I know it is just a cartoon, but I find it quite sad that such gross displays of animal cruelty served as common entertainment back in the 1960s. Of course there are worse examples, but this is quite 'realistic' i.e. not at all over-the-top (except for the gun part). Don't get me wrong: I don't hold it against this cartoon (I laughed and I love the PP cartoon series), I am just baffled by the things the general public used the find comic as compared to nowadays.
