  • Is there any type of game controller for iphone that plays a game like call of duty zombies or the more advanced fpses?thanks!

  • QUAKE!!!!

  • Hells yea.. Ghost of spardas right.. I play nova and something like That would kick ass.

  • Why did they change the design? It looks ugly now. I like this design way better, it's easier to hold and doesn't look chunky.

  • do you think a galaxy s would fit the side clamps or would it be too long?

  • does it work on iPad?

  • This thing could make iPhone games so much better. Why don't developers like Gameloft support this at all? I bet people would be crazy for fps games on iPhone with this accessory.

  • @GhostofSparta54 I agree! Check out bladepad.com. It looks epic!!

  • I hope the gamepad allows you to charge while playing the game

  • Comment removed

  • Do you still sell these? i've tried looking on the site and i cannot find anything about it.i liked this idea more then the other ones since this one is more portable and seems easier to control.Hopfully someone will have this done when i get my ipod touch 4g.

  • Ohhh why doesnt apple make these anyways??

  • Will it work with Street Fighter IV?

  • Now that is just too sick bro!!! The itouch gen has evolved lol no more need for ds or psp when u got this. :D

  • @Raz0Fang well, almost. The ipod touch graphic capability is less than both of those handheld consoles, so we have to wait for a few years for better memory processing

  • When does it come out?

  • Where can I buy one!? :D

  • that would be cool if you could put batterys in it to charge your iphone at the same time

  • @ponch817 tou can that is version 1 the outdated model, go to icontrolpad . com

    no spaces

  • sweeeeet. wherew can i get one at?

  • hey look now i have a PSP!

  • how does that work?

  • Its DEAD

  • USAiTunesGiftCards . COM Says it all !

  • Where can i buy this??

  • this things sweet!

  • Well i want one for emulators ;)

  • i want a prototype so bad where did you get one i want one so bad

  • Cool thing, but graphics sucks

  • Without dual analog stick i dont see any interest on a single Dpad.

    1 DPad

    2 analog sticks

    4 buttons (eg, A,B,X,Y)

    2 shoulder buttons

2 menus buttons (select start), optional.

The controller should have something similar to the PSP buttons design but two dual analog sticks instead of one.

    Keep the good work,

    cheers

  • out of so many good graphic game, you have to play an ugly classic fps :/

come on dude, get us more better eye candy games if you want idiots to purchase your products.

    aka wasteful spending..

  • is there a control pad for other phones (esp of the android variety)?

  • One thing you should add to this: make an app that comes with it to allow it's use in official games. Sounds difficult but bear with me. The player would set up (in the iControlPad app) where the touch buttons are (say in the Sonic 1 app) then when you press a button on the pad, the iControlPad app reinterprets that as a tap on the spot the user designated as correlating to that button press. I would definitely love it so much if it did this.

  • KitsuneDragonRA -- that was exactly my idea as well, im sure it wouldnt be hard to do. that would be perfect. and im sure many others have thought of it too and someone is probly working on it. lets hope

  • @KitsuneDragonRA zodttd doesnt make the icontrolpad.

  • @KitsuneDragonRA PERFECT IDEA :D

  • @jorge4me2 how the hell is it fake?, its not a movie, and hes not touching the screen

  • @smelliot9 why do u need to bother to reply to trolls?

  • lol fair play man

  • Xlnt idea. Lets hope all games in the app store start supporting devices like this. As much as I love the unique and (clever minimalism) of touch on the iPod Touch and iPhone apps, it has to be said FOR CERTAIN GAMES A PHYSICAL DPAD AND BUTTONS ARE UNBEATABLE! Well done for making it a reality.

  • Amazing!

    I want it now!!!

  • where can i buy this!!?

  • nvm i looked and says somethin is fucked and idk when u can buy it.. -___- GRRRRRR i want it! i got $200.00 on me now, ($225.00 tomorrow) and on thursday i will have enough for a 3G!! HOORAY! i was hoping to get a 3G then buy the iControlPad, but now considering i cant buy it, i guess ill play with a wiimote.. =/

  • this is sweet

    something id definitely pay for

  • We just need apple to allow PS3 controllers to work via Bluetooth with the iPhone and iPod touch, that would be sick

  • I'm guessing this would require a jailbreak to utilize? if so...fuck...I'm willing to mod just about any other game device, but I'm not jeopardizing my phone, I kinda need that to not have brick issues.

  • I will buy one even if it is defective just tell me how.....im serious i am tired of playing on the iphone's screen and this is exactly how i pictured a controller for it would look...the new one isnt a good idea in my opinion stick to this...it gives room for an L and R trigger.....just pm

  • Do you think SNES4iPhone will use a PS3 controller in the future via Bluetooth?

    That would be realy sweet!

  • Good grief this is dreadful hahaha

  • what kind controller do you get

    i wanna buy 1

  • they are working yet another new mockup...but sadly people been since 2008 and by now alot of people moved on to better things and just don't care anymore.

  • zodttd anounced the N64 emulator is comin to the iphone n touches!!!

  • @StJamesOutlawz Correction: It's being released on Iphone 3GS and Ipod Touch "3G"

  • I emailed them october 20th and they responded that it will be ready for release early 2010 (theyre working on Pandora). Sadly after waiting since June 2008, I'm getting a Droid this friday. Oh well :(

  • D: are you guys ever going to release this!? im so in love with it RELEASE IT!!!!!!

  • who needs a PSP?.....

  • me...because thats all i can get on lockerz right now...lol

  • So when will this product be available to the people because I know a guy who can help make u alot of them for a low price

  • this will get released when duke nukem forever gets released.

  • obviously it is dead...zodttd fail again....what a disappointment...i hope a company follow thru the idea and screw zodttd over

  • It's not dead but it's taking seemingly forever. And what do you mean by again?

  • @zodttd it's not dead they have a new one out for sale pretty soon.

they have just been working on new designes for some time.

  • @zodttd its ordering comes out next week :)

  • @zodttd hey when can i order this? this is a great idea and would like to get a couple of details on ordering information.

  • @zodttd by again i believe he means for a second time

  • Apparently the project is dead... No news whatsoever for about 8 months

  • the control pad really looks awful. hopefully it will be improved.

  • when is this coming out

  • framerate is shit

  • ok... it needs dual analog sticks

  • thats what i was thinking too.

it would be really nice for fps games on the ipod touch.

when i play fps games on the psp, i hate the fact that it only has one analog stick.

  • More information very soon. *half a year passes*

  • this is no fake idiot... did you even tried to go to the oficial web page???

  • NeoGeo pocket/color 4 iphone.Make it happen.

  • Been watching for this since forever.

Will this thing ever see a commercial release?

I would pay/order for this in a heart beat!

  • awesome i always wanted a control pad on my iphone

  • I want one really bad. HomeBrew ftw!

  • what no analog stick ( i smell epic fail). at least the belkin joypod had one

  • If you program it work with psx4 and ines and sold it on ebay MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where i can i buy it??

  • WOW I have been begging for somebody to invent that :D just now decided to try googling it :)

  • thats fucking sick

  • When does it come out?

what are official iTunes games that support iControlPad?

  • Make it easy to program for, get some developers on board and LAUNCH THIS PRODUCT. You get this thing out first as the only control pad solution and you will make bucks on this. I would buy it in a heartbeat given future game support. Looking forward to launch!

  • You should have the four buttons be controlling where you look, and the other for for walking. Gameplay would be much more fluent and it will be much easier.

or is the control scheme up to the devs..

  • how the hell can u play like that u can use this for psx4iphone it will run faster cos not using touch screen

  • That looks really interesting!

  • looks like they are bumming out...its been awhile since any news or update.....screw the developer for hyping a crotch of nothing!!!

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM they just announced a mass release, small projects like this take time since there is limited funding, you just have to be patient

  • Hey, is it possible to use the wiimote with the iphone and the emulators? The wiimote works on bluetooth, and the iphone is bluetooth compatible. It would be perfect for NES games. Also, with the nunchuk connected, it would also be good for other emulators. Any ideas?

  • it's been three months please update status quo

  • Hi guys, I'm gonna buy a PSP but now I'm thinking of buying an iPhone...

Which one is the better one?

    Pls reply (=

  • iphone cuz idk lol

  • PSP for games. iPhone for... phone. The PSP is cheaper, has a load more great games and it can also play all your videos, browse the web etc wheras the iPhone is a box of neverending gimmicks.

  • Oh yes, even though the iPhone does all of those things plus more. The iPhone safari browser is the best mobile browser available as it acts like the internet should act. There's also the option to download music etc from the itunes store on the go and download great games from the app store. Sure the iPhone isn't built for the great action games like Quake but other games such as Rolando would be nothing without the iPhone. Plus the fact that iPhone games are about 1/6th the price of psp games.

  • Plus the fact that the iphone games last for 3 minutes before you get bored of them, and rolando is a damn loco roco clone

  • Sorry but where are the L&R trigger?

How are you going to play SNES or GBA on ot without them?

  • Its on the top part of it.

Go to 1:44, you can see him using it pretty clearly.

  • soo whats going on with this...is this still coming out? went to the official website and no new news, last thing was this video...been a long time since i heard anything....did Apply shut u down or? hope you still come out with it...cuz i would buy it

  • FTW!!!

  • WOW! awesome!!

  • progress update please.

  • for those who just have the first gen ipod touch without the sidebar to adjust volume, such as myself, will you be able to hook up your headphones while using the icontrolpad?

  • I doubt it, I don't think iPhone can handle PSP games.

It barely handles PSX games, with a lot of lag.

  • looks really clumsy. but still better than no buttons.

  • Well, thanks for showing us Quake... I was really hoping you'd talk about the product a little bit... but, not a single word. Literally.

  • Go to icontrolpad (dot) com

  • looks awesome can't wait

  • ZodTTD, First of all good work so far with all your emulators and the repo ect, it's good to see the icontrolpad is almost ready after such a long wait - from the video it all seems to be going really well :) Second, I have 2 questions for you if you possibly could answer them it would be great thanks.

    1. Can you give a GUESS as to how much this will retail for? I signed up for the newsletter last year but haven't managed to find out much about the price so far. And - (next comment)

  • I would really hope about £20-30 but a price like £50-60 could really put me off. And 2. Do you know how many will be made in the first lot produced? I would guess not a huge amount seeing as you don't know how well they will sell/be supported by other Devs ect.. Thanks if you know the answers to those questions.

  • what's third party applications??

    sorry, i'm dumb

  • is there a difference between an ipone and an ipod touch?

  • Theyre the same except iPhone is literally a phone, you can call people.

    itouch cant call.

  • on the itouch what can you do??

  • iTouch is the same as an Iphone, just you cant phone/text with it.

an iTought will offer you wireless connectivity for free internet access, ability to go on the net to check emails, watch youtube, and browse websites, you will also have 8gb, 16gb or 32gb worth of memory to listen to music, view images or watch videos. You can also have other accessories such as an organiser, calculator...etc

You can run homebrew applications, emulators like a GBA, or SNES, PSX etc.

  • Oh right, it's coz im savin up

  • i understand, i too am saving.

i just want to mod something.

  • Mod something??

i'm saving up for 10 months

  • >>i'm saving up for 10 months

    lol

in 10 months there's probably going to be something better that you can buy. itouch isnt worth it IMO. just get the iphone and jailbreak it

  • what's 'IMO?, and what's jailbreak'???

  • And, i also love the ipod touch!

  • It's basically a PSP without the single analog nub.

Slap 2 analog sticks on it and it'd be worth something then.

  • Really really great. :D

  • defeats the purpose of the multi touch screen... but does accurately give good controls...

  • Dude, this will work on Ipod touch too right?

    (Touch 1st Gen)

    Thnks

  • Is the final product going to be white or is it the prototype?

    Black would look good too...

    anyway great news.

  • I'm going to get confirmation as to the available colors, though I know this prototype wasn't polished/painted. It's nearing mass production time though, so I will have that answer quickly.

Curiosity here...Besides white and black, any other colors people are interested in?

  • Maybe silver/gray.

    This seems cool.

Games could start being labeled as "iControlPad support). Awesome. :)

  • Dual analog opens up a lot of options when it comes to control schemes that developers can use.

If this were going to be official and suddenly new/old games on the apps store could use it, ZodTTD would be a fool to leave out dual analog... But since this probably won't get the thumbs up from apple, you can't fault him for concentrating on a product that will work for the homebrew scene.

And in that regard, I think it looks like a really solid implementation.

Good luck with it my friend.

  • That is the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen.

  • My girlfriend desperately wants to play ORIGINAL tetris from NES with the original music and everything..

any chance the NES emulator and ROM is out?

  • Make this please!!!

  • No worries, it will be available for purchase sooner than later!

  • this guy seriously has retard hands.

  • Is it possible to use this in the music player as a remote? It would be pretty sweet to get tactile response for the music player.

  • This is possible on jailbroken firmwares. I'll post some information on how it can be done soon.

  • Nie, but yet again, when it comes to games and emulators, the iphone and touch still suck in that criteria

  • Actually there a lot of awesome games on the device. Rolando, Fast and Furious, Hero of Sparta, etc. And Payback which is a high-quality Grand Theft Auto style game coming soon.

If Gameloft updated Hero of Sparta for support with iControlPad, that'd be awesome; because the touch screen D-Pad can be a little hard to use at times. It seems like the perfect game for this gamepad.

  • looks sweet... probably make alot of games easier to play on my iphone.

  • Oh, I thought this was Pandora-related.

  • @VuittonDonDanny - uhh... i do. IMO there haven't been more than a handful of really good games in the past 10 or so years. The quality of the industry has gone astoundingly downhill, its mostly EA & Ubisoft's fault for flooding the market wit so many mediocre games.

@ Zodttd - Glad 2 c this coming 2 light! Tnx for the effort! C u over on the pandora forums, lol

  • I can't imagine how hard Quake, and other games would be having to look up and down like that..and to VuittonDonDanny, shut up, Quake kicks ass.

  • who wants to plat crappy 10 year old games anyways?..

    stupid.

  • you all were promising this thing to be out by october 2008. come on already and finsih up so i can buy this. god damn

  • this is so lame.if the ipod touch is a powerful machine then we would like to see quake2-3,so weed need a few analog sticks not some directional pad.the psp is great machine, but it isnt great for first person shooters and it looks like this is the same as that.fps dont work without analog sticks.guess will wait for next psp

  • You realize that an analog stick will just get converted to a digital up/down response for movement on the X/Y axis by Quake anyways? Also keep in mind this same controller will be used with my (and soon others) emulators which also rely on digital button up/down responses from the dpad.

The question isn't whether the iPod Touch is powerful, it's whether it needs tactile feedback, which is what this provides. Also there is Quake 3 on the iPod Touch, for reference.

  • dumbass, its not fake, its a working prototype.

  • It took a whole team to say something that dumb?

  • It needs an analog stick, like the PSP.

  • Who started the whole movement for an analog stick? Analog sticks make little to no sense for the majority of applications this will be used with (emulators) and even for FPS like Quake as explained in the times9 reply above. Most applications just want a digital response which shows whether a button is up or down. Within software, most analog sticks are just interpreted into digital responses of whether the stick is in a 4/8 way split section just like a dpad would give you.

  • I just saying if you played FPSs on videogames (like on a ps3) a analog stick is really handy for a Mouse Look-esque.

I don't know what are the chalenges on implement an analog stick, and, as you said "most aplications want a digital response" but, if you give'em an analog stick possibility, maybe more developers would make it usefull.

Just commenting on a consumer point of view.

  • I know you have already stated on the site that it will have access to the headphone jack. How is this going to work, exactly? A pass-through jack?

Also, are the buttons "molded" into the case, or are they separate plastic like on the PSP? They look "molded" in, as in the buttons and plastic case are one.

Some neat ideas for the final version: play/pause buttons on side, battery for charging on the go (á la Mophie), built-in speaker for extra loud sound.

  • This looks amazing! This adds the buttons that gives the iPhone a huge disadvantage as a gaming device. Apple claims that no buttons is an improvement, but also call the iPod Touch a gaming device.

Can't wait to play Metal Gear Solid/PSX using this... If MGS ever does get working on PSX4All, that is. :P

    Keep up the great work!

  • needs a joystick

  • Instead of a dpad? Most games just translate analog into a digital response of a 4way or 8way direction anyways. :P

  • Damn, this tempts me to get an iPod Touch just to jailbreak it and use it as a portable arcade machine. :-D

  • hey are there shoulder buttons and is it nice and comfortable

  • Yes there are left and right shoulder buttons. It feels great! :)

  • I probably should have adjusted the sensitivity settings on Quake for use with the iControlPad. It's really easy to play quake4iphone with it either way though! :)

  • i have been waiting so long to see the icontrolpad in action

i am a very big fan of zodttd and the pandora project

what i want to know is when will they be selling the icontrolpad

  • this is very cool! but I do think Quake with touchscreen is much better.

but I wanna see it in action with gpSPhone! surely it'll be easier to use!

  • The video is very smooth, but when uploaded to YouTube their conversion process makes it skip a few frames in certain spots. Although minor, I thought I should let people know. :P

Also remember this is a prototype, and the production model will be even better. ;)

  • Will this have any kind of adapter included, or avilable, to fit iPod Touch 1st and 2nd gen? If not, how well do they fit into the control pad compared to the iphone?

  • The iControlPad was modified to allow the fitting of both the iPod Touch and the iPhone without the need of separate adapters. :)

  • oh and could u show a video of gpsphone please i want to see if it wil be any smother with the icontrolpad

  • Thanks for the request. Possibly soon I can get a gpSPhone version. I believe SNES is next though.

  • ok thanks. i am intrestread to see how this will affect the speed and over all functionality of the emulators

  • it wil be for jailbroken devices and i cant wait till u can get one

  • That looks great. So will this work for jailbroken and non- jailbroken devices? Also will it work on all firmwares including future updates?

  • It will work on all current firmwares, and I believe it will work on future firmwares as well. There's no reason for it not to. While this gamepad is meant for jailbroken software, an AppStore developer can add this gamepad code without getting rejected by Apple.
