Mike was a true one of a kind, there is not another artist that can spin with a mic and wrap the cord completely around him and dance his way out of it without missing a beat. A very true legend indeed. Long live the King!
Don't be hatin MrSpikey. The J5 were great performers no doubt. MJ got his moves from JB and Jackie Wilson. No better stage peformer . But the Beatles were in a whole other category. Musical geniuses who invented their own version of R&R, innovating the way songs were arranged and sung. Over 215 recordings while they were together. By the way, Paul just sold out Yankee Stadium on two nights, 50,000 seater. Not bad for a 70 yr. old british guy. Give credit where it's due.
@mrspikey100 the two groups are not even in the same catetogy...jackson 5 and the beatles are differnt times so u cant put them together dumbass...they both are really great groups
This was so wonderful ! I've got to start my day listening to either Michael Jackson or the Jackson 5 ! Their songs liven up the day! Also they constantly dance all the time, unlike today's singers! The Jackson's are all really handsome, especially Michael ! My Angel!
It amazes me how synchronized and polished they are in this performance. Michael never misses a beat and his feet are too fast for my eyes. Amazing! And to do all that dancing without losing his breath or his pitch,,? Flawless. That's why he's the greatest entertainer ever.
Also, I remember one tour (and my mind escapes me which one it was) but RANDY was on keys to Michael's LEFT up on a platform. As far as i can remember, that was the only time (Jermaine WAS on that tour also) One last thing that gets lost in these incredibly talented men is Jermain Bass line! Killer!
copycat429, PLEASE learn you JACKSONS! You asked the following question 2 months ago (and I quote).
"is that jacki or jermaine standing next to tito??? if that is jermaine, then where the heck is jacki"
OK, I want you to follow me VERY carefully when I write this, THE LINE UP ALWAYS WAS AS FOLLOWS:(WHEN Jermain was in the group it was (LEFT TO RIGHT) Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Michael and Jermaine. AFTER JERMAINE LEFT, THE LINE UP WAS (L-R)RANDY ON CONGOS, MARLON, JACKIE, MICHAEL AND TITO!
first of all u guys are some slow ass people cuz this waz not in 1974 cuz he was 16!! this is 1976 wen he was 18!!!! duh!!! and jermaine isn't in this video cuz he left the group during this time!! he was still with the jacksons in 1974!! but this isn't 1974!! it is 1976!! learn ur dates people
These dudes are bad...I was talking to Marlon about the choreography for this song a while ago...it is his favorite...I used to listen to this Moving Violation 8-track all the time back in 74, driving a 1970 Delta 88, living in Indy...I still have the 8-track tape...nobody moves and grooves like The J5...

Looking at Michael at this stage always makes me feel so melancholy about his passing. This is great footage. This guy really felt the lyrics and his interpretation of it is impeccable. Like he is possess by the rhythm.
@patisserie1 YESSS!!!!. I'm so filled with emotion when I watch this video. I can't put it into words. I agree with you he is feeling this song 3:14 it brings tears to my eyes
ugh! i just wish i was a 70's baby! they did so good on here, like every move was just right. i've watched it at least three times already. i loveee them so much. and their voices are perfect too ! ugh. i just love them! rest in peace micheal :)
Their dancing is soo smooth and flaw less. I love the choreography to this song. I just wish they would have performed it more. I love how michael spins and the cord of the microphone wraps around him LOL and then he jiggles the other way to unwrap the cord.. sooo cute :D LOVE HIM!
@Elmira2887 i feel the exact same way, like my favorite part about the song is the choreography (besides their voices), and they dance soooo smooth! and i love when the cord had wrapped around michael and he sort of bounced out of it lol. i loveee this video :)
omgosh!! I have watched so many performances of the jackson and michael and I gotta admit, this is by far my ultimate FAVORITE performance by these boys. the costumes, the singing, the dancing and everything is just soo beautiful. WOW! its breath taking. These boys know the dance moves by heart and never miss a step or dance move at all. They are totally in Sync with eachother. I love how jackie and marlon do the same move and then MJ jumps in the middle/front and does something esle.. SO CUTE
Hi guys, I need a little help finding that video called 'the jacksons forever came today performance and skit' It was on youtube like a year and a half ago. I miss it soo much. When michael is in the classroom talking about basketball n stuff. I know this is spam but please help me find it or repost it. This vid is great by the way, I love michael he dances like his feet aren't even touchin' the ground, lol! Oh yeah, plz dont spam me cuz i really need help! :)
This is GREAT! There's no Jermaine here - so little Randy lip sync's (with no conviction) Jermaine's part (made my lonely life a paradise, it came today, forever came today).... FANTASTIC stuff. We never saw this show ever in Britain!!!
@bolloslush I believe the year is wrong. This song was on their "Moving Violation" album, which came out in 1975. They walked from Motown after this album, and Jermaine didn't follow them. They still used the Jackson 5 name and "J5" logo for a while, until Motown sued them for breach of contract, and claimed the rights to their name.
More so than just his voice , pay close attenttion to how he so effortlessly dances and sings at the same time , like no one prior or since, or ever. He was and will always be the king of music.
The Andantes were not on the J5 version. But they were on the Supremes version, replacing Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong. I think it was around the time Florence Ballard left the group.
Im sorry I meant perfectionist, I hit the wrong key I luv this song, But I luv all of the J5, Jacksons and especially MJs songs. He can sing mary had a li'l lamb and I would luv it. Because it would'nt be about the song, just his angelic voice...fan since 72 till forever....!!! RIPMJ.
He was a perfectionish, when he grabs the mic at 2:09 the stand moves and he takes notices at 2:16.Then when he goes back at 2:32 he sets it right before putting the mic back on the stand. I bet he could'nt wait to fix it, everything had to be perfect. It happen on soultrain also, w/ all I do is think of U, any other artist proberly wouldnt notice or not care. But MJ notice everything, so do I when it comes to him. Gotta luv him, luv u more MJ. GOD bless U, RIP SWEET ANGEL.
I just watched Saturday Night Fever for the first time in a long time and now I see how most of Travolta's moves were taken right from Michael! There was nothing original about his moves.
it may be a surpremes-song, but as soon as the jacksons record it, it sounds like a totally different song; thanks to their voices, their arrangement. Because they are The Jackson 5!!
He has sooo many signature moves. I can't even count how many he's invented. And artists today, they have no idea what it was like dealing with a mike chord. I was always fascinated watching him perform with it.
Michael should have gotten an award for BEST SHOWMAN WITH A MICROPHONE CHORD.
@thatniggasilk I have thought about this too, and yes you are absolutely right. Today guys just kinda jump up and down wearing themselves out. No one moves likes the Jacksons. Smooth dances across the floor...guys today can't do that either.
This was on their Moving Violation album. I was in Junior High. The record has so many skips. I need a CD replacement. This is one of my FAVORITE J5 songs.
Great performance! All of the Jacksons are so talented in singing and dancing, especially Michael! And Tito is great on guitar and Randy on the bongo's.
Where were you guys in the 60's and 70's? Every thing you're talking about was routine for the Jackosn's. (cord around the leg etc). I saw them in 71,72,74,77, and 78 and have original programs form those shows. NOTHING these INCREDIBLE talented guys do in this video is "unusual". THEY WERE and ARE the best vocal group EVER to perform. Period!
@Bassplayershadow2023....To your first question, we weren't born yet. But still we can appreciate greatness. When a performance is this great nothing can be added or taken away. Seeing this performance, just makes my eyes well-up with tears. And I just love looking at the clips of the 60's & 70's. It gives us a good perspective of Michael and his brothers. If the Jackson estate would compile these past acts on DVD it will sell. Not taking anything away from Mike, but this was good music.
man that's too funny that they sung this on carol burnett when this was a KILLER club hit back in the day & still bangs a room out. can't tell by this production but this song has a gut kicking bassline & that famous motown funk bro's funk machine band behind it & on a good night club sound system u would lose your mind to this song.
Michael Jackson invented the crip walk before it was called the crip walk....MJ invented a lot of these dances today but these new schoolers wanna take credit for it....SMH
Michael spins (effortlessly) and the cord wraps around his legs until it can't wrap any more. Then, he proceeds to "groove" himself out of the wrap...TWICE!! Once around 1:25 and the second time around 3:38. How cool is that!!! Show 'em how it's done, Mike! I agree, KyKy!! He is soooo SMOOTH!! RIP Michael! I love you forever!!!
I prefer The Supremes' version, but we have to understand that this version is heavily influenced by the 1970s trends in music, fashion, etc.

@thatniggasilk I have thought about this too, and yes you are absolutely right. Today guys just kinda jump up and down wearing themselves out. No one moves likes the Jacksons. Smooth dances across the floor...guys today can't do that either.

Man this guy had such showmanship on the stage. Mike was a master at this for a long time.

Mike had incredible balance, he gets tangled up in the cord and still manages to not miss a beat.

@Bassplayershadow2023 God, how lucky are you to have seen them so often and so early! At least I saw them in '74, but barely remember it. Darn!

man that's too funny that they sung this on carol burnett when this was a KILLER club hit back in the day & still bangs a room out. can't tell by this production but this song has a gut kicking bassline & that famous motown funk bro's funk machine band behind it & on a good night club sound system u would lose your mind to this song.
