step one: get a friend who's nickname happens to be something similar to "human wikipedia" or "mr. know it all" that person that someone knows everything

step two: instead of playing games or whatever, just practice and use the words in conversations, it's better to use words that you would use in normal conversations instead of just random words you will never use.

The tip is inaccurate. The number of words you read depends on how quickly you can read, take in information, and understand written text. For me, a 300+ page book takes me between 4-5 hours to complete, while some people may find that they could only read 10 pages in an hour. Sometimes, if the book is really good, you can imagine what is going on in the scene or play out the spoken dialogue in your head. This can hinder the speed of reading as well. So can your environment or conscience.
