I just saw the Cleftones last night (my friend produced the show) and they perform PERFECT! What a performance! We could have listened to them all night long. If you ever get a chance to see them live rest assured you wont be disappointed.
These were the gentlemen who set the foundation for music today. But unfortunately the music today consist of offensive and derogatory lyrics, gansta rap etc. It is nice to hear just old fashion harmony about a boy and girl and one being in love. Gentlemen you are in class of your own, truley one of a kind. If music be the fruit of love, then play on !!!
Those are the original leads of both The Penguins and Cleftones, and they sound just as good as they did 50+ years ago.Amazing talents, great music, thank you so much for posting.
Musicians of this era have a class, elegance and talent about them that unfortunately, in today's society, will not be as popular as the noise that is called music today. These men are classy in their dress, they give a moving performance and unlike today, created true music with their true talent. Music back then made you feel good. The noise now makes most people feel depressed and hateful. May God bless the talented and uncomparable groups of the 50's! :)
Earth Angel...This is the oldest of the "Golden Oldies"... I mean... if someone says "The Golden Oldies"... this is the one you think of first, isn't it...???
@crusher1944 Sadly, how right you are. Hopefully, "our" guy's can stay around for at least another 20. As one can see, the greatest sound to one's ear only get's better.
I remember dancing to this with my Johnny at the basement parties we use to have, this and "In the Still of The Night" are the two top hits of the era.......keep those oldies alive.......In Harmony, Doowoplvr
brings back memoies of STREET DANCES in the 50's................what a great time!

The greatest doo-wop song when it was released
in 1954 and still on top 55 years later, now the
question is, who is still in the group. Sure sound like Cleve Duncan singing lead.

I think the Cleftones sound better in this 1999 redux than they did in 1959 !!!
