@TNCreature I turned down the compression and just used it for the tube warmth. I thought the boss limiter was enough and didn't want to over compress my tone.
I've tend to use my Sansamp programmable BDDI rather than my hyperdrive at the moment as it gives me the option of saving 3 different sounds but i am seriously tempted by the Darkglass B3K, they sound incredible!
How do i get that sound? Are you using any effects or is that just the tone of the bass when its clean? That's the bass tone I've been trying to get for years
@bassmaster361 Yes, I keep the action as low as possible. It's tuned down to E♭ plus the E string is tuned down to D♭. I'm getting some fret noise but Its nothing I can't live with. I need new frets. $300 for a re-fret, ouch.
Did you put the basslines in yourself. How much better do you think they sound than the mec's. I have a double buck, frankly not happy w/sound.My corvette SCREAMED.This one sounds like there is compression turned on. Any help ?
@funkmasterjoe1 The Mec pickups are just as good as the basslines, IMO. I actually like the higher mid sound of the MEC's better and I might put them back in old thumby. The big difference came with the Aguilar 18 volt on board preamp. I think the heavy bubinga body helps with the sound as well.
Outstanding tone sir! Thanks to this video & a couple others I have now ordered an aguilar preamp for my Warwick as well. Dont forget to mention how your Steve Harris like heavy fingers also contribute to the crunch ;)
Ohh, wicked tone dude. I'm currently researching and considering throwing a OBP-3 in my Thumb, and your vid is definitely supporting the idea. Thx for posting!
@kascollet Boss LMB-3 into an Effectrode pc2a tube compressor (with the compression on 0 working as a preamp) into an Ashdown Hyperdrive pedal into a Sansamp bass DI direct into my computer. The crunch mostly comes from the Aguilar OBP 2 tone circut and cranking The treble. Also, the pickups are basslines jazz pickups.
this is the best bass tone i have ever heard.

Hi, Can I ask when why you would use the Effectrode PC-2A AND the s LMB-3?
I don't use compressor/limiters (maybe I should?) so I am trying to learn more.
Thanks!

What settings have you got on your hyper drive pedal?
ern500evo 4 months ago
@ern500evo I actually took a photo of the settings when I made this vid.
input 1 o clock,
Freq 12 o clock
drive 11
mix 12
output 11
Q switch down
I don't use the Ashdown now-a-days. I've moved onto the Darkglass B3K pedal. The hyperdrive is still a great pedal though.

@TheKiller1945 Lots of Boss bass limiter, enhance on 0. Aguilar preamp treble on 10. Slight distortion in the mid range with the Ashdown Hyper drive.

@Boodakon Do it. I noticed a big difference with the Aguilar pre. The treble EQ is outstanding. The bass EQ is great too but I never need it.

Nice tone, punchy with a bit of grit. Are you eqing much with Sansamp or using it purely as a DI?
