the operator to do what he had to do to avoid injury to anyone and himself,the roads were very icy ,regaining control of truck was the operators top priority!both hands needed to be on the wheel, not the controls!The Box WASNT just left up!
