In fairness to Graf, she was going through a slump in the early 90s with personal problems and stuff.

Dont get me wrong, I think Seles was absolutely amazing, but I think she would have met more competition from Graf in the coming years. In my opinion I think their rivalry would have evolved into something like Chris-Martina.

@alin1975 Seles won with a girl's body. Don't underestimate that. Stevie had a Chris Crocker physique. The masculine women have an advantage. But Seles won looking like the girl on your grade-school kickball team. That shows amazing skill and grit.

Again... I have the deepest respect for Seles, and I think she would have become one of the best ever. All I am saying is that I am quite certain Graf would have been able to provide more resistance in the following years. Seles may still have come out on top (in fact I believe she would have), but I think it would been a lot closer than it was in the early 90s thats all :)

I hope that wherever that monster Parsche is he is flat broke, homeless, penniless, and suffering... to not be punished at all for what he did to Monica is outrageous and it still angers me when I think about it. I believe that what goes around comes around, and hopefully Parsche got what he deserved.

monica was the greatest player of all time. noone hit angles like she did and never will. she fought on every point and never gave up. she would have won more slams than anyone if it were not for the stabbing. i wonder why they did nothing to the scum that stabbed her. must have had some pull from the graff camp. they couldnt beat her on the court so they took her off the court. miss you monica

@bo2diddle I remember seeing an interview Monica did and it said that if they wanted to put that horrible man in jail,Monica would have to take the stand in a trial but she chose not to do so,so that horribe man never spent one day in jail for the terrible thing he did.Monica Seles and womens tennis will never be the same.We love u Monica!!!

Seles was dominating at this time, but Graf was adjusting a little more. They had great matches, but Seles would have ended up with more majors without a doubt. What a shame. I liked them both. Met Graf in 97 and she was very nice.

Yes Graf won a lot of slams due to the Seles stabbing and a lot of Graf fans REFUSE to acknowledge this. This is all some Seles fans are saying. Why is it so hard for Graf fans to ADMIT the stabbing CHANGED women's tennis history? Graf was being dominated by Monica she had a losing record in slam finals 1-3. Steffi was no longer number one and she hated being number 2. Steffi also was losing to a lot of lightweights like Sabatini, Novotna, McNeil, Sanchez Vicario.

@Leva1234 Nope. Nobody believes that. Seles was destroying everybody. Her grunts alone, intimidated the players. They got that wacko to stab her. That was to stop Graf's domination. Seles was whupping Graf good until the stabbing...everybody knows that. Security was lax. Why? Now...you can't get within 10 feet of the lady players. Germany makes great cars, they can also execute a top-notch assault.. No security? This was a perfect plan. This is what got me interested in tennis by the way. True

Too bad the stabbing ruined Seles's career much to Graf's benefit.

Graf won 11 of her 22 slams AFTER the Monica stabbing as Seles would never be the same player again, physically or mentally.

Seles had won 7 of the 8 slams she had entered and the #1 player in the world for more than 2 years before the stabbing incident.

To this day, when people talk about great women in tennis...people are adamant to include Graff despite the number of GS she won. Everyone knows she didn't really deserve to be there! Before the stabbing, she was easily beating the great Martina, Evert, Graf...every women in tennis!

it was a time i really hate Seles due to she sill able to win Graf (my favourite player) ... but now I love her and i love her matchs and I was follow her all time... seles and graf made me spent best time from tennis. Their matches were so nice and beautiful. It was a time a really love women's tennis with Graf, Seles, Sabatini, Sanchez, Pierce, Davenport, Capriati.

to this day, I sure hope the WTA tour worked out a compensation plan with Seles that we didn't hear about...because I would have personally sued their ass if I got stabbed. Either them or the tournament

this is nobodies fault. there is no law regarding the type of security needed at a WTA event. This is a case of freak madness and bad luck.

@89Pleasek I totally agree. As I said before, I am a regular guy, and not much of a tennis fan. Women's tennis meant nothing to me until Monica Seles got stabbed by Graf's fan. This incident got me interested in tennis as a watcher and a player now. And yes, Seles was destroying females so ferociously that I was hyped watching her play. Steffi Graf was beating the girls too, but Seles was so ferocious with her grunts that you thought it was a boxing match. That was her appeal IMO.
