Basically, Bobby was too young and weak to be able to control that amount of water in order to turn into ice. Secondly, Jean didn't give anyone a choice. Using her telekinetic powers, she started the plane itself and locked the door. Jean is controlling both the water and the plane and so Cyclops cannot blast open the door.

Cyclops couldn't blast the door right off because it risked the jet not being able to fly everyone away. They all just fought and are probably tired from using their powers so much. Granted Iceman, storm and JEan cud've worked together to save everyone.....the magnitude of the water was just too much. Besides, Jean WANTED TO DIE....bc she hoped she would die and not have to bring phoenix into the world. So she killed two birds with one stone, herself, and saving everyone.

Even if she did get out of the plane, did she have to stand on the ground in front of the water? Why not stand on top the plane, or lift herself up too?

Furthermore, was it really such a crisis, I'm sure the blackbird is water tight since it's a jet plane.

@legomaker Xavier isn't telekinetic, nightcrawlers limit becomes shorter and shorter with the more things he teleports, with even then the limit being two miles, and Jean was stopping them all from helping.

when you look at the actual ending it has many questions. why doesn't xavier, a more experienced mutant lift the plane, why doesn't cyclops run out and grab her, and also why doesn't nightcrawler just teleport them all on top of a mountain or something, then he could just take them back to the mansion. just pointing that out.

Aside from that, if it was JUST the door, Cyke could've blasted it off, but it was Jean ramping up to Phoenix levels and she locked him in. He could've battered the door like hell & she still wouldn't have let it open.
