I've been experiencing these effects for about four and a half years now. I cannot go one day without my vision being distorted by the 'snow' or 'static', starbursts, trails and, quite recently, balance issues. I had a pretty violent vertigo attack around one year ago where I could not stand and walk without needing assistance. Ever since I've had slight balance issues. The initial symptoms began after a night of semi-heavy drinking and a few hits of marijuana. Sound familiar to anyone else?
@dgrooney Sorry you are going through this too. I believe anything you ingest man made, is a drug lol. So even though you got yours from marijuana and me from antidepressants, same thing IMO. Be good to your body. Watch what you put in it. I think this is all related to the CNS and serotonin/dopamine. So don't do drugs, don't drink, watch your sugars... anything that revs you up is going to tax your system. Share your story with teens and kids to try to prevent this from others.
Hey, i've just realised i'm not the only one, this has been ruining my life for years and years. I know it may not help you but it's helped me knowing i'm not alone. Thank you for the upload.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I'm crying because I never thought I would find someone with similar problems as me. I thought I was crazy or something with all these visual problems. I also have anxiety, panic attacks, migraines, optical migraines, VS, when I look at carpet and sky I see the same as u described. Does anything help? 2 docs put me on AD meds but I never took because I was afraid. I take Ativan for panic attacks though. I'm also going through posterior vitreous detachment
All of my visual problems started when I tapered off an antidepressant. Haven't touched a drug in 9 months, but still the visual problems. No VS, but Scheerer's Phenomenon, Palinopsia and floaters. My eyes drive me crazy.
@Awalkerphoenix ...I believe beta blockers and ssris can cause this. I took both and had similar symptoms with both. The ssri helped though for a while with the vision issues the beta blocker caused.... But stopping it caused the trails, etc. My snow isnt so bad... Mainly the after images and trails and cognition stuff.....
Good luck and keep me posted if you ever find relief!
@CandiRocksGtar if you look on the site Paxil Progress you will find hundreds of posts dealing with vision issues. But, I have not taken a pill in almost 9 months yet the vision issues have not settled. I am trying my hardest to just ignore it as I wonder if I am seeing these things so much because I am fixating on them. I am waiting for a neuro opthamologist visit, but doubt it will help at all. Think this is one of those things you just have to deal with =(
@CandiRocksGtar well, my story started about a year before all of this. I was diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis (look it up), an awful inner ear disorder. Once I started to get the disorder under control I began to ween off the meds I was put on to help me deal with it. Then all the eye stuff started. I don't think I had any anxiety at the time, but I guess getting off a large dose of an AD could cause automatic anxiety. Plus, once I first started noticing the floaters my anxiety got crazy.
@Awalkerphoenix wow i had something similar before my vision issues started.... While i was on the beta blocker i had a nasty bout of vertigo. I remained off balaced for months....then came the weird vision issues as i tapered off the beta blocker. Have you looked at MAV? I have read where some of them have the vision issues too. I had anxiety after the vertigo happened.
Respond to this video... Now I was still dealing with the inner ear / balance disorder and getting all these wild eye problems. Just trying to stay calm and tell myself everything is fine. I will have to deal with the anxiety for now because I will never take an AD again. Do you kind of agree that this problem isn't really caused by anxiety, but stays around because we keep looking for it?
Thank you Both. Hey Cookiechevia... do you by chance have a gluten problem? I was noticing a video you liked for it. I have spoken to someone who had the VS from it and once he removed it from his diet it took 6 months to get rid of all of the symptoms. I have been on it for about 4 months now. It's helped with my migraines.
