  • This is cool. Love Jools and love Elton. Both pianists have great feel for different genres of music! Elton is more varied in his styles and jools has mastered boogie woogie to a level most could only dream. To have as much talent as either would be a blessing!!!

  • The idiots slagging off Jools need to remember he's improv'ing over a song thats out of his genre and elton has rehearsed the solo's for his OWN song loads... Elton is a killer rock pianist but Jools is a Rhythm and Blues player with incredible feel, hence why he plays in all styles of songs on his 'later' show

  • @maccapaul123 Charming, now if it was in standard tuning it would have been the chord i mentioned, but as one guy said it is not in standard tuning so the chord is completely different. LEARN TO BE MORE POLITE

  • Guitar tuning is an Open G tuning here

  • @TalkToTheBody the chord is G major, with a sus4 chucked in. The song is in the key of G, chord progression is tonic, dominant, tonic, b7, dominant, tonic. That's from ear (could be wrong) but the song is in g here although the original is in Ab. Who cares though it's a kickass song!

  • @IAmReallyQuiteBored I have since learnt that it's not in std tuning, otherwise it would have been the chord i mentioned.

  • One cool dude! Jimbo

  • jools and Elton what could be better... !!

  • Class :-D

  • jools adds the blues element to the song, and where is davey johnstone?

  • His son died around this time

  • @garystaley ah thanks.

  • What's with all these BS competition comments? Looks like nothing but a totally fun jam to me.

  • i like that jazz sound lol

  • elton john kinda liked kicked jools by a long shot lol

  • Id and envious of jools......He got to play with elton

  • they both sound great, but Elton is better

  • i agree, i hate jools holand but he is good

  • i agree as well

    i dont even no him

ROCK ON ELTON! 40+ years now

  • I also do not like him, but if they toured together i would go see them

  • It would be nice if Jorgenson would rejoin the band. He added so much to the band with his versatility and allowed Davey to do a lot more as well.

  • jools is so oudone there lol elton john wows everyone with his amazing piano skills

  • i reackon the two playing together gets the best out of both of them. they have a bit of friendly competition and show off. what a result!

  • lol jools loses by miles lol

  • there both good in there own right, eltons a awesome singer songwriter, and jools s an amazing improviser, but i think jools should of left this to elton. though id say jools is a far better player than elton, and if you need proof, check out his albums a-z and live at queens hall, there awesome :)

  • are you on drugs elton is wway better by miles

  • I don't think he's done a downward glissando for about 15 years. Question is why...? Fingers getting a bit old maybe?

  • I think it was a case of "You're not out improvising me punk!"

  • Did anyone notice that Elton did a wipe at just about 3mins????!!! I havent seen him doing that in years!

  • it's called a downward gliss, but yeah, haven't seen him do that shit in years. i also enjoy watching the blonde over his left shoulder. haha.

  • haha...the focus on her face isn't very good but she does look hot.

  • Elton's wipe, was perfect...it really fit there!! Rock on Elton!!!

  • Jools is a great piano piano no doubt, but Elton......is in a league of his own

  • I agree: a league that no one else could live up to.

  • wonder in the begging of this song the guitar is played because i play like the guitar player it dosent even sound like it it is in a diffrent tuning or something?

  • That is not Davey Johnstone, the regular guitarist. I believe it is John Jorgenson.

  • This was taped during a time in 2004 when Davey couldn't be with the band.

  • yeah, funny to see john jorgenson doing this intro.

  • @queenGUITARgod open tuning mate, in this case i think it is open d tuning, then he just chucks in a Dsus4

  • @IAmReallyQuiteBored Looks and sounds like standard tuning to me. The basic chord seems to be a Fmaj7+5 (F Major 7th Augmented 5th) anchoring around the barred 12th fret. It looks like an additional E is being played on the 6th string to emphasise that 7th note by giving it more bass

  • Jools didn't spoil the song but he didn't do anything Elton couldn't do himself.

  • Jools Holland leave it to elton you suck you turn this great awsome song to a pecie of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    so leave it to elton!!!

    Jools Holland SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, elton is like the best pianist ever, at improvising and composing. Jools is a great player but can't top elton.

listen to a bennie and the jets in the mood version for sum elton boogie woogie.

  • lol @ typing a letter :P.

  • Jools is out of his league here, though I've never seen Elton play that competitively before, even vs Billy Joel.

  • Jools is Improvising to the song, he doesnt know it, and hes doing a bloody good job, you jackass! Jools Holland is a legend.

  • actually jools knows the song, they rehearsed the song 4 times, and since Jools has played it at the Jam house in Birmingham several times!

  • i fear you may be the only knob around here.

  • eltons no shit approach is fabulous, looks effortless and professional, jules holland looks like he is typing a letter, elton is making love on that bad ass piano!

  • lol. I agree
