I cant name any fighters Mike Tyson Dodged but I can name about 5 good fighters in his era he never fought. Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, Ray Mercer, George Foreman, and Tommy Morrison. Evander Holyfield fought just about all of those guys Tyson never did. Tyson fought a bunch of bums, and when Tyson did fight someone good he lost.

Tyson's post jail fights are some of the most embarrassing moments in boxing history. They gave him nothing but squash bouts just so he could get back in the title hunt. And once he got to that level he was killed by any of the top contenders or champs. He was well past his prime and out of the game for too long.

Agree with you, when boxer become a big draw, He will call the shots that will give him advantage, example: ring size, glove size and etc while the commission already have the existing rules. Ex:Welter Weight=20x20 ring size, 8oz gloves, 12 rds, testing procedures, and so on, why boxer can demand rules that doesn't align to the commission rules just to gain advantage and Authority doesn't do something about it.

The best way to make that point in all honesty is for die hard fans to turn their back's on the sport. Probably the biggest problem no1 talks about. There should be 1 belt for each division. Like Manny shouldnt fight Cotto at a catch weight for his 7th title. @disturbedman360 I also like the rule that if you knock your opponent down, there should be no relief or ten count. You should be able to wait until they get up and then right on them again. Boxing used to be this way. The Marquez fight is a good illustration. Most think he won the 2nd fight against Pacquiao but the fact that he got knocked down and if the no ten count rule is in effect, he would have been done.
One main problem is that there's no one major controlling body in boxing like for example FIFA with football. Unless there is a unified governing body that dictates the rules and regulation (including drug testing) it will always be what it is now, one messed up entity. If such governing body exist that can reign in all the ABCs of boxing then you would not have a situation like PBF ducking the best fighters. Why you need to criticize your own people like the NSAC, Boxing and Promoters? It is so obvious that People know it was Floyd's fault and you can see 80 -90% of people are not agreed with Floyd's demand. Why?, NSAC never changed their rules and protocol since Ali, Tyson, Sugar Ray Floyds, Pacman etch. Floyd should quit boxing and he'd better to apply as a commissioner in NSAC.

I cant name any fighters Mike Tyson Dodged but I can name about 5 good fighters in his era he never fought. Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, Ray Mercer, George Foreman, and Tommy Morrison. Evander Holyfield fought just about all of those guys Tyson never did. Tyson fought a bunch of bums, and when Tyson did fight someone good he lost.

And once he got to that level he was killed by any of the top contenders or champs. He was well past his prime and out of the game for too long.

When he did he lost. Buster Douglass beat him and made it hard he wasnt washed up then. Tyson got out of jail and had his first fight in 1995. He fought 4 bums before fighting Holyfield. So my question is why couldnt he have fought Foreman before he fought Holyfield??? Foreman had just beat Michael Moorer for the Heavyweight title. Michael Moorer was still there for Tyson to fight too.

Agree with you, when boxer become a big draw, He will call the shots that will give him advantage, example: ring size, glove size and etc while the commission already have the existing rules. Ex:Welter Weight=20x20 ring size, 8oz gloves, 12 rds, testing procedures, and so on, why boxer can demand rules that doesn't align to the commission rules just to gain advantage and Authority doesn't do something about it.

The best way to make that point in all honesty is for die hard fans to turn their back's on the sport. Not saying people have to abandon it forever but treat it like the fans of baseball treated that sport after all their strikes and steroid scandals. That sport lost MILLIONS on fans that just left but started to come back now.
The same treatment can be done and is being done with boxing. Boxing needs to fix their shit before they are barely to a point that they can be profitable.

Look what happened when he fought Marquez, Floyd could not make his weight coz he was taking PED or steroids. Bob and Roach know that Floyd will take another advantage against Pacman. This book was published well before the boxing commuity at large have now found out that Holyfield has been link the steroids and HGH clinics here in florida & elsewhere. ponit being his that people cheat and floyd should be able to request manny to take the test he suspects cheating...

I could not find any link to this Tyson requesting Holyfield to do a random blood test. It's like people blogs this stuff w/o links and all of a sudden people believe it. Sorry, until I see it its not fact. Besides if its true, what are the terms set fort in conducting the test? It would really be hard to believe that Mike Tyson who is built like the Hulk would even consider to have Hollyfield tested.

All in all man I know youre a fan and so am I. It is true that too much power is given to promoters and boxers. One thing I think is a big problem is the number of belts. Probably the biggest problem no1 talks about. There should be 1 belt for each division. Like Manny shouldnt fight Cotto at a catch weight for his 7th title. HE should fight Shane at 147 for his to get the 7th, same for anybody. Everyone is content with having a belt instead of being at the top of a class

@disturbedman360 I also like the rule that if you knock your opponent down, there should be no relief or ten count. You should be able to wait until they get up and then right on them again. Boxing used to be this way. The Marquez fight is a good illustration. Most think he won the 2nd fight against Pacquiao but the fact that he got knocked down and if the no ten count rule is in effect, he would have been done.

One main problem is that there's no one major controlling body in boxing like for example FIFA with football. Each organization is willing to bend over backwards and spread their legs for the top names aslong as they are interested in their belt, they'll do anything to keep them happy and the shame is that the good honest fighters get f'ed in the end like Shane Mosley, B-Hop, cotto etc. Good Rant!

Exactly. They really need one major; commission, committee, or whatever to just govern the whole sport with a final say on EVERYTHING. The problem however is that those groups are all run by little bureaucracies that would all want to be the top of the merged super-governing committee.

I think Archefiend is just saying what's needed to be said about this mess of a sport we call boxing. Unless there is a unified governing body that dictates the rules and regulation (including drug testing) it will always be what it is now, one messed up entity. If such governing body exist that can reign in all the ABCs of boxing then you would not have a situation like PBF ducking the best fighters. He would be forced to fight the best or relinquish the title.

It's a fact that the testing at the moment isn't good enough. It's 40 years old. For example Mosley never got caught, Tommy Morrison admitted he was on steroids, he never got caught. It needs improving.
