  • what year was this? the video of this performance.

  • Prestodan called it right! It sure as hell isn't about Betty Crocker!

  • Didn't they used to send a giant tip jar around.?

  • Does anyone know if BR549 has their song "Humdinger" on YT? I can' find it anywhere...

  • I luv these guys and upon seeing them live at a county fair thing in Nebraska bought their vinyl album years ago!!!!

  • is this in hOLLAND?

  • I cannot believe there is a debate about whether or not this song is about Bettie Page! This is THE song about Bettie Page, ya' morons! It was featured in a documentary about her on PBS. BR5-49 gained their following on lower Broadway in Nashville, right down the street from where Bettie Page graduated from Hume Fogg High School. Listen to the lyrics - who the hell do you think the song is about?

Long live Bettie - and BR5-49,who did a proper early tribute to her with this song!

  • Love this song! RIP Miss Bettie Mae Page <3

  • RIP, Miss Betty Page.

  • This song is a double entendre about Betty Page. That is straight from the lead singers mouth when I met them at Camperfest in 2005.

  • Don't want to sound naive, but is this song about Betty Paige ?

  • nope

  • Much of what the lyrics say seem to indicate it is about Bettie Paige. Don't mean to disagree, but just who is it about if not the Dark Angel from 1952, Bettie Paige?

  • Yes this song is about Paige from my take..

  • Yes, it is most assuredly about her! When I saw BR5-49 in a club in 2001 we discussed it after the show.

  • Chuck Mead, the lead singer for BR549, is my cousin. I just sent him an email asking him if this song is about Betty Paige. I will let you know what he says when he replies... more later....

  • Her born name was Betty Mae, and she changed later to Bettie, probably because her childhood wasn't idyllic.

It's kind of like asking if Elton John meant Marilyn Monroe in the first line of Candle in the Wind, "Goodbye, Norma Jean".

  • It is. They say so on their album "Live at Robert's."

  • Great tune, great version! Thanx for uploadin this. Is there a cooler band around?

  • "That jungle mistress, dark Madonna, leather booby queen..." That whole boot camp verse is very special. Love the fiddle break too - particularly on the original album track.

  • This is my kind of country. Not quite as much pace in this live performance as on the original album track, but still great entertainment.

  • Gawd I love these guys...

  • BR5 is real country...One of my fav bands besides Phish

  • Man! They are coming to Sweden this summmer... I Cant wait!

  • this is a great damn song. Heres an example of a song that trancends the lineup that plays it. Bravo! And God bless BR549 in whatever incarnation that comes!
