My parents have a 2010 Forester, it's an awesome vehicle! Great ground clearance for offroading. Great on the snow, and mud. I also just bought a 2011 WRX and I love it! I'll be buying Subarus the rest of my life.
yes people are going to off road with the forester.... subaru has a cult following for that. Anyone that hates on this car just wishes their car could do the same. this is the way it breaks down..Just want to take the kiddies to soccer practice buy the toyota/honda. Want to do the above plus drive through a ft of mud and snow ...Forester..When the shit hits the fan on the road, put me in a subaru
Plus he was saying the automatic is so much better for uphill climbs, the auto is a 4 speed with longer gears than the 5 speed, its harder to push first gear up a hill if its a longer gear.
he is saying that the auto drivetrain with the VDC is better for hillclimbs, which it is
not only do you get the VDC which would keep traction, you also get an auto transmission which for the type of people that would be driving this and the places they would go, an alot better option than a manual
sure maybe a manual with a granny low might be nice for an experienced rock crawler but we are talking about a subaru, it would be easier to keep traction with an auto, no clutch, no driver error
That guy is wrong at 2:30, he is saying how its nice that the VDC kicks in when you are on two wheels. VDC is a type of stability control that helps to lower understeer / oversteer at _higher_ speeds in cornering. What he should be talking about is active AWD or active torque distribution that doesn't dump all the torque out on the wheel thats in the air like most "4x4" open differential vehicles. When he said he doesn't usually offroad, well he was right. haha.
Is anyone ever going to do this to a Forester? The furthest offroad they go is if they climb a curb at the local walmart.
It's bigger, ,it's higher and no one drives that way on the way to work. In Japan there was a Forester Sti that was lower and handled better and that's what I want.
As an 09 Forester owner, I can tell you that I would never go to Wal-Mart. ;-)
Plus, I've gotten through relatively thick mud in the forests of Northern Pennsylvania. I thought my brother-in-law was going to have to winch me out, but I made it through.
For visibility test, every suv comes out with rear back up camera, so, it is totally useless. The 2009 suabru forester only has 4 speed automatic transmission, when the other competitors are having 5 or six speed transmission. It is totally useless. However, I wish subaru had at least 5speed automatic or manual, becuase I love the interior and exteior design, and plus it has good value.
I see what you're saying, but take into consideration the forester rear seats were upright. The other vehicles would have had to fold the seats down to fit it if they turned it 90 deg.
afther seeing this makes me wanna trade in my 04 RS for the new or old Forester. I'm still dreaming of getting any STi don't matter if it's a Hatch. I love that boxer STi sound in the background on the video.
Hahahahaha a Honda!!!

VDC uses braking and throttle/engine management to keep traction
if there is a loss of traction VDC either uses the brakes or cuts a small amount of power to stop the wheels from spinning
This system is also combined with the VTD system, an active AWD system that splits power between front and rear
when this guy says that VDC kicks in when you are on two wheels he is right

Grief, I love car salesmen. I thought a few of them were trying to sell the car to the camera man.

LOL they made the box exactly to fit the Subaru. All they had to do was turn the box 90° and it would fit the others.
