lateral work is definetly a next step, but havent been able to ride in 2 weeks again! haha back before her recent 4months off, she had MAJOR issues being unbalanced, bending in the wrong direction, &VERY bossy w/ her shoulder, so worked on stuff like teaching her shoulder-fore, bend, yield to leg, while keeping correct bend, forwardness, & balance but she was NEVER consistent..
I was going to start back on shoulder-fore, that hopefully would help loosen and lighten her up, then go from there :]
What a beautiful mare! She looks like she'll take you places. For having her on a loose rein, she looks just fine. Oh, and you don't want her less sensitive to the bit. She'll grow to be on it over time if you just keep pushing her. It looks like you're doing well though, and she's so pretty! Great job :)
I think we're talking about the same thing really lol
I sort of mean less sensitive as, right now, she isn't understanding the connection between me pushing through my seat and pressure from the reins, like right now she's thinking getting on the bit is all hands, but she'll understand soon enough! :]]
lol! Yeah I tried moving her saddle back a few inches, she had dry spots on her withers that day (she had to have some time off, and actually grew almost 2 inches---in her withers LOL) so yesterday it was mostly better! :]
yeah, i know how you feel. one time, there was the weirdest shaped horse i got to ride, we used the back pad to raise the saddle and when we cantered, the saddle kept hitting me in the butt and it was so awkward. he had a weird build, and nothing seemed to work to make the saddle fit right. haha. i could barely keep my feet under me, they'd fall back to to far foward. haha.
looks very nice... have you experimented with lateral work? it would help her release her topline and start engaging a little more...

We definitely are :) It's good to see that she knows how to relax!! Best of luck!

yes it took her SOO long LOL
For 4 months she was allllways /tense/!
Then with an accidental 4 months off, she relaxed 'overnight'! lol
She's a weird little girl :] but she'll definitely be worth all the time. And comes with a verry quirky, goofy, and cute personality to boot :D

Difference from your first few rides to now is amazing. Your baby's growing up. She physically, to me, looks really good too.
