"If Chile had followed the plans of the Chicago Boys and implemented a more free system, then Chile would be worlds ahead of where it is today. "
Just wrong, wrong, and disturbingly idiotic. The Chicago school's economic theories were largely followed under Pinochet. Inflation rate skyrocketed and prices increased so workers couldn't even afford bustickets to work, as a result of the mass privatizations.
All the free market fairy tales are nothing but rubbish in light of the neoliberal crisis
Clance: he is British and this his country. He has right to criticize warcrimes of the United State and Brits. Please don't make foolish comments like this.
What gets on my tits is that people like Mr Ali who left Pakistan and came to live in UK (who has an English girlfriend- not Pakistani) keeps attacking USA and their foreign policy and British Foreign Policy to what extent. He sees himself a revolutionary and really is an egothestic conservative who is goes on against the war in Afganistan and Iraq because really he is afraid of having a FATWA on him by Fundamentalist Muslims. Never critices Islam or Iran. worry about your home country Pakistan!
@clance2002 are you stupid so if countries do wrong you should not say anything about it. And did you ever think the wars in the middle east are wrong and are done just for finacial gain. And by your logic only people who are pakistani's should be allowed to say anything about him so if your not pakistani dont talk about him only talk about your people.
@stoadirizer You need to criticise your own people and country of origin before going on an relentless attack on another country and yet he is enjoying the Freedom and the benefits of the West! Why doesn't he go and demonstrate in Pakistan against the Isalmic fundamentalist and the heavy corruption there?
@clance2002 Because the goverment in that country are not invading iraq or funding civil wars are they. How is a relentless attack everything he says are true and i have lived in Pakistan for 5 years in total there are no Isalmic fundamentalist problems you just believe everything you see in the media
@stoadirizer Pakistan has been funding civil war in Afghanistan for years. You went with your British passport in your top pocket for everyone to see to the opulent part of pakistan and made some money or stole some money and had a good time! Tariq Ali lives in a Mansion in Uk and goes to celebrity parties and drives a top class car. I would say sort the mess out in the country of your origin before worrying about others. Pakistanis are not the flag bearer of peace and Islam for the middleEast.
@stoadirizer This is a very ignorant question to ask. We can not say who is worse than who.If you a British Pakistani then I suggest to make Pakistan your permanent home and not use the Freedom and Wealth of the West. Maybe help and educate your people and take Tariq Ali with you. He has become too comfortable in the West. Did he ever speak out about the atrocities that happened and is happening in Iraq;Libyia;Syria;Iran;Sudan;Somalia by their own leaders and government? Did you? No I DONK THINK
@clance2002 no it is not an ignorant question it is because of american pressure pakistan is how it is and nearly all the majour dicators were put into there position by America and England and have u watched every one of his talks
@stoadirizer This is so profoundly misinformed. A huge portion of the world is backwards by western standards and does not respect human rights. We are trying to make the world a better place here and tossing out dictators is a good way to do it. Ali is very hypocritical, he only sees the atrocities of those on the other side, never his own. He is after all speaking at a Marxist forum for blank sake.
Jeez. That by itself is completely hypocritical. The western has supported and *installed* NUMEROUS dictators throughout the world.
Saddam Hussein, the shah in Iran, Augusto Pinochet, Batista, Somoza... The list goes on.
And they have supported Hosni Mubarak, Ben Ali, M.Gaddafi, Zia Ul-Haq a.o.
Any talk of the Western powers trying to improve human rights and make the world a better place is just utter garbage. History is riddled with examples.
America is the only country that fosters its own dissidents. In any other country, they would me locked away forever. Ever heard about a French or German dissident these days? Dont exist.
@lodproductions90 Are you truly suggesting that Germany and France are not liberal democracies? There are plenty of German and French dissidents. Do Americans really live in such a bubble where think they are the only state that isn't a dictatorship.
@xx1994xxversion2 Just saying that I have never heard about German or French dissidents. Yes, France and Germany are not liberal democracies. And the EU, too, is not a liberal democracy. Ask any European... no one ever voted any of those "leaders" into the European parlament, and France and Germany, both, never allowed their citizens to vote for EU membership or the Euro etc. The EU is a dictatorship of the buerocrats, hehe. ;-D
@lodproductions90 I'm not saying the EU isn't un-democratic and I'm also not saying liberal democracy is real democracy. But their is even more dissent against France and Germany than the United States.
@xx1994xxversion2 Maybe there is dissent against France and Germany, in the United States. But in France and Germany, people have never heard about German and French dissidents. Everyone critizises the US, but people who openly go against France and Germany are ignored, coerced, or arrested. Also, there is no reporting about dissent in France and Germany. It is a bit like Iran where there are no gays. In France, there are officially no dissidents. If people demonstrate, they are criminals.
@lodproductions90 The French Communist Party and the German Communist Party would be a good example of official dissent against France and Germany for starters. The US police on protestors is especially brutal compared to other Western states, the only protests you see are Tea Party shit. And I can't really name any notable organization in the United States that is official dissent either.
No doubt the U.S. has problems but it's still the greatest country on the planet. Most of our problems are due to a cruel, failed liberal welfare plantation that exploits mostly poor black Americans for their votes. But, while we have our problems at home, we have never resorted to mass slaughter of our own people, or others for that matter, like have the failed, corrupt ideologies of China, Russia, Cambodia, Germany, Suadia Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, etc.
@ALTERED13TH I don't know what world you live in but the US is horrible. Homeless people, huge crime rates, drug addicts and America is the number one drug purchaser and distributor. There are horrible things and if some other countries are bad, that's because America has made them so by interfering and exploiting. Cuba has no homeless, drug issues, etc, Cuba has better education, health and society. the only problem has been the blockade. American govt is terrorist and creates wars to exploit.
@Iraqisocialist Yes, America has its problems. Racist liberals created a welfare plantation and continued to enslave black people. We have behaved poorly sometimes in war and entered wars we probably should not have entered and settlers slaughtered people who were here before they came here. But Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro, Mao and other leftists slaughtered many more people than Americans ever did and they slaughtered their own people. Cuba is failing, desperately poor and oppresive.
@ALTERED13TH What's hitler got to do with what I said? Im not a Nazi so it's pointless. Castro killed millions? Cuban population was 6 million before Castro and is now 11 million so how he killed millions? The only problem for Cuba has been the embargo which the US has imposed. The US has killed millions in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Latin America, Aghanistan, Iraq, etc. Hitler killed 11 million ppl and the US has killed more than that in the last 30 years alone.
@ALTERED13TH Cuba has some problems, sure, but it has worked miracles with all teh obstacles in their way. Cuba has great education, healthcare, affordable living and much more. It has one of the happiest populations in the world. Cuba could have achieved much more were it not for all the dirty tactics by the US both openly and then secretly. As for Mao and Pol Pot, those were civil wars, and a combination of many things which caused deaths. The numbers provided are not for certain anyway.
@ALTERED13TH have you ever studied the US civil war and how many died during that time? ppl die during wars and the US civil war was one of the bloodiest ever. In some battles alone, 100,000 died at one time and there were many like that were 25,000 or more died. These are just during battles and not the entire war. USA is also one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Detroit, St Louis, DC, etc have high murder rates. Iraq had the best living standards in teh region before the war in 91
@Iraqisocialist The US fought to end slavery largely motivated by JudeoChristian morals. Many people died. And leftists have created a modern day welfare plantation to move blacks folks back to slavery, this time with the government being master. Thus, we have Detroit, Cleveland and St. Louis, etc. But, radical, leftist collectivists like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez and other scum killed tens of millions of their own people. Sodomite Husain was a piece of shit killer.
WOW I don't know who this @ALTERED13TH is but he is so right.... and I do live in the US. I am a citizen, I am a vet. As far as the US being the greatest terrorist on earth, well like so many other military I saw my "ah huh moment".
This guy's schtick is transparent. He makes good points and uses specific historical examples to make himself seem like an authority. But he mixes these with sophistries and hysteria, to say nothing of his totally bankrupt endgame: socialism. I don't really see how you can get more ridiculous than quoting Lenin and pimping a failed ideology based on an interesting but flawed philosophy as -- and this is the most amazing thing -- the way to generate wealth for the poor and end corruption!

After being in the service during the Viet Era I can say that the U.S. is a nation of hypocrisy. It makes this big premier advertisement for itself. It pretends to care to stand for decency and democracy and all the while it is simply a show. The real story is economic exploitation and a constant drum beat of wars and endless wars to take care of The Pentagon, the uniformed swindlers and their caretakers from places like Raytheon, General Electric, Westinghouse etc. The corporation as fuhrer.
I had no idea Gianfranco Fini was part of the (fascist) Italian Social Movement (MSI). Jesus christ, has the Italian public lost their marbles? As someone living in the U.S. I guess I can't really say much, but damn, that's some crazy shit.
@khelbenrage Capitalism is the most successful economic system ever developed by man and the U.S. is the most free and democratic country in the history of man. That's why so many people from failed, violent, corrupt Islamic Fascist countries want to move here. So many Muslims become terrorists because Islam, for some reason, either makes people mentally ill or appeals to people who already are. It's good to see the revolutions against the thugs occurring in Egypt, Libya, etc.
@ALTERED13TH I will not debate larger problems with your logic because this is not the place to educate a person. But please study history for god's sakes.
Just your first phrase is so wrong at so many levels, I really dont know where to begin.
Just 4 facts.
The US is the greatest terrorist around.
The capitalist system is bankrupt.
The whole economic system is broken.
Massive concentration of wealth, massive poverty.
The only thing that keeps the system going is the lack of an alternative.
@khelbenrage You finally figured things out. It's the lack of a better alternative, in part, that makes capitalism and the U.S. the most successful democratic republic ever in world history. Canada, India, Australia, England, the U.S. are all the most successful, free countries in the world and all based on English Common Law. Compared to collectivist, Marxist mental illness that lead to left wing thugs like Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro or mentally ill Muslim ideology we are saviors.
@ALTERED13TH You are complety propagandised. The US is far from "the most successful democratic republic ever in world history"
How do you messure this? Health, education, housing, distribution of wealth...
There are far better examples. The US is still in the upper hand since de WW2, being the only country not in ruins.
And I think colectivism is the ugly sister of capitalism. Both suffer from the same problems that in the end will break the capitalist system as well. Concentration of wealth.
@khelbenrage Yes, on all accounts we are superior to any nation. The poor in America are spoiled for they know not true poverty the way the rest of the world knows it. They lack not food, excellent health care, housing, access to the finest education, and many other luxuries such as cars, electronics, etc. I would say that collectivism, a left wing philosophical and political construct, which spawned Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez is an ugly, violent abortion, bastard.
@ALTERED13TH Well you are completly wrong. I live in Chile and we dont have the number of homeless you have. In fact you can have a free house in Chile if you dont have one... It s not a big house, but we dont have the number of homeless I saw in the US... thousands on each city.
65% of the wealth in 5% of the people...shameless
no sir. The US is not an example of kindness with your fellow citizen
And by the way your quality of education is number 38
@khelbenrage Our homeless mostly suffer from drug and alcohol addiction and mental illness who don't want help and choose to live on the streets. We don't have much of a problem with true homelessness here. Our concentration of wealth is no big deal here. We have very few truly poor people here and a great deal of opportunity which is why so many Mexicans, Central Americans and others try to come here to live often illegally.
@ALTERED13TH Your visibly lack of any sociology, medical and economics background my friend. If you did you would at least have the capability of reversing those thoughts of yours and considering the possibility that alcohol & drugs are a consequence of being homeless, not a cause. And if the homeless you so speak of were on the streets because of mental illness, well that is quite a big problem my friend; leaving sick people on the streets to fend for themselves is not acceptable.
@ALTERED13TH Moreover saying there are very few poor people in America is absurd. Approximately 43.6 (14.3%) million Americans were living in poverty in 2009, up from 39.8 million (13.2%) in 2008 (Reuters).
@gramoukdoom No, we don't have any truly poor people in America like much of the rest of the world does. Everybody in American has a place to live, except mentally ill, drug and alcohol addicted people, and they all have access to health care and plenty of food and clothing and education. There are no poor in America only lazy.
@MrPilotans Seriously, we do not have any truly poor people in American, only stupid, ignorant and lazy who don't want to take advantage of the opportunity this country provides. We should eliminate welfare.
@ALTERED13TH .lol wow.are you serious?thats te most pathetic nonsense ive ever heard.Stupid, ignorant fits you much better than the homeless. You have all the wealth in the hands of a few,all the power in the hands of a few and a joke of a democratic system.
When the US deinstitutionalized mental health facilities, they literally just released their mentally ill patients onto the streets. Hence, the large numbers of mentally ill homeless people we have. When you are mentally ill, you may have limited understanding of your options. Hence, they may not even be aware of opportunities America has. Furthermore, those who are mentally ill may self medicated with alcohol and drugs in order to cope with their anxieties.
@khelbenrage (6/7) A basic understanding of economics leads us to know that it is the free market economic system of the United States, and not any innate quality, that has led America to greater wealth than the rest of the world. If Chile had followed the plans of the Chicago Boys and implemented a more free system, then Chile would be worlds ahead of where it is today.
@khelbenrage (5/7) Ultimately, what must be remembered is the leftists strive for fairness, not overall success. That is the fundamental philosophical difference between right and wrong, I mean right and left. That explains why they would think America’s economy is worse than Chile’s economy, or that of any other poorer socialist country.
@khelbenrage (3/7) Would any objective observer ever choose to live in country B over country A? No. But the International Left, still reeling from the fall of its great Marxist experiment in 1991, has too fragile an ego to admit this, so baboons will continue to argue that Chile, Venezuela and other socialist countries are better off than America.
@khelbenrage (2.5/7) Let’s now, just as a thought exercise, imagine two countries; country A and country B. In country A income disparity is high but even the poor are better off than the average citizen of country B. In country B everyone is the same, but overall are worse than the poor in country A.
@khelbenrage (1/7) It is true that Chile’s poverty rate is below the US poverty rate, but this is very misleading. The GDP per Capita of the US, or the Gross Product of the entire economy divided by the country’s population, is 47,000 USD per year (2010), while Chile’s GDP per Capita is 12,000 USD per year for the same period. In the United States, poverty rate is defined as a family living on less than 22,000 USD per year, well above the overall average family income for families in Chile.
@khelbenrage How do those workers which produce the blood, sweet, and tears of their labor to build those homes come from? Also how is a fair wage for their labor determined? Surely you don't believe in government slavery over it's citizens (I think you do). America does not and hasn't had free market capitalism for over 100 years. What you are describing is your works posioning free trade and competition to determine fair wages for all. America is corporatism NOT capitalism.
@khelbenrage An education system in America is based upon unionized government monopoly micro managing it. The American doesn't teach people in America about free market economics and civil liberties of the philosophy of classic liberalism (freedom). So yes the gov't union which doesn't allow competition (school choice/vouchers) are degrading and will continue until true competition is implimented to overthrow bad tenured teachers that only care about their paycheck and job security.
Wow. I am not poor with God's blessing....I work and I go to school and I do not even have health care. I am wondering what this GREAT HEALTHCARE that you claim the poor have is? Because I been looking into my options and I cannot afford healthcare.
@khelbenrage no not lack of alternative laCK OF COMPASSION and increase of indifference and mysticism, irationality, nationalism, religion and stupidity there are alternatives you will find them if you cared!
@khelbenrage not lack of alternative but rather a lack of intelligence and obdience of the general public there are socialists, keynesianists, social democrats, communists and anarchists in all direction but they are neglected so you have to go out and find them!
@khelbenrage agreed. The alternative would be a truly social grass roots coalition. Most people in America want a new "new deal". What prevents it more than money is the election laws which prevents the alternative. There could be a coalition of greens, socialists(if they don't use the demonized name), working and middle class democrats and republicans, poor whites, blacks and latinons, who could beat the hell out of the repukes and democraps in municipal, state and federal elections.
@emotionalinvalid always the ones in power will try to keep it. For things to change we need the will of the whole planet to change the meaning of wealth. Money is no more wealth than a an inch is a material.
You dont stop a construction because you are out of inchs...
Now they are about to stop production of food because they are out of money. It is just an alucination and a dangerous one. People are mistaking simbols in their minds with reality, it s just a disaster.
@ALTERED13TH .Im not responding to your comments again after this, because you are obv sick in the head. Most democratic?rofl!! electoral college system, harder for any 3rd party to get on the ballot compared to every other 1st world nation,a corrupt two party circus that has the same policies in things that are actually important, etc, etc. No point deating or even responding to you.Youre either a troll or the just another simple minded, ignorant douchebag who thinks hes free.
On 16 December 1971, General Jagjit Singh Arora General-Officer-Commanding In-Chief of the Indian Army accepted surrender by Pakistani General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi and 93,000 Pakistani forces. This was the largest number of POWs since World War II. Pakistan lost 140,000sq.km of area.
Tariq Ali supports the racist, failed, terrorist, apartheid state of Pakistan that was founded on the ethnic cleansing of millions of Hindus and Sikhs. Pakistan is a fascist state that sentences christians to death for blasphemy. Pakistan has no right to exist. Ali is an islamofascist for supporting racist Pakistan.
Then no other nation has the right to exist, either. Israel has no right to exist for its racist policies towards Palestinians. The USA has no right to exist, due to the institutional racism effecting all of its non-white citizens. Russia has no right to exist for its policies towards the Chechens. If we accept that States are valid representatives of their respective populations, then we must accept that much for all States regardless of its institutional structure.
@Bolshevik71 In Ali's book "The Duel" when speaking of Pakistan says, "The most important aspect of the duel is not the highly publicized conflict in Wariristan, but the divide between the majority of the people and their corrupt, uncaring rulers. This duel is often fought without weapons, sometimes in the mind, but it never goes away." He does not appear to be blindly backing the Pakistani regime; or for that matter, any regime over any country's citizenry.
@JRM733 A more clear example is when he states why he continues to write about Pakistan. This is his 3rd book. He says, "However much I despise the callousness, corruption, and narcissism of a degenerate ruling elite, I have never allowed that to define my attitude toward the country. I have always harbored a deep respect and affection for the common people, whose instincts and intelligence, despite high levels of illiteracy...
@JRM733 ...consistently display a much sounder appreciation of what the country requires than those who have lorded it over them since 1947. Any independent-minded Pakistani journalist or writer will confirm this view."
@lapwiz. You haven't answered my question on who you think is a better president than Ronald Reagan. America is the greatest nation and it will be that for as long as the Conservative Party and the Republican Party hold firm to their core beliefs. Which
@TheGerryjoy I'm an American. I find your question irrelevant and rather childish. Every time I hear "America is the greatest this or that" it usually precedes a fascist, meaningless, emotionally cheap statement by people that never even been on an plane or know any other country or culture. There's no such a thing as a "conservative" party in America. You seem to adopt falsehoods as facts in support of right wing propaganda. Reagan was a lunatic moron and a disaster for this country. Tin hat BS
It is a well known fact that Castro used the nuclear card under the pressure of the missile crisis and of invasion by the US, which happened and failed.
George W. Bush said before the invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan that the use of tactical nuclear strikes were part of the military arsenal, and were on the table as alternatives. We all heard that on national evening news at the time. Did he mean it, or was just "nuclear scare card"?
I agree that we should be highly critical of the destructive capitalist machine. But Tariq, 'Axis of Hope' ?... Hugo Chavez ? Sir, please, you are glorifying a man who directly opposes what you utilize, freedom of speech and expression. Castro? The man who expressed disappointment at not having nuclear war with the US?
Lets not support the destructive nature of US imperialism, but lets not support those who oppose it for their personal ends at the expense of the people they should be serving.
@brendonuc Hugo Chavez repressed freedom of opinion and expression in Venezuela?
You haven't been to Venezuela yet, have you? Are you talking about the TV channel denial of license of public owned airwaves? John Pilger debunked that a few years ago. You seem to have believed in right wing propaganda, they're the only ones still saying that.
Catro never said he wished for a nuclear war. That is more propaganda. You don't know much about the history of latin america and the Caribe, obviously.
@lapwiz don't know if its worth it but, here we go. You're assumtions as just as incorrect as are Tariq's. I have traveled Venezuela, I am married to a Venezuelan, I have also lived in the United States, China, Great Britian, and the Netherlands. Many in my family in law voted for Chavez, but now fervently oppose his policy. Castro: "with more than words...the logical answer was missiles." Im not a scholar on the history of Latin America, but I seriously doubt that you can claim that.
@brendonuc I rest my case as far as your "knowledge" of Latin American politics.
When the US commits war crimes, political assassinations, illegal invasions, corruption, military and economic bullying, regime change whenever a particular state doesn't bow to it, and being the only power ever to use a nuclear weapon on civilians, it is fine. Castro's bad chosen appeal to Kruschev at the time, " bomb the US if they invade Cuba", which he recanted 40 years ago, is a capital sin to you.
@lapwiz oh sigh. Im not arguing any of the things you are bantering about above. I actually support a defensive-only US military force, and am fervently opposed to US imperialist behavior. My original comment merely attempts to point out the hypocritical polemic and misguided predictions that Tariq is making. Chavez is disregarding the constitution of Venezuela by seeking decree powers 4 times in 9 years, nationalizing small farms, persecuting political opponents and seeking endless rule.
@lapwiz i oppose anyone using nuclear weapons under any circumstances.. are you telling me I am wrong to oppose Castro wanting to use them ? (by the way, I never divulged my adamant opposition to the US bombings of Japan.. ah, in case you were hoping to discredit me with physical presence again, yes, Ive been to Hiroshima as well)
@brendonuc I too believe there's no such a thing as "responsible": use of WMDs, despite the propaganda (nowadays with the Persians) uranium enrichment quest. We can do without all nukes. It is a threat to the planet's survival. I'm not a pacifist, however.
@brendonuc.Furthermore, Why is it okay for the US to have nuclear missiles in Turkey, aimed at Russia, but it was not okay for the former USSR to place them in Cuba? If it was up to me we would do with them all.
But in any event, in the end Castro won, the US settled on the promise of never invading for the return of the ships. You don't need a PhD. to know that. However my academic background is a triple major in history/poly-sci/philosophy. I have attended several lectures and read TA. You?
@lapwiz buddy, listen.. if you took philosophy then you must have learned how to argue. You are arguing things to me, that I agree with, and never prompted with a counter argument. "why is it ok for the US to have nuclear missles..." Listen, I never said it was... Also, propping yourself with your credentials in an argument of this nature is like telling your opponent in a fight you've clearly lost that you were trained by Pei Mei. It doesn't help at all. Best to you, bye.
@brendonuc I would urge you to look into the evidence for yourself, not second hand, specially from family members that are bias towards an upper class logic. The reality in Venezuela, as far as the repression of freedom of speech is a bold lie, and anyone can experience that for themselves by being there and watch the right wing commissars broadcast 24/7 against Chavez. He did turned down one channel's quest to renewal, then used that channell for a public channel. The right demonstrate daily.
@lapwiz There are no restriction for public expression or of assembly in the streets of Caracas. I saw 3 large demonstration con-Chaves in Caracas, spoke with locals about it, debated with many, and these charges are false in every regard. Those same charges were placed on Lula in Brazil, and they turned out to be baseless.
Many a time, presidents of the US ruled bt decree, GWB is the most recent example of it. Chavez did get permission to both houses, vis-a-vis the presidential system.
@lapwiz Moreover. Why would the Venezuela landscape be any different than any other country regarding media wars? We have the same issue in the US today with pundits on both sides representing their particular elite's agenda? When in the history of american imperialism, or any for that matter, have we been informed of the reality of both; reasons for military aggression, and that of the other side, in a far fashion? Never, truth is the first casualty of any war.Reasonable men is our last resort.
@TheGerryjoy Anyone without Alzheimer's, who didn't consulted with astrologers on critical matters of state, and didn't watch Star Wars as if it was a documentary.
This is just Allah's plan to punish pseudo pakistani muslims who wont even follow shariah... I have no sympathy for pakistanis watsoever. I wish allah punishes them even more.
@TheGerryjoy Those are myths demolished long ago.
You are incorrect on ever point you mention.
See:TEN MYTHS ABOUT RONALD REAGAN'S PRESIDENCY
By Nick Gier, Professor Emeritus, University of Idaho
Or you can read:Tear Down This Myth By William Bunch.
Plenty have been published to dispel those myths.
In fact, Reagan raised more taxes and grew the size of the GOV and increased spending than any other President in the history of the republic. Those are old facts.
@lapwiz Furthermore, only GWB expanded the gov and raised deficits further only to run the nation into a catastrophic meltdown with even more deregulation of the financial market.
So, Bush takes the "oscar" for the biggest spender on borrowing on future taxes than Reagan did.
You're old enough to know that, c'mon , it's not rocket science.
@lapwiz You're giving credit where credit is not due...pointing at a puppet. You think it was Reagan who who spent all that money? The ones who run the SHOW, make sure to hire "clueless" puppets or yes men like Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush Jr, and Obama. Who was it thats built the 130 nation empire with 800 military bases to guard it? Was it a president?
@ultraphonic1. When I mentioned Reagan or Bush, it is obvious that I was referring to their administrations, policies, and doctrine. Both Republicans and democrats are two factions of the same party, the business party that is. They both represent elites. The US lacks a workers' party to represent their interests, when the usual suspects just want their vote every 4 years. I Agree, large economic interests buy their way into using the state for their own gain. That's how all empires were built.
Tariq is great but the old left will never understand that there are real alternatives, different from Marxism, to this dehumanizing, cruel, dysfunctional system and they target the root of it - the sovereign nation-state. Anarchism is the only alternative that imagines a world beyond the state.
So you're european! The continent of the lazy people. What? working 1 day a week and jerking off the rest? The land of the marxists , socialists, communists? You must be proud of that. We generous Americans put food on your plates, roof over your empty heads, heat in the winter and medicine. And that's the fact! You are ungrateful, ANashuu. By the way, I exclude America's allies like Britain and others to my statement. ;)
@GayPeruvians There are a lot left of your kind in your crumbling empire and that is the problem. Idiots and morons like you were incubated by the millions during the great times of Reaganomics.
Mr. Terrorist, let's set aside class envy and get the records straight. History is very clear on America. We were the high and mighty before and we still are to this day. It is the freedom land and the home of the brave. Got it? Hahaha!
@GayPeruvians your joking right ? i love how you talk about freedom and yet you have patriot act in America stupid fag America home of the slaves, United States of bankers
First of all ANashuu I'm a non believer. I don't believe in a Moron Alah who gives virgins to shallow minded terrorist and rag head muslims like you. You and your terrorists friends are feeling the wrath of America and there's nothing you can do about it. We have the guns and all you have is camel dung and what? Stink us to death with foul body odor? Lol
@TheGerryjoy You are owned by the Saudi Arabia red neck prick! Read about the petrodollar, before talking! And for your knowledge, i'm not arab, or muslim, or every shit you assume, american scum, i;m an european atheist who is fed up with USA's hypocrisy! And i piss on your flag, country and weapons! You are so well armed and trained you lost every war you created in the last 50 years, and now some people in the caves, wearing sandals and armed only with AK's piss on you every day in Afghanistan!
@TheGerryjoy And don't talk crap about muslims religion, faggot, they at least have one original religion, not like you american evangelical pieces of shit, who stole everything from everyone! You don't even have your own language! You stole rugby and you play it with helmepts and pampons, like faggots, and call it american football! And let's not forget you are now in deep economical shit, and have a black president who's surname is Hussein! You are fucking jokes, obese Prozac illiterates!
i like tariq and his ideas, but why does he mix this petty humour into topics that are utterly serious. It seems he has some intellectual smugness in the fact that he has been able to collect these albeit morally correct ideas, that lead him joke about such things. the only emotions that i feel when i think about all the political issues that face humanity are apprehension, sadness and anger not joy and humour.
@DoucheInUse A world without humour is a DEAD world! No matter what happens, people must keep their humour! And discusing important things with humour makes the listener enjoy the lecture and understand easier important things!
Socialism, fascism, monarchy, feudal systems are all the same...centralized power. Greed of government and their supporters has brought the EU to bankruptcy. Anti capitalist ideals? What? Who creates the money, the jobs.
@jackflack1516 No they are not. If we lowered taxes then we could create new jobs. Are you saying the USA should not trade with China and India, Europe and Latin America.
Because America would be exactly like China if they introduced some sensible amount of regulation? Because that's the equivalent to a dictatorial state capitalist regime?
@monkeywithsticks No idea what you are taking about. Chinas government should make sure their children are at school. Not working. That is their governments job.
@monkeywithsticks "normal government"...how is that the fault of capitalism??? They are poor because of communism that ruined China for years. Why should countries turn to communism that clearly creates poverty.
I'm not a communist myself, but to be fair, that wasn't and isn't communism, its state capitalism.
Isolated communist countries will never flourish economically. BUT the idea that the brand of neo-liberal supercapitalism that we have today creates wealth for the people at large is straight up bullshit. Lies. Propaganda. The claims of trickle down economics are simply just non-existent in practice.
@monkeywithsticks State capitalism has a market price. Communism has a government set price. Communism is worse. Capitalism does create wealth, sadly governments do not allow everyone access to the wealth.
No state capitalism as in, when the government controls the productive forces without allowing a socialistic distribution of the wealth.
Explain exactly how governments prevent access to the wealth. I can think of one way: they don't tax the rich. But why do they do this? Because those who are in big business pressure them into this under the facade of trickle down economics. BIG BUSINESS ARE SUCKING THE WEALTH OUT OF THE POPULATION, is there anything easier to understand.
@monkeywithsticks That is communism. Capitalism is people owning things, you cannot actually have state capitalism, they can play in the markets but they are socialist as the government has the money. When politicians say socialism and communism they mean government ownership and wealth for the government.
Have you ever considered that the money has become more and more concentrated in a few individuals the less the private sector is regulated? Have you noticed that there's an awful lot of 'centralized power' among the biggest corporations in the world? That trickle down economics are stupid in this context because the middle class can't AFFORD to spend, and the rich mostly put it in the bank or invest overseas? Have you considered that the current model is what fucked us over?
@monkeywithsticks "Have you ever considered that the money has become more and more concentrated in a few individuals"...I am guessing you are meaning communism, where the government has all the money and power and people have nothing. "middle class can't AFFORD to spend"..the middle class by global standards are mega rich. Hence the trickle down effect has worked.
these revolutionaries like Noam Chomsky, Tariq Ali etc have all become nothing more than a far left media circus for the leftist public. It's a substitute for the media circus of the far right. They're entertainment.
@originaljawz Oh please! I heard some ridiculous cynical claims during my 40 years of activism, yours is just silly at best. You're just reducing MIT's head of Linguistics and the Oxford's head of the history department and make their work, thought and acts futile attempts to gain 15 minutes of fame in the mainstream media circus.
I would go further to say you haven't met neither nor have you ever read them nor have left that pathetic couch of yours to join a single social movement.
Oh well, if that is what passes for an "argument" in your little planet, I guess I should accept your orders and resign from this forum then.
Your comment is a cynical, stereo-typifying, over-simplification and pure mechanical thinking. Obviously you never read nor met neither of these men, then decided to wax eloquent without any depth or substance.
Ps: I'm 19 years older than you, Sir. Not that it means anything any way.
Don't feel bad about it. Those in power in America regard you just as unimportant
as anyone else in the 3rd world. 50 years of massive propaganda has kept Americans too busy to think outside their borders and enter the capitalist rat race.
Only Americans can bring this shameful system down, because it is in their interest
They don't let monkeys head Oxford's history department.
Dr. Tariq Ali is a brilliant man and his voice counts in the international left.
Heads of state consult with him. He is one of a very small elite of intellectuals with an unique view of the world, and the academic background to back it up.

@stoadirizer You need to criticise your own people and country of origin before going on an relentless attack on another country and yet he is enjoying the Freedom and the benefits of the West! @clance2002 Because the goverment in that country are not invading iraq or funding civil wars are they. stoadirizer 2 months ago
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@Ethanaxelrod
It's about their *interests*.

xx1994xxversion2 4 months ago
@xx1994xxversion2 Just saying that I have never heard about German or French dissidents. Yes, France and Germany are not liberal democracies. And the EU, too, is not a liberal democracy. Ask any European... no one ever voted any of those "leaders" into the European parlament, and France and Germany, both, never allowed their citizens to vote for EU membership or the Euro etc. The EU is a dictatorship of the buerocrats, hehe. ;-D
lodproductions90 4 months ago
@lodproductions90 I'm not saying the EU isn't un-democratic and I'm also not saying liberal democracy is real democracy. But their is even more dissent against France and Germany than the United States.
xx1994xxversion2 4 months ago
@xx1994xxversion2 Maybe there is dissent against France and Germany, in the United States. But in France and Germany, people have never heard about German and French dissidents. Everyone critizises the US, but people who openly go against France and Germany are ignored, coerced, or arrested. Also, there is no reporting about dissent in France and Germany. It is a bit like Iran where there are no gays. In France, there are officially no dissidents. If people demonstrate, they are criminals.
lodproductions90 4 months ago
@lodproductions90 The French Communist Party and the German Communist Party would be a good example of official dissent against France and Germany for starters. The US police on protestors is especially brutal compared to other Western states, the only protests you see are Tea Party shit. And I can't really name any notable organization in the United States that is official dissent either.
xx1994xxversion2 4 months ago
No doubt the U.S. has problems but it's still the greatest country on the planet. Most of our problems are due to a cruel, failed liberal welfare plantation that exploits mostly poor black Americans for their votes. But, while we have our problems at home, we have never resorted to mass slaughter of our own people, or others for that matter, like have the failed, corrupt ideologies of China, Russia, Cambodia, Germany, Suadia Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, etc.
ALTERED13TH 7 months ago
@ALTERED13TH I don't know what world you live in but the US is horrible. Homeless people, huge crime rates, drug addicts and America is the number one drug purchaser and distributor. There are horrible things and if some other countries are bad, that's because America has made them so by interfering and exploiting. Cuba has no homeless, drug issues, etc, Cuba has better education, health and society. the only problem has been the blockade. American govt is terrorist and creates wars to exploit.
Iraqisocialist 6 months ago
@Iraqisocialist Yes, America has its problems. Racist liberals created a welfare plantation and continued to enslave black people. We have behaved poorly sometimes in war and entered wars we probably should not have entered and settlers slaughtered people who were here before they came here. But Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro, Mao and other leftists slaughtered many more people than Americans ever did and they slaughtered their own people. Cuba is failing, desperately poor and oppresive.
ALTERED13TH 6 months ago
@ALTERED13TH What's hitler got to do with what I said? Im not a Nazi so it's pointless. Castro killed millions? Cuban population was 6 million before Castro and is now 11 million so how he killed millions? The only problem for Cuba has been the embargo which the US has imposed. The US has killed millions in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Latin America, Aghanistan, Iraq, etc. Hitler killed 11 million ppl and the US has killed more than that in the last 30 years alone.
Iraqisocialist 6 months ago
@ALTERED13TH Cuba has some problems, sure, but it has worked miracles with all teh obstacles in their way. Cuba has great education, healthcare, affordable living and much more. It has one of the happiest populations in the world. Cuba could have achieved much more were it not for all the dirty tactics by the US both openly and then secretly. As for Mao and Pol Pot, those were civil wars, and a combination of many things which caused deaths. The numbers provided are not for certain anyway.
Iraqisocialist 6 months ago
@ALTERED13TH have you ever studied the US civil war and how many died during that time? ppl die during wars and the US civil war was one of the bloodiest ever. In some battles alone, 100,000 died at one time and there were many like that were 25,000 or more died. These are just during battles and not the entire war. USA is also one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Detroit, St Louis, DC, etc have high murder rates. Iraq had the best living standards in teh region before the war in 91
Iraqisocialist 6 months ago
@Iraqisocialist The US fought to end slavery largely motivated by JudeoChristian morals. Many people died. And leftists have created a modern day welfare plantation to move blacks folks back to slavery, this time with the government being master. Thus, we have Detroit, Cleveland and St. Louis, etc. But, radical, leftist collectivists like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez and other scum killed tens of millions of their own people. Sodomite Husain was a piece of shit killer.

Just your first phrase is so wrong at so many levels, I really dont know where to begin.
Just 4 facts.
The US is the greatest terrorist around.
The capitalist system is bankrupt.
The whole economic system is broken.
Massive concentration of wealth, massive poverty.
The only thing that keeps the system going is the lack of an alternative.
khelbenrage 10 months ago 32
@khelbenrage You finally figured things out. It's the lack of a better alternative, in part, that makes capitalism and the U.S. the most successful democratic republic ever in world history. Canada, India, Australia, England, the U.S. are all the most successful, free countries in the world and all based on English Common Law. Compared to collectivist, Marxist mental illness that lead to left wing thugs like Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro or mentally ill Muslim ideology we are saviors.
ALTERED13TH 10 months ago
@ALTERED13TH You are complety propagandised. The US is far from "the most successful democratic republic ever in world history"
How do you messure this? Health, education, housing, distribution of wealth...
There are far better examples. The US is still in the upper hand since de WW2, being the only country not in ruins.
And I think colectivism is the ugly sister of capitalism. Both suffer from the same problems that in the end will break the capitalist system as well. Concentration of wealth.
khelbenrage 10 months ago
@khelbenrage Yes, on all accounts we are superior to any nation. The poor in America are spoiled for they know not true poverty the way the rest of the world knows it. They lack not food, excellent health care, housing, access to the finest education, and many other luxuries such as cars, electronics, etc. I would say that collectivism, a left wing philosophical and political construct, which spawned Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez is an ugly, violent abortion, bastard.

khelbenrage 10 months ago 43
@khelbenrage Our homeless mostly suffer from drug and alcohol addiction and mental illness who don't want help and choose to live on the streets. We don't have much of a problem with true homelessness here. Our concentration of wealth is no big deal here. We have very few truly poor people here and a great deal of opportunity which is why so many Mexicans, Central Americans and others try to come here to live often illegally.
ALTERED13TH 10 months ago
@ALTERED13TH Your visibly lack of any sociology, medical and economics background my friend. If you did you would at least have the capability of reversing those thoughts of yours and considering the possibility that alcohol & drugs are a consequence of being homeless, not a cause. And if the homeless you so speak of were on the streets because of mental illness, well that is quite a big problem my friend; leaving sick people on the streets to fend for themselves is not acceptable.
gramoukdoom 10 months ago
@ALTERED13TH Moreover saying there are very few poor people in America is absurd. Approximately 43.6 (14.3%) million Americans were living in poverty in 2009, up from 39.8 million (13.2%) in 2008 (Reuters).
Fact. Now get a grip and read some books.
gramoukdoom 10 months ago
@gramoukdoom No, we don't have any truly poor people in America like much of the rest of the world does.

@khelbenrage (7/7) All this poverty, suffering and misery was created by leftists seeking a better world even after their ideas had been disproven.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (6/7) A basic understanding of economics leads us to know that it is the free market economic system of the United States, and not any innate quality, that has led America to greater wealth than the rest of the world. If Chile had followed the plans of the Chicago Boys and implemented a more free system, then Chile would be worlds ahead of where it is today.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (5/7) Ultimately, what must be remembered is the leftists strive for fairness, not overall success. That is the fundamental philosophical difference between right and wrong, I mean right and left. That explains why they would think America’s economy is worse than Chile’s economy, or that of any other poorer socialist country.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (4/7) Are they in the twilight zone? Of course, but don’t tell them that.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (3/7) Would any objective observer ever choose to live in country B over country A? No. But the International Left, still reeling from the fall of its great Marxist experiment in 1991, has too fragile an ego to admit this, so baboons will continue to argue that Chile, Venezuela and other socialist countries are better off than America.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (2.5/7) Let’s now, just as a thought exercise, imagine two countries; country A and country B. In country A income disparity is high but even the poor are better off than the average citizen of country B. In country B everyone is the same, but overall are worse than the poor in country A.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (2/7) These statistics are similar for Venezuela and Cuba.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage (1/7) It is true that Chile’s poverty rate is below the US poverty rate, but this is very misleading. The GDP per Capita of the US, or the Gross Product of the entire economy divided by the country’s population, is 47,000 USD per year (2010), while Chile’s GDP per Capita is 12,000 USD per year for the same period. In the United States, poverty rate is defined as a family living on less than 22,000 USD per year, well above the overall average family income for families in Chile.
Ethanaxelrod 1 month ago
@khelbenrage How do those workers which produce the blood, sweet, and tears of their labor to build those homes come from? Also how is a fair wage for their labor determined? Surely you don't believe in government slavery over it's citizens (I think you do). America does not and hasn't had free market capitalism for over 100 years. What you are describing is your works posioning free trade and competition to determine fair wages for all. America is corporatism NOT capitalism.

@khelbenrage An education system in America is based upon unionized government monopoly micro managing it.

TARIQ ALI IS A FUCKING MUSLIM CUNT

This has been flagged as spam show
Tariq Ali supports the racist, failed, terrorist, apartheid state of Pakistan that was founded on the ethnic cleansing of millions of Hindus and Sikhs. Pakistan is a fascist state that sentences christians to death for blasphemy. Pakistan has no right to exist. Ali is an islamofascist for supporting racist Pakistan.
Bolshevik71 1 year ago
@Bolshevik71 apartheid ? lol you are just a jealous fagg get a life and do check the definition pf apartheid
jaminjava2 1 year ago
@Bolshevik71
Then no other nation has the right to exist, either. Israel has no right to exist for its racist policies towards Palestinians. The USA has no right to exist, due to the institutional racism effecting all of its non-white citizens. Russia has no right to exist for its policies towards the Chechens. If we accept that States are valid representatives of their respective populations, then we must accept that much for all States regardless of its institutional structure.
rtnslnd 1 year ago
@Bolshevik71 In Ali's book "The Duel" when speaking of Pakistan says, "The most important aspect of the duel is not the highly publicized conflict in Wariristan, but the divide between the majority of the people and their corrupt, uncaring rulers. This duel is often fought without weapons, sometimes in the mind, but it never goes away." He does not appear to be blindly backing the Pakistani regime; or for that matter, any regime over any country's citizenry.
JRM733 1 year ago
@JRM733 A more clear example is when he states why he continues to write about Pakistan. This is his 3rd book. He says, "However much I despise the callousness, corruption, and narcissism of a degenerate ruling elite, I have never allowed that to define my attitude toward the country. I have always harbored a deep respect and affection for the common people, whose instincts and intelligence, despite high levels of illiteracy...
JRM733 1 year ago
@JRM733 ...consistently display a much sounder appreciation of what the country requires than those who have lorded it over them since 1947. Any independent-minded Pakistani journalist or writer will confirm this view."

Tin hat BS
lapwiz 1 year ago
It is a well known fact that Castro used the nuclear card under the pressure of the missile crisis and of invasion by the US, which happened and failed.
George W. Bush said before the invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan that the use of tactical nuclear strikes were part of the military arsenal, and were on the table as alternatives. We all heard that on national evening news at the time. Did he mean it, or was just "nuclear scare card"?
lapwiz 1 year ago
I agree that we should be highly critical of the destructive capitalist machine. But Tariq, 'Axis of Hope' ?... Hugo Chavez ? Sir, please, you are glorifying a man who directly opposes what you utilize, freedom of speech and expression. Castro? The man who expressed disappointment at not having nuclear war with the US?
Lets not support the destructive nature of US imperialism, but lets not support those who oppose it for their personal ends at the expense of the people they should be serving.
brendonuc 1 year ago
@brendonuc Hugo Chavez repressed freedom of opinion and expression in Venezuela?
You haven't been to Venezuela yet, have you? Are you talking about the TV channel denial of license of public owned airwaves? John Pilger debunked that a few years ago. You seem to have believed in right wing propaganda, they're the only ones still saying that.
Catro never said he wished for a nuclear war. That is more propaganda. You don't know much about the history of latin america and the Caribe, obviously.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz don't know if its worth it but, here we go. You're assumtions as just as incorrect as are Tariq's. I have traveled Venezuela, I am married to a Venezuelan, I have also lived in the United States, China, Great Britian, and the Netherlands. Many in my family in law voted for Chavez, but now fervently oppose his policy. Castro: "with more than words...the logical answer was missiles." Im not a scholar on the history of Latin America, but I seriously doubt that you can claim that.
brendonuc 1 year ago
@brendonuc I rest my case as far as your "knowledge" of Latin American politics.
When the US commits war crimes, political assassinations, illegal invasions, corruption, military and economic bullying, regime change whenever a particular state doesn't bow to it, and being the only power ever to use a nuclear weapon on civilians, it is fine. Castro's bad chosen appeal to Kruschev at the time, " bomb the US if they invade Cuba", which he recanted 40 years ago, is a capital sin to you.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz oh sigh. Im not arguing any of the things you are bantering about above. I actually support a defensive-only US military force, and am fervently opposed to US imperialist behavior. My original comment merely attempts to point out the hypocritical polemic and misguided predictions that Tariq is making. Chavez is disregarding the constitution of Venezuela by seeking decree powers 4 times in 9 years, nationalizing small farms, persecuting political opponents and seeking endless rule.
brendonuc 1 year ago
@lapwiz i oppose anyone using nuclear weapons under any circumstances.. are you telling me I am wrong to oppose Castro wanting to use them ? (by the way, I never divulged my adamant opposition to the US bombings of Japan.. ah, in case you were hoping to discredit me with physical presence again, yes, Ive been to Hiroshima as well)
brendonuc 1 year ago
@brendonuc I too believe there's no such a thing as "responsible": use of WMDs, despite the propaganda (nowadays with the Persians) uranium enrichment quest. We can do without all nukes. It is a threat to the planet's survival. I'm not a pacifist, however.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@brendonuc.Furthermore, Why is it okay for the US to have nuclear missiles in Turkey, aimed at Russia, but it was not okay for the former USSR to place them in Cuba? If it was up to me we would do with them all.
But in any event, in the end Castro won, the US settled on the promise of never invading for the return of the ships. You don't need a PhD. to know that. However my academic background is a triple major in history/poly-sci/philosophy. I have attended several lectures and read TA. You?
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz buddy, listen.. if you took philosophy then you must have learned how to argue. You are arguing things to me, that I agree with, and never prompted with a counter argument. "why is it ok for the US to have nuclear missles..." Listen, I never said it was... Also, propping yourself with your credentials in an argument of this nature is like telling your opponent in a fight you've clearly lost that you were trained by Pei Mei. It doesn't help at all. Best to you, bye.

@brendonuc Oh well, I'm passionate, and sometimes it takes the best of me.
Have a nice new year. Cheers camarade!
lapwiz 1 year ago
@brendonuc I would urge you to look into the evidence for yourself, not second hand, specially from family members that are bias towards an upper class logic. The reality in Venezuela, as far as the repression of freedom of speech is a bold lie, and anyone can experience that for themselves by being there and watch the right wing commissars broadcast 24/7 against Chavez. He did turned down one channel's quest to renewal, then used that channell for a public channel. The right demonstrate daily.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz There are no restriction for public expression or of assembly in the streets of Caracas. I saw 3 large demonstration con-Chaves in Caracas, spoke with locals about it, debated with many, and these charges are false in every regard. Those same charges were placed on Lula in Brazil, and they turned out to be baseless.
Many a time, presidents of the US ruled bt decree, GWB is the most recent example of it. Chavez did get permission to both houses, vis-a-vis the presidential system.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz Moreover. Why would the Venezuela landscape be any different than any other country regarding media wars? We have the same issue in the US today with pundits on both sides representing their particular elite's agenda? When in the history of american imperialism, or any for that matter, have we been informed of the reality of both; reasons for military aggression, and that of the other side, in a far fashion? Never, truth is the first casualty of any war.Reasonable men is our last resort.

Your claims don't hold any water
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz Furthermore, only GWB expanded the gov and raised deficits further only to run the nation into a catastrophic meltdown with even more deregulation of the financial market.
So, Bush takes the "oscar" for the biggest spender on borrowing on future taxes than Reagan did.
You're old enough to know that, c'mon , it's not rocket science.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@TheGerryjoy
1) Reagan is rated 22nd in the record. His popularity rate was lower that JFK, LBJ IKE, Clinton and Obama.
2)He holds the record for the 2nd highest spender in the history of the republic, dwarfed only by GWB.
3)He did cut taxes in 1981, then raised them the following sis consecutive years in office.
4)To disastrous ends.
5)Not true, he appointed Greenspan to the fed. Reagan was completely clueless about economic policies.
You must believe that ketchup is a vegetable then.
lapwiz 1 year ago
@lapwiz You're giving credit where credit is not due...pointing at a puppet. You think it was Reagan who who spent all that money? Who was it thats built the 130 nation empire with 800 military bases to guard it? Was it a president?
ultraphonic1 1 year ago

@warriorprince1010
I never said it was the fault of capitalism...
I'm not a communist myself, but to be fair, that wasn't and isn't communism, its state capitalism.
Isolated communist countries will never flourish economically. BUT the idea that the brand of neo-liberal supercapitalism that we have today creates wealth for the people at large is straight up bullshit. Lies. Propaganda. The claims of trickle down economics are simply just non-existent in practice.
monkeywithsticks 1 year ago
@monkeywithsticks State capitalism has a market price. Communism has a government set price. Communism is worse. Capitalism does create wealth, sadly governments do not allow everyone access to the wealth.
warriorprince1010 1 year ago
@warriorprince1010
BIG BUSINESS ARE SUCKING THE WEALTH OUT OF THE POPULATION, is there anything easier to understand.
monkeywithsticks 1 year ago
@monkeywithsticks That is communism. Capitalism is people owning things, you cannot actually have state capitalism, they can play in the markets but they are socialist as the government has the money. When politicians say socialism and communism they mean government ownership and wealth for the government.
warriorprince1010 1 year ago
@warriorprince1010
Have you considered that the current model is what fucked us over?
monkeywithsticks 1 year ago

@monkeywithsticks "Have you ever considered that the money has become more and more concentrated in a few individuals"...I am guessing you are meaning communism, where the government has all the money and power and people have nothing.
