@HooperWest What's with all of these question marks? And what do handouts have to do with anything?
This whole issue is about this fascist PM of ours, closing Parliament REPEATEDLY to save his own ass (not to mention robbing our liberties at the drop of a hat, ie. G20), and covering up solid evidence of war crimes committed under his watch.
@HooperWest Since when is it such a horrible thing to expect our PM to obey the law? (then again I suppose logic is too much to ask of someone who thinks that every non-conservative is lazy, or that Harper is any less American-at-heart than Ignatieff).
2- you are and idiot ask people about why they need it sure some people abuse the system but who gives a damn if it helps the person that has had a hard life people need it because life isn't perfect
3-no I just know race or religion means nothing about a person
2-maybee they have a family and need all the money they can get so they have a bad job and welfare- the world is not an ideal place some people have bad lives
4- i disagree with your large % but regardless that doesn't "sour the whole race" it sours those few and I disagreeabout having a orld full of criminals

4-killing killers is being hypocritical we need to work together to solve our problems
1- not gov intervention i am saying there could be gov day cares but a parent could leave their kids with a family member
2- not always what if they didn't have the marks to go to university and they had a family but couldn't support. and i would rather have an abused system then people that need a system not having access to one
4- if we dont call them evil we will be able to talk negotiating will not be instant but its better then doing what we are now
1- not all things have to be health care (except stuff like non prescription drugs) shouldn't be a private organization but if we get universal daycare parents should be able to leave their kids wih grandparents

Prorogation happens in every country with a British Parliament. As you can see, just because a hospital parking lot is empty on Sunday does not believe the care is not given. It is business as usual. Exciting to see an election. Get Iffy to try a non confidence vote; come on, do it.
He has a banker background Harper does, he is looking after his own interests and the benefit of those elites like him, I bet he spent more time with Obama, cause they can go heavy on Canada if they want global government, such stopping trade...Canada is dependent on the goods and services with US.
The only problem is then you get Clowns with Guns. All we can do is continue to remain calm, discuss the real issues and see where that takes us.
The big problem is that politicians understand that most people want to be lead. People look to politicians to boil the issue down to what fits inside a 15 second sound bite. Once that happens, people stop thinking critically, especially when the comment comes from 'their guy'.
So what if harpers gone. Politicians are like low level street drug dealers you get rid of one your have 30 to replace them. "Politics is like a circus no matter who you vote for you always get a clown" Nothing will change because WE THE PEOPLE are not doing anything to change it. Sometimes physical force is necessary, these animals do not respect logic!
on the news today :appointments were announced while Harper was on route back to Ottawa from an international gathering of the political and business elites in Davos, Switzerland, with a stop in St. John's, N.L."
This is serious people! This is like a third world dictatorship ...harper doesn't want to face an issue he suspends democracy !The next election This dangerous man must be defeated !
Fuck yeah... Stephen Harper totally fucked Condoleeza Rice, Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Laura Bush, some shit like that. National Enquirer and TMZ shall target the entire conservative government to expose the cabinet ministers and the prime ministers sleazy actions to ALL people.
Mr. Harper's decision to prorogue Parliament is wrong. With so many challenges facing Canada --Parliament must be able to do its work. The Prime minister must be held to account
I've been around a while and I can't remember when the Canadian people last rose up en mass to protest a decision by a Prime Minister. Listen to the Canadian people Steven Harper! You work for us and we will fire you!!!
You are not a polluter, but you sure love the 30 billion dollars that Alberta sends your way, from the same tar sands that the Liberals provided tax deductions for years ago. You are for peacekeeping? You should make some non Latino friends from South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Belgium, France, Holland -- they are damn happy we are a fighting nation, because if you do not stand for anything, you stand for nothing.
The value of money does not compare to the irreparable damage that is being done in Alberta. I'd like to know how I'm benefiting of this 30 billion dollars. I still pay taxes, nothing is being handed out to anyone here in Thunder Bay. If anything, the current government is using the said money in their ridings, like the 50 million that were invested in Huntsville and it's surroundings under the pretense of the G8 meeting. This video is faced on facts, not made up propaganda.
As for your WWI & WWII reference, I don't see how it is relevant? Canada always had a reputation of peacekeepers, even then. I recall reading in many history books that our soldiers were nicknamed "the gentlemen of war" With the current allegations that our government is covering up the Afghan torture incident, our soldiers are being "unjustly" targeted by Afghans that feel their have the right to punish them back.
1. In WW2 we were there fighting a WAR. We killed folks. We were not there in ANY capacity as peacekeepers. Maybe re-read that part of your history book again. Acting professionally in a difficult situation, doesn't make us peacekeepers.
2. Tarring Canada, with the Afghan torture issues before and during the Olympics would only be taken out of context by foreign media.
3. Besides, It's only 37 days. God, you guys make it sound like it's years!
1. I agree with you it was a WAR, and Canadians did kill other soldiers. It was a last resort.
2. I'm not tarring Canada, read the news, if the ICC doesn't feel that our government is doing a good job investigating these allegations, Canada can be charged with "Crimes against Humanity"
3. Please understand that the duration of this proroguing is not in question, it is the dubious reasons behind it.
2. The media here before the olympics are SPORTS guys. They won't see the difference between "allegedly" and "Did". They are jocks. what do they know.
3. You and I don't know all the details of what happened over there. Right now, all we are going on is a bunch of political loudmouths we are forced to listen to all looking for political gain, and Not ONE of them really care about our reputation, or the truth. It's all a game to them.
The guy who's opinion I respect the most has been a Liberal candidate in the federal election a few years ago. He has been in wars. He has been in military 'difficulties'.
He is General Lou McKensie. He has seen stuff and understands how this kind of thing actually (or allegedly) happens. He is siding with the Conservatives.
A Public inquiry would be so full of political hacks trying to the the "GOTCHA!" moment, there would be no point.
@BoredomCorner There was no evidence that Canada did anything that would be considered war crimes. The rules of our very presence there said we had 48 hours to pass on any detainees. When improper treatment was discovered, our people hauled the other side up to explain themselves.
Also, the timing of the calls, right before the olympics, is pure BS politics. Didn't hear much after the games.
Was everything perfect? No,but war isn't perfect and we are still the good guys.
@Miradart Actually there's plenty of evidence that Canadian troops knew about the prisoners being tortured, and that Harper covered it up.
The timing of the call, was right as the House was investigating this disgrace -- and we heard Harper being threatened with contempt charges until he finally handed over documents.
@BoredomCorner "Knew about it", and "DID IT" are completely different things, but most people, including the soft minded media, won't make that distinction. It was Canada bashing at it's finest, and a purely political 'crisis' foisted by Libs who decided that some short term political gain (because ti wouldn't have lasted) is more important than our reputation in the international community right before the Olympics.
It was a nothing story a year ago. And it still is.
It is relevant because you wrap yourself in the Canadian flag, and if you have a flag on your backpack and go to many countries in the world you would be welcomed because of our dedication to their freedom, ie. Holland. All soldiers are targets in Afghanistan and it has nothing to do with these spurious allegations, that the Libs are scared to say outside of Parliament, lest they loose their protection from slander. Contact the International Court of Justice in the Hague, and theywill actforu.
@kdscott10 And on what are you basing that absurd assumption? Everywhere I've looked, people are itching to through Harper and his other fascist crooks to the street.
@BoredomCorner You should change your friends and find some who are not absurd, nor delusional. 4 more years, then Prentice takes over for another 8. Life is grand!
Good video. But if you want more Canadians to sign up against proroguing Parliament, you shouldn't make it a 2 minute long diatribe against the government.
The polls show 60% of Conservative supporters are against pro-roguing Parliament too.
Haha, I did not actually believe this happened (again!) until I looked in The Economist and skimmed an article that called Harper something like a "dictator." I will rally in spirit, as I'm out of the country, but if there's anything I can do to help sort out this mess of politics please let me know!
@darksideofthenation I wanted to find a tune that would best depict the current situation of the country. Currently we have neighbours, co-workers arguing of who is right and who is wrong. We shouldn't be focused on fighting, but finding a solution. A non-partisan solution that will bring Canada together under one flag, one nation.
Could you imagine Harper's response if the Liberals were in power and prorogued parliament. He would go ballistic.
It's a good thing we don't have a hypocrite as our Prime Minister. It is also a wonderful thing having a leader like Harper who embraces democracy and unites people.... oh wait... that's who I thought I voted for. Fooled me before Harper, never again. You will always have your lemmings though who will follow you forever.
I am not a lemming by any means or a Harper supporter - despite being from Alberta. But isn't this the 105th Prorogation of Parliament? What makes this one so horrible compared to the others. I just can't find the history of previous prorogations. I'm not arguing but just trying to figure this out. Aren't most bills being thwarted by the Liberal Senate anyways? Isn't this similar to what Obama is dealing with? ie. His opponents would rather see him fail than contribute positively.
Perhaps you missed the first sentence of my comment. I'm referring to Harper & how hypocritical he is.
At the end of the day, the Reform Party turned out to be just like any other political party & Harper, just like any other politician.
They walk the high moral ground while seeking power, & once they have it, they will do anything to keep it even if it means acting just like everything they always fought against in opposition.
The lemmings will say, "yeah, but the Liberals did this..."
You can't put Obama & Harper in the same situation. This has nothing to do with opponents wanting to see Harper fail. Many of us voted for the guy because we thought he would be different but it turns out that we were wrong.
The toughest pill though for us to swallow is that once again, the Liberals will have to dig us out of deficit, like they did after Mulroney left office. I don't know who is more Conservative and who is more Liberal now! We know who the Reform are, & that they are not!
@medhatalberta The bills are usually being thwarted because they're terrible (like that "consumer safety bill" that gives the authorities the power of warrantless search and seizure, or Bill C-10 for that matter).
No one but Harper has dissolved Parliament just to save his own hide, either.
I really liked this video, it's too bad Canadians didn't show that we care though and we let Harper back in...our country is going to continue going down the drain. I really liked the part about accountability and smiling doesn't make things all right. Maybe some day Canadians will realize the mistake in letting him in, again.

Let's get this into perspective. You wait longer that 37 days for you income tax return to come back.
"Tempest", thy name is "Alleged Torture by a Third Party."

Can you imagine if this Neocon had a majority?? We'd be living in a dictatorship and we'd have to be in the streets to fight for our democracy......
TheAutomanDan 2 years ago

You should make some non Latino friends from South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Belgium, France, Holland -- they are damn happy we are a fighting nation, because if you do not stand for anything, you stand for nothing.
kdscott10 2 years ago
The value of money does not compare to the irreparable damage that is being done in Alberta. I'd like to know how I'm benefiting of this 30 billion dollars. I still pay taxes, nothing is being handed out to anyone here in Thunder Bay. If anything, the current government is using the said money in their ridings, like the 50 million that were invested in Huntsville and it's surroundings under the pretense of the G8 meeting. This video is faced on facts, not made up propaganda.
JavierESRO 2 years ago
As for your WWI & WWII reference, I don't see how it is relevant? Canada always had a reputation of peacekeepers, even then. I recall reading in many history books that our soldiers were nicknamed "the gentlemen of war" With the current allegations that our government is covering up the Afghan torture incident, our soldiers are being "unjustly" targeted by Afghans that feel their have the right to punish them back.
JavierESRO 2 years ago
@JavierESRO who's spinning propaganda now?
Miradart 2 years ago
JavierESRO 2 years ago 2
@JavierESRO
1. Good. We are in agreement on that.
Miradart 2 years ago
@JavierESRO
37 more days won't kill anyone.
Miradart 2 years ago
@Miradart This coming from the sheep who thinks that it's okay to shut down Parliament to avoid WAR CRIMES CHARGES.
BoredomCorner 1 year ago
@Miradart Harper is obstructing an investigation into WAR CRIMES -- that really doesn't bother you at all?
BoredomCorner 1 year ago
@BoredomCorner There was no evidence that Canada did anything that would be considered war crimes. The rules of our very presence there said we had 48 hours to pass on any detainees. When improper treatment was discovered, our people hauled the other side up to explain themselves.
Also, the timing of the calls, right before the olympics, is pure BS politics. Didn't hear much after the games.
Was everything perfect? No,but war isn't perfect and we are still the good guys.
Miradart 1 year ago
@Miradart Actually there's plenty of evidence that Canadian troops knew about the prisoners being tortured, and that Harper covered it up.
The timing of the call, was right as the House was investigating this disgrace -- and we heard Harper being threatened with contempt charges until he finally handed over documents.
BoredomCorner 1 year ago
@BoredomCorner "Knew about it", and "DID IT" are completely different things, but most people, including the soft minded media, won't make that distinction. It was Canada bashing at it's finest, and a purely political 'crisis' foisted by Libs who decided that some short term political gain (because ti wouldn't have lasted) is more important than our reputation in the international community right before the Olympics.
It was a nothing story a year ago. And it still is.
Miradart 1 year ago
Well Said!!
hofnerman1 2 years ago
It is relevant because you wrap yourself in the Canadian flag, and if you have a flag on your backpack and go to many countries in the world you would be welcomed because of our dedication to their freedom, ie. Holland. All soldiers are targets in Afghanistan and it has nothing to do with these spurious allegations, that the Libs are scared to say outside of Parliament, lest they loose their protection from slander. Contact the International Court of Justice in the Hague, and theywill actforu.

Good video. But if you want more Canadians to sign up against proroguing Parliament, you shouldn't make it a 2 minute long diatribe against the government.
The polls show 60% of Conservative supporters are against pro-roguing Parliament too.
Do you want them on your side, or not?
Just askin. Again, good vid tho.

Check out the "Canadians Against Proroguing Government" facebook page. Grassroots, it was started by someone in Alberta.
At currently just under 200,000 members so far, there is an informative and interesting discussion board 24/7

@purpleindigosunset Too bad that someone in Alberta jumped ship right after the rally. Way to stick with your cause.

JavierESRO 2 years ago
Could you imagine Harper's response if the Liberals were in power and prorogued parliament. He would go ballistic.
It's a good thing we don't have a hypocrite as our Prime Minister. It is also a wonderful thing having a leader like Harper who embraces democracy and unites people.... oh wait... that's who I thought I voted for. Fooled me before Harper, never again. You will always have your lemmings though who will follow you forever.
alastair36 2 years ago 3
I am not a lemming by any means or a Harper supporter - despite being from Alberta. But isn't this the 105th Prorogation of Parliament? What makes this one so horrible compared to the others. I just can't find the history of previous prorogations. I'm not arguing but just trying to figure this out. Aren't most bills being thwarted by the Liberal Senate anyways? Isn't this similar to what Obama is dealing with? ie. His opponents would rather see him fail than contribute positively.
medhatalberta 2 years ago
Perhaps you missed the first sentence of my comment. I'm referring to Harper & how hypocritical he is.
At the end of the day, the Reform Party turned out to be just like any other political party & Harper, just like any other politician.
They walk the high moral ground while seeking power, & once they have it, they will do anything to keep it even if it means acting just like everything they always fought against in opposition.
The lemmings will say, "yeah, but the Liberals did this..."
alastair36 2 years ago 3
You can't put Obama & Harper in the same situation. This has nothing to do with opponents wanting to see Harper fail. Many of us voted for the guy because we thought he would be different but it turns out that we were wrong.
The toughest pill though for us to swallow is that once again, the Liberals will have to dig us out of deficit, like they did after Mulroney left office. I don't know who is more Conservative and who is more Liberal now! We know who the Reform are, & that they are not!
alastair36 2 years ago
@medhatalberta The bills are usually being thwarted because they're terrible (like that "consumer safety bill" that gives the authorities the power of warrantless search and seizure, or Bill C-10 for that matter).
No one but Harper has dissolved Parliament just to save his own hide, either.
BoredomCorner 2 years ago 2
@alastair36 He did go ballistic, in fact.
