  • Thumbs up if you think that the singer is born in the USA

  • why everytime they talk about vietnam.they talk about the danm war.even the vietnamese dont want to talk about it why would somebody else want to bring it up?

  • Vietnam war was for golden triangle opium, the same as they are now in afghanistan. Don't be fooled it was for fighting communism.

  • this song is a very subtle criticism on the war. just listen.

  • @ebay4dave I'm sure most everybody in existence would criticize this war looking back at it now. But I don't think Bruce was criticizing it, just stating the sad realities. Because it doesn't really matter what we think, the shit went down and there's no second chance, just live and learn.

  • @binka21 no they have saw the destruction they did to other people, and asked themselves what fucking evil powers they served. And turned anti home country. Returning vets are feared by the goverment.

  • Here's a really good example of a song that gets used by both sides .At the time everybody knew this was a honest to god anti war song , no question about it . 20 or so years later when war and patriotism became popular again , all that's needed to rally the people around your cause is a good a patriotic song of course , cause there ain't nothin more patriotic than BORN IN THE USA, now is there. Wake up people.

  • So you are aware that the message is one that is anti war and anti Vietnam War, yet you put these images with it anyway? I am struggling to find even a hint of knowledge in you're reasoning

  • @Shonkoi i agree, its kinda weird right?

  • i get a little choked up when i hear this song because i finaly understand the message

  • These generals are all terrorists!!! Why do you praise people who are killing women and children?

Gunner and legend? What poor fellow did he "gun down"?

@Uploader: "I am awareof the message Bruce Springsteen..." so you are aware and still you choose to make a video which completely goes against what Springsteen says in the song?

  • Lieutenant General Sir David Richards RA, Commander ISAF Afghanistan, at 0:13 flanked by US Generals. PARA, Commando, Gunner and legend!

  • I am unaware* of the message Bruce Springsteen is really giving in the song. Fixed***

  • This video makes me proud I'm not born in the USA!!! But the song is awsome!!

  • I love My Fucking Country..!!

  • Regardless of what? It makes me sick when patriotism is used as an excuse for every illegal thing the US has done in various wars... You can like / support your country without justifying torture, innocent killings and crimes against humanity.

  • I can't believe a rock band would prompt racial hatred and war like this, Such a shame. The irony is that look back what the US got from the vet war or Korean war, what did you get? Americans! Did you win any of those? You just have to whack off and pull back those war dogs to the cage and fool American people like that!

  • @xiaochennick You didn't really understand the song now did you? It's about the problem with patriotism. How governments use it manipulate.

  • @peachbass

Ok, your words just surprised me, I don't know, perhaps you know more than me, but ..uhh. Well, after all, I just hope music won't be a used by politicians or racists to prompt hatred.

  • THIS IS NOT A PATRIOTIC SONG!

  • your all idiots

  • Anyone know where this guy was born? Cant figure it out

  • 621 people are just realy odd???

  • he tebowed

  • how stupid and futille war... sheer waste of money and human lives for no reason, i admire french they backdown from vietnam, they don't need loosing another war

  • Comment removed

  • How can u dis like this song!!! it reminds me alot of the election coming up!!!!

  • Ron Paul 2012!

  • awww yea roody-poos

  • We NEED presidents like Regan, FDR, and Kennedy They were the best. Obama isn't/wasn't bad but he dosent even come close to these guys. Look at FDR he fought a war on two frons and still pulled america out of a depression.

  • @PetarVN agreed on all except Regan.. he tuck his part in destroying us (commies)

  • @PetarVN FDR and Kennedy I can agree with but Reagen was meh

  • @PetarVN FDR and Regan were like the opposites of each other

  • "The perfect liberty they seek is the liberty of making slaves of other people." Mr. Lincoln was talking about the left and people like you Quatmann!!!!

  • I'm still wanting Mr williamquatman to tell us all why we fought the Vietnam war.

  • to viperabyss I am appreciative of our military and vets! and so was Reagan! What should we have done, let Russia come over here and set up shop? You need to read Karl Marx and how he predicted capitalism would fall. Remember though, a communist reads Karl Marx and Lenin, but a anti communist understands Marx and Lenin. Unions are a player. I'm not anti union either, but some unions are turning their back on the members and are getting into bed with politics and just power hungry.

  • viperabyss - Welfare? They come over here to get away from a tyrant king and nobody had any welfare? It needs to be cut out today, and if everyone was a Christian, the churches and families could take care of everybody. No, instead we can just vote people in who will pass laws to take from the public fund and give to those who are "less fortunate". Single women having babies they don't even know who the father is, so they can take more money from people who work.

  • Free. Like it or not.

  • Tell me then why we were in Vietnam williamquatman

  • Reagan was much like our founders. He knew the danger of a big and powerful government. The true conservative wants a gov't just big enough to keep him free. We are in no means fascists, but capitalists which williamquatman seems to despise along with the rest of the world. He seems to despise the rich by his statement, but has anyone ever seen a poor man offer anyone a job? I'm not one of the rich but I believe the majority of the wealth in a nation should belong to the people, not the gov't.

  • @patriot6404 I wasn't aware that the founders of this great country tripled our national debt by engaging in an arms race with the Russian, while at the same time reducing social welfare programs to those needed, including the veterans, at the same time reducing the power of the union, which at the time helped workers obtained necessary compensations.

  • williamquatman FDR was a progressive and apointed I believe it was 8 liberal Supreme court justices that began our walk away from what the Bible teaches. The New Deal insituted the federal government into our lives in many ways and began the growth of what it has become today. We were a well respected and feared country when Reagan was our president around the world , morale was high in the military. If you remember williamquatman he raised the pay for the military and enlistment increased .

  • @patriot6404 News flash for you. US Constitution was not written on Christian laws; it never was, never is, and (hopefully) never will. The original founders of this country were mostly pagans, as well as Christians who escaped the religious oppression by the Catholics church. You'd think they'd be wise enough to write laws that would give citizens the freedom to religion (read: free from ANY religion), don't you?

  • @patriot6404 what kind did Reagan,H W Bush and W Bush apoint?

  • @patriot6404

And King George The Imbecile (George W Bush) appointed a corrupt theocrat (Scalia) and a neo-conservative hack who is in the pockets of business and industry (Roberts) to the supreme court.

Now the US has had idiotic rulings like Citizens United which literally make it possible for a president to be in the service of a few wealthy backers like the Koch brothers who simply keep writing checks to their Super-Pacs.

  • “Fascism, which was not afraid to call itself reactionary…does not hesitate to call itself illiberal and anti-liberal.”

    Benito Mussolini

"The perfect liberty they seek is the liberty of making slaves of other people." -- Abraham Lincoln

  • Reagan began deregulation so that the redistribution of wealth from the working class to the top 1% could follow. I served to keep the U.S. free for even the like of clueless non-patriot6404. However, serving with Central American troops I saw Reagan shift our emphasis from pro-democracy and pro-human rights to support for brutal dictators. I saw it first hand. I don't support communism and I sure don't support the right's plutocratic fascism.

  • patriot6404, you haven't a clue what communism is any more than you have a clue why we in Vietnam or what Reagan did. He began the "Reagan Revolution" which enabled the undoing of FDR's "New Deal" which was always despised by the Robber Barons of the 1920s. Reagan also made villainizing real patriotic Americans OK. I was serving in the U.S. Army Special Forces (unlike idiots like you) when Reagan called me and other environmentalists the number one enemy of the U.S..

  • williamquatman , What did Reagan do that you despise? He believed in small limited government and that man could govern himself. He believed in freedom, freedom for a man to do with his earnings what he wanted. But socialists like you don't like that do you, you want the government to put a gun to my head and take what I worked for and give it to you. That is why we fought the Vietnam war, to stop the spread of communism. To stop us from being overtaken by people like you!

  • @patriot6404

South Vietnamese President Diem was just as bad as Ho Chi Minh if not more so.

Diem was an autocratic dictator who practiced extreme nepotism through government appointments (making his illiterate wife secretary of education, or making his brother foreign minister) and staged phony elections (which he always won by ridiculous margins,he persecuted the Buddhist population (he was a Catholic convert), he forcibly conscripted men and women into his army,

  • 0:53 - 0:57 is he holding an m60? if not wtf is that?

  • I'm aware of the words and message of the song. I am a veteran and love my country. I also like and agree with this song. Oh, since someone mentioned Reagan, I'd like to quote him "Facts are stupid things." I love the U.S.A. and thus despise Reagan and what he did to it.

  • @williamquatman ....what did Reagan do to the USA that makes you hate him so?

  • lol, does anyone listen to the lyrics outside of the chorus?

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • dragostea dintei

  • porn in the usa!!!!!

  • Reagan thought this song was PRO the war !

  • Thank God For USA!!!

  • @cougarusa1

Yeah, because who else would amuse us all these years?

  • Ron Paul

  • The Weird Al version "Porn in the USA" is by far superior. By far.

  • @Rosvolainen Nope.

  • @xxMrFablexx Have you even seen it? OF COURSE YOU HAVEN'T BECAUSE I MADE IT UP! BURN! SICK BURN!

  • @Rosvolainen lol

  • @Rosvolainen haha the funnest part there actually is a "Porn in the USA" and DOONT ask me how I know

  • I was born in Denmark. But when i have finished my education, i will try to get at greencard. And then i will start at career and a life in the United States.

  • Awesome song...all the butthurt political arguing is lame....play nice and enjoy one of america's finest exports....its gotten even better with age

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • Americans should stop blindly supporting vets. Sure, most of them are great, heroic people. However, many are war criminals deserving of nothing less than a formal execution. American actions in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan attest to that. Look up Tiger Force.

  • @bigturtlehand you wouldn't be here if it were not for these men and women,of course some of the military do bad things against people but that has happened since the beginning of time unfortunately, don't bad mouth vets especially vietnam vets most were drafted and didn't want to fight.

  • born in antartica yeah

  • GOD BLESS SEALAND

  • You're a fucking idiot, matt5581.

  • @SteeelReserve what for??? For being sane patriotism is not loving your government but your country. Im a yugoslav communist and I dont hate america nor the american people, for I know that as every country america has intellectuals and normal people as well as idiots and morons. But I DO hate american government.

And by the way is Bruce a communist?!? Pleas answer me this

  • SERBIAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i cant remember where i saw it but along time ago they set this song to the things america was great for i saw soldiers going to work mom and pop grocery stores and a beautiful 88 Trans AM standing a wheelie down a quarter mile man i wish we could live again in our America...

  • I was born in east L.A!

  • To hell with Denmark.

  • Ok Im going to look like an idiot to some but

    IS BRUCE A COMMUNIST

I am and I just wanted to know. I know he love US but unlike SOME Americans hes normal

  • Melissa Etherige called Springsteen Shakespeare set to music. Clarence was on par with Charlie Parker and John Coltrane with the tenor sax. Bruce is a little too far left on his politics concerning foreign policy. I with hin on workers rights and everything domestic, but there was a relationship between Vietnam and the fall of the Soviet Union. And, there is a relationship between Iraq and the revolutions in Tunisa, Libya, Egypt, and soon Syria. There are forces out there and we have to mee

  • @JayGatsbyOdysseus You're right, but you're taking the rrreeeealllly long ball view of history. So did Ike though. He said if Germany were a democracy in 50 years, we did our job. I've always thought Iraq would be successful in the long term, but in the short term it almost crippled us. Afghan? Not so sure. Vietnam? I can see why we were there, but we fought it all wrong. Should have crushed the North, and fought to win. Same with Korea. You can't go half ass in these things.

  • i agree support the USA

  • @SuperCougar71 no. Wiltshire, England.

  • i dont think that is what is meant by the song. it is a about pointless waste of life

  • No person is born wanting to go to war but to protect those that you love to protect what you believe in and to keep what you have. Sometimes we have to do what we don't want to Bruce did it in Music others in protest and others with the ultimate sacrifice. There is no right way or wrong way, The only thing is Never Ever go down without a fight for what YOU believe in!!!

  • Is 0:19 really in America?

  • @Voodoozeko

ya its in one of those preserved colonial towns

  • GOD BLESS DENMARK!

  • @cola7016 You just don't understandl

  • @cola7016 WDF? Dude the song is Born in the USA Not in Kopenhagen!

  • the 610 people who disliked, go to hell. USA!!!

  • @KFCMaster69 son, that is why we fought and will fight so that everyone has free speech. I may not liket what everyone has to say, but as long as they live in this country, I did and will fight for that freedom of speeech! God bless America and long may she live in. I Love Her so.....I am sixty years old, a Vietnam vet and I would still fight for this great countryl..

  • thankyou to all the vets.....this day is for u!!!

  • GOD BLESS THE U.S.A. AND OUR VETS OF WORLD WAR I,AND II AND VIETNAM

  • God bless the world, so we won't have no more fucking WARS, man! that's what you've got to say! No more children, young and elderly people dead for the motherfucking politicians! Politicians start up the fucking war and put the poor to fight in the battle fields. No more war, man, as long as politicians fighting off the shit they've just started!

  • yea, the vietnam war was the most pointless war i have ever heard off. 1. vietnam is thousands of miles off so y should we care? 2, they don't even have advanced weapons, forget about MWD 3. vietnam is in JUNGLES, and we have never fought an all out jungle warfare before, so obivously we have the downside. anyways, communist vietnam isn't doing all that badly. no protest, the people are peaceful. i don't get what johnson was smoking when he ordered congress to fight the viets.

  • My dad served two voluntary tours in Viet Nam from '66-'69. This song reminds me very much of him and often brings tears to my eyes. RIP Dad.

  • The song is about how this country mistreats it's vets. Especially the Viet Nam vets, of which my old man is one. I did my time as a medic in Iraq in 2005.

  • A True Patriot would uphold the US Constitution no matter what. You're are all living in a Twilight Zone episode right now if you think this is America. I love the Boss, wish I could go back in time and never leave that time period "60's - 80's" it was the best!

  • i dont get why he went to other countries and sang this?! like he went to France and sang it and the French people were waving American flag! i dont get that?!

  • This song is the total opposite of american pride

  • Screw haters. Greetings to USA from Macedonia

  • people are writing ''god bless America'' when bruce mean ''what the fuck america''

  • @springsteen1337 I know, right. -_-

  • io non amo la politica da guerrafondisti dell'America ma gli americani sono grandi!!!

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

    GREAT SONG AND VIDEO

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • goodbye america..brainwashed nation

  • @barthoedemaker ...bite me.

  • Isn't this world in enough turmoil and fighting, that bashing a song really makes someone feel better. I lost a friend in Viet Nam, and I have a son in Afganistan. I have thought that no matter what pain we suffer, we have the capability to make where we live...a better place. This is only my opinion, but if you don't like living in the United States of America...get out.

  • god bless america.........the land of the free and the home of the brave!!

  • Its possible to be both proud to be born in the USA and of your blue collar roots, AND at the same time be against war and things like Vietnam. That's what this song is all about.

Patriotism is not blindly loving everything your country does or what your government tells you. Rather it is loving your country enough to want it to better itself, and requires speaking out when you perceive it going astray.

  • @AleSwigger

    Jolly well said.

  • @AleSwigger Patriotism - Loving your country because of what it does. Nationalism - Loving your country inspite of what it does

  • Comment removed

  • Some show their love for the land by stopping and asking "Why?" Others show support for a war by sending their sons off to die. AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US GROWS here in AMERICA ... great post btw.

  • @AleSwigger

very well said ..........love from India

  • @AleSwigger i thought it was about been born in the usa! he he he

  • Why do you say america when it is USA? Do you think the whole america is yours? Well, it is better think that than think the world is yours as some usa people do.

    Sorry for my bad English

  • @jordiaspo

True, we the people of the USA tend to use America as our nationality, but that's because it's been repeatedly used in culture and even politics, so we just keep saying "America". America is in our name ( United States of America), and so it is used. Whenever I hear people talking about Americans or stupid Americans, they are usually talking about the USA, not Canada or any country in the Central or South Americas.

~You English was only wrong because you didn't include "of" or "to"

  • @lmucci1097 jeha That big man gave his people all for free , but they are retarded and killed him.Now we will see what happens with them when USA take all oil and they have to by water from pussy franch

  • Odd listening and watching these days...

  • I love america and this song but I know this song is against america! but better america than africa or russia or ukraine or pakistan

  • i really don t love usa, they just want to take all oil but this is my fav song xD

  • @Lomprouser Hey, Ghaddafi is dead, its all gonna be better here in the U.S.

  • I was not born here but my two daughters were. I am the Old World and they are the New World. We fly the flag on Sundays, 4th of July, 7th of Dec., 11th of Sept. and so on, according to our calendar. We drive in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and speak English at home even though we know another language. We are Americans!

  • @Werderaner1990

    I don't think so.America is beautiful. but I don't life there.When I have chance I wouldn't wait.I love America really.

    And I love this Song.

America is the fucking best country of all.

Sorry for my bad english but I'm not an american

    Greatings from Germany ;)

  • Born In The U.S.A. was the first CD manufactured in the United States for commercial release. It was pressed when CBS Records opened its CD manufacturing plant in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1984. Discs previously had been imported from Japan.

This song was recorded live in the studio in 3 takes.

  • This is one of the most misinterpreted songs ever. Most people thought it was a patriotic song about American pride, when it actually cast a shameful eye on how America treated its Vietnam veterans. Springsteen considers it one of his best songs, but it bothers him that it is so widely misinterpreted. With the rollicking rhythm, enthusiastic chorus, and patriotic album cover, it is easy to think this has more to do with American pride than Vietnam shame.

  • @TheKimberBenton

    you think it's about vets?

LOL, American people have a big problems with interpreting simple words...

Is it so hard to understand that this is one of the most ANTI-WAR songs I've ever heard?

Well, good advice for all the Americans: less watching tv, more reading books, this immunize you to the process which rest of the world calls: propaganda.

  • @vranix Whatever jackass....

  • USA is a country full of shit

  • @Werderaner1990 fuck off cunt

  • @Werderaner1990

Maybe even put your picture on Tee Shirts and the National Debt The interest is a killer..in it's self... going to the National Debt...

  • ya but he is showing that america is not afriad to get in and kick some fucking ass like we always do. Good job buddy!

  • Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.

    Albert Einstein

  • Úristen, mekkora volt Budapesten a Népstadoinban-még a rendszerváltás előtt-,amikor ez a dal felcsendül személyesen Bruce Springsteentől!Aki nem volt ott sose tudhatja meg!

  • the flaws are with the government, and not the people. our people are awesome. we flaunt our constitution worldwide like it's the shroud of turin, but our leaders piss on it daily. stop this. #occupywallstreet.

  • @adiceman7 occupy your mind..

  • USA must be the most patriotic country ever, slow down a bit.

  • @duddu1111 the song is itself isn't patriotic...the uploader obviously doesn't know the lyrics

  • @sirklondike303 Oh, I know. Im talking about all the patriotic comment who have absolutely no sense in this American "irony" song.

  • I'm a volunteer for America 1969 & my Dad in 1950 & my Son in 2010. Sons of Erin we are. Back to the war of northern aggression me fore fathers have served this country.

  • Comment removed

  • Why do so many people think this is a patriotic song? Ask a Vietnam Vet what this song means. You'll find out what it means. Bruce speaks nothing but the truth in the song. Such powerful lyrics...but it's got nothing to do with chest-thumping patriotism.

  • @firstmusic00 it is isn't it, they called the allies "baby" killers for taking orders

  • At 0:18 I'm pretty sure that an English village/town. In fact I'm certain lol.

  • @covertoperationDJ Looks like Castle Combe in Wiltshire to me! where i live!

  • Thank you so much Bruce

  • ive been missing the point of this song for 25 years, and i get chills every time i do it.

  • Comment removed

  • I think your missing the point of the song. It's an ironic statement not a nationalistic one.
