These men are right. Our country would not be what it is today without sacrifice. My grandpa was stationed in vietnam. He and his platoon were catching some rest when the viets attacked. My grandpas best friend didnt have enough time to prepare. A tank rolled up on a hill, and blew the tent me grandpas best friend was in to hell. God bless all our fallen troops
I understand what you mean. But people feel honored whem they recieve something that they think they don't deserve. When an important person visits your house, you feel honered. When a soldier gets a medal, he or she feels honored. When people call you a hero, you feel honored. It's not an honor for a soldier to be alive or to go home to his or her family :).
Some of these people do not understand that when you enter service and are involved in war you are fighting for the men around you, family and country. Semper Fi !
I never met a hero who thought he deserved the award he was given.
The WWII vets in the family are only now beginning to tell their stories, sadly a few have passed on who never would speak of the war and we have only glimpses of what they went through.
So many flag draped coffins........I can no longer maintain when Taps is played.
To those who seem fit to be fighting in the comments of this video, get a life. No matter that people call the medal, the fact these men are the hero's, until you do as they have done, think yourself lucky you have the right to bitch and whine, for without these men your lives would be very different.
And a quick caveat, I saw on their site they actually do refer to it about four times as the "Congressional Medal of Honor," despite the fact none of the citations state it as such and the majority of the site refers to it as the "Medal of Honor."
Aside from the poorly-named society (it should be the Congressional Society for the Medal of Honor, because that is what it is), there is no reference to a "Congressional Medal of Honor," on their website.
No it isn't correct. The award is approved by Congress, presented by the President on behalf of Congress and there is a Congressional Medal of Honor, but it is not now, nor has it ever been, the Congressional Medal of Honor.
some people think they know everyhting. go to the site and notice that the congressional medal of honor society is just that ...a society voted in by congress on 5 august 1958 to honor the recipients of the Medal of Honor. were you ever in the military??thoughout the entire web site they never refer to the MOH as the congressional medal of honor. please do your home work before commenting. Semper fi
true BUT the Medal of Honor is still the Medal of honor, check out anyof the presentations by our presidents and they ALL refer to the Medal of Honor as the Medal of Honor......why dont they call the Navy cross, the congressional navy cross? authorized by congress. oh, fyi i am a career Marine. your utube post is good but the title is incorrect
It does not matter who authorizes it. Why do you insist on that? A O-5 could approve an Army Achievement Medal, but that does not mean the thing is named a "Lieutenant Colonel Achievement Medal."
The Medal of Honor is one of two military neck order awards issued by the United States Armed Forces, but is the sole neck order awarded to its members. The other is the Commander's Degree of the Legion of Merit, which is only authorized for issue to foreign dignitaries.[5]
The medal is frequently called the Congressional Medal of Honor, stemming from its award by the Department of Defense "in the name of Congress" though the official and correct title is Medal of Honor.
@WeArErIsInG It's because we have the media covering every aspect of the war... WAR IS HELL there is no other description... and the general public cant handle the graphic side of war.... that is why there is so much opposition to it.
I agree with that soldier that said the medal does not belong to him, but it belongs to the men that did not make it home.
Those men sure as hell went above and beyond the call of duty for their country. They didn't have to do what they did to get killed, but they gave their life in an effort to let freedom ring in this country of ours.
Wonderful patriots! Thanks for this tribute! We should ALL get emotional about their patriotism and how they feel about their buddies they left behind.

the greatest honor in the military for most soldiers is being alive and free and with their families
