He didn't even have a chance to accept Jesus Christ as His Savior. Do you believe he is "lost in hell" forever?

You did not listen very well the the words spoken by these good men in the video. The atoning sacrifice of Christ was an act for those who could not act for themselves. Christ could very easily extend the ability for the living to do services for those who have died without the opportunity to do such work for themselves.

I think you are misunderstanding this doctrine. Baptism for the dead is done on behalf of those who did not have the full opportunity to hear and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life. What do you think happens to people who never heard of Jesus in this life?

Baptism was a commandment from Jesus and only has meaning because of his sacrifice for each of us.

Let me see if I understand you correctly:

1) You must be saved to go to heaven.

2) God is just and won't send someone to hell because didn't hear true message in this life (i.e. were saved)

3) Can't be saved after this life.

Do you see the contradictions between #1 and #2, and #3? This doctrine explains it! God is understanding and just and therefore prepared a way that those people who did not hear the true message can hear and accept it! Right?

..now for #2, to be honest, I have not done enough research into this topic, but, who actualy knows? maybe this one part where God can have some understanding and know it was impossible for them to know about Christ- therefore he may grant them heaven..but really I dont know..Im leaning toward this one.

You mention that you haven't done much research into #2. I would encourage you to do that because the answer to that affects probably more than half of the people who have lived on the earth. Isn't that a fundamental question then about the gospel of Jesus Christ?

You may not agree with Mormonism, but it sounds like you are starting to realize that there is a lot of legitimacy to this doctrine since it answers an important question that is not found elsewhere.

As far as question 2 the answer is no. God will not send someone to hell who has not heard his message. Everyone will have a chance to hear whether in mortality or afterwards. If not it would not be just. But God is merciful. We believe in a place where those who die without hearing go and are taught and can choose to accept or not from there.

If there were no differences between doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ and current Christian religions, there would be no need for Jesus Christ to restore His church back upon the earth. I would therefore expect there to be major differences between Christ's restored church and those of modern Christian churchs, just like there were major differences between the doctrines of the Jews and those taught by Christ. Differences between LDS doctrine and your doctrine does not make ours wrong.

When you witness to someone and they come to Christ, you have played a very small part in it, but ultimately it is of course only through Christ that they are saved. It is the same with this ordinance--we are baptized on behalf of those who did not have the opportunity while living and thus we play a similarly very small role. Only Jesus can save them.

I think the major allotment of silliness running rampant in this country is by people with "belief" in the superstitious trappings of an ancient middle-eastern creed that has more evidence to disprove it that it does to support it.

Why would an empty shell with no soul need baptized? Is it important to cleanse the body or the soul after death? Do mormons think the body stays in the soul after death? This whole process is disturbing and seems unnessesary based on prior Christian movements.

I think the video made it clear that the ordinance is done by proxy--a living person is baptized on behalf of a deceased person. In John 3:5, Jesus taught, "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

What God requires of one man, He must require of another if He is just. How can He require baptism of some people, but not others? That's why baptism is done for the living and the deceased.

So tell me, if someone is killed in a manner that their remains cannot be recovered (eaten by a shark, eaten by a bear, vaporized by a nuclear weapon, accidentally ejected into outer space, etc.) will that person go to hell because their corpse isn't dipped into a fresh water supply?

Also, what happens to the water contaminated by a corpse when you are done with it? Is it re-introduced into the sewers or simply wasted on the dead while others die of thirst?

I don't mean to be rude, but did you read my earlier message? The baptism is done by proxy. Therefore, I (a living person) can go to the temple and be baptized on behalf of my grandfather, for example, who has passed away.

Nothing is done with corpses or human remains, etc, etc. Only living people are baptized, but it is done on behalf of those who are deceased.

It is absurd to believe that any mortal here on Earth is needed to find you worthy to enter into the House of God. God wants all to come to him no matter the circumstance. If you are not allowed into the temple until deemed ok by the bishop then how do you receive the message in the first place. The House of the Lord is where all sinners need to be so that they may be convicted and forgiven of their sins. It should no be a pre-req to have overcome all your faults.

I would invite you to watch the video I have that explains the difference between meetinghouses and temples. Each Sunday, meetings are held in thousands of chapels around the world, where all are invited to attend and worship (including members and non-members). This is where all people can "receive the message" and "may be convicted and forgiven of their sins."

You are confusing churches with temples. Churches are where we go to learn and gain spiritual strength, and once we are spiritually ready, then we go to the temple to advance even more spiritually. Since you do not have an understanding of the purpose of the Temple, you cannot understand this concept. Recall Christ went to the Jewish synagogue and to the Temple. Not everyone was allowed to go into the Temple, but most Jews could go the the synagogueto worship.

Marriage is an earthly ordinance, so Christ was explaining that after one is dead and resurrected, there will be no marriages performed. Marriages have to be preformed before the resurrection. It would be easy to misunderstand this passage because we only have a portion of the event as recorded in the NT. In the NT we are told that the scriptures were written by inspired men called prophets, and therefore, these scriptures must be interpreted by prophets -- thank God we again have prophets.
