This style of "dinner club" music is still around in the Senior Citizens areas in Florida, as well as Atlantic City, Branson MO and Biloxi MS. Peter made the rounds of the talk shows in the mid-'70s, but his career was tied to those cheesy mail order ads for his albums and he faded quickly. His cousin (or was it his brother?) Mark was a pitcher with the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays right around that same time frame.
Rightly or wrongly, this fellow suffered the taint of being a mafia product. He performed at my school and made a point to make himself available after the show for anyone who wanted to stop by. That's got to count for something.
ten years too late. And should have worn a tux . Funny today his style is coming back . Maybe ahead of his time also? He should have done more swing I think and taken over the Steve Lawrence torch .. can anyone say Michael Buble??? Or Connick.?
@glenlo1 Not really sure if it's similar to Buble. Buble is pretty much a Sinatra impersonator, and Connick started out like one also until he started using a "New Orleans" approach to his music, and even had a more modern pop album in the '90s which had drum machines and a New Orleans style horn arrangement.
I can't believe I found this on Google. I ordered this record in '76 and had a major crush on him! I was 15 and am 47 now and what memories. What a handsome man....wow! and that song...do I love you....oh yeahhhhhh lol
A great male vocalist, should have had a much bigger career. He has the looks, the charm and certainly the voice. A am proud to own all of his recordings.
Peter Lemongello! We just went to see him in NYC at Feinsteins Supper Club on August 15,2009.He sounded fantastic, looked great and was SO funny.A true New Yorker. He was a friend of my fathers and always wanted to meet him.LOVE 76 FOREVER!!!!
Not his usual band or music, but a nice variation... and Peter pulls it off, as he always did, like a champ! Personally, couldn't keep my eyes off those lace up pants! Freakin' HOT!
