  • I was thinking about getting a brass body resonator and went looking for youtube vids showing BBR's...and found Bob..then forgot why I was watching...then went back a week later for more Bob. I've played AT making music all my adult life, and to hear someone else clearly and plainly justify my style of improvisational play is just awesome. Bob is truly a master, of stage, mind and music. I only wish I'd discovered him sooner in life. Bravo!

As Arthur Dent would say. Thank the almighty Bob!

  • This video is totally awesome! Thank you for the sharing.

  • Just wanted to thank you for this great synopsis on music. I first saw it a few years ago and fiind myself watching it again and again over the years...it really helps remind me of what's important about living life as a musician. Thanks again. God bless

  • His points are all DEAD ON!

  • Quelle belle leçon, et philosophie de vie! Merci Bob! You're such a mentor for millions of us. Continue, please continue to educate us.

  • It's like your feelings are a language nobody else speaks and you're alone, mute and the only translator that you have is this. (the guitar) I saw Bob perform a few years back and I felt so alive and inspired after his show that it had a profound effect on my playing. Bob is in a league of his own when it comes to thinking and expressing his hard learned observations about music and people. He is one in a handful of musicians capable of full and honest expression.

  • If everyone picked up one of his albums we we could turn him into the Godzilla/King Kong needed to smash the PopTard music!

  • Very inspiring... but when I listen to the Black Crowes I don't think Rock and roll died in 1972...

  • I am ashamed to say I never heard of him. He's brilliant !!!! Thanks for introducing me to him.

  • He´s the man... nothing more to add

  • Very inspiring. Few things I disagree are the labeling of some music to "make people stupid". I'd call it "simple music", doesn't mean its bad or dumb. Also the "rock n roll died in 1972" thing. I get tired of older folks making it sound like all new commercial music is automatically crap. Finally, the "music comes from the top down", which is still mostly true, but internet and social media are opening lots of doors for music from the artists again, not just from industry.

  • @brunodmtl To clarify, I was talking about the lowest common denominators of pop music, which is NOT the same thing as SIMPLE music!!

Much of the best music in the world is SIMPLE. But Britney music is just stupid, and made ONLY for making money, not for advancing any art form particularly IMHO

As to the rock died comment, I agree that in ANY era, and in ANY genre, there will always be SOME good music. I was talking more about the way music is marketed. And I agree 100% about youtube +net

  • come to mexico

  • Simply brilliant, every musician can learn a lot from this amazing man, i certainly did :)

  • Excellent.

  • To agree or disagree with his politics as he said is up to you. He is just trying to get people to open their minds and not all be slaves to what we see and hear mostly on the box. As for his comments on music he is spot on. You only have to watch him play and it's amazing. I'm hard pressed to hear him repeat two notes at times. Listen to music today, it's all repetition. He says he is not a good musician, on that I totally agree. He is more!

  • This is one of the greatest musical commentaries I have ever heard. Thank you for your insight.

  • love the playing, although all of creation praises their maker. I can only imagine the Bob B's, the Jimi H's, the stevie ray's, who would glorify God with their music.

  • To me Bob brozman is our times Roy Smeck .He can play any stringed instument he wants to.Hes is one of the very few who can drive the National guitars to it full potensial.Bob is a very good friend of music.

  • 17:37 to 18:05 Hoyl Shit!!!!

  • I was lucky to attend his masterclass and concert last night in Spalding.

I never gave rhythm a thought but he has got more RHYTHM than rhythm itself and he has changed my out look as a musician any body can learn a a guitar by tab but it takes a real musician to understand RHYTHM.

Thankyou Bob for opening up my eyes:)

  • Saw him in Leeds last night, best gig ever! Superb!

  • 19:20 sounds like smoke on the water.

  • Every time I see Brozman I expect him to have transcended language and begun to respond with guitar sounds and have us totally understand him.

I always love to see a real human still exploring the universe and rejecting the pop-techno but-bile river that is the slop trough of "culture"!

  • I learnt some valuable things watching this. Thankyou.

  • For those people who don't understand why there is talking in this video: It is simple--it is an interview. He is answering questions being asked of him.

Plenty of music-only clips of Bob on youtube

  • Great thinker, great blues player. What a beautiful coincidence...

  • I agree and have possibly changed my way of thinking with some things he has said, but I also disagree with some things he's said.

  • Art has a liberal, leftist bias. Thanks, Bob.

  • Why.........????

Cause he is one man band...

  • ok . this is mind blowing . he blows my mind . ha . why dont he want no band to back him????

  • Well I hope I don't need to become a Leftist to "get it" musicly speaking. But I do really enjoy your "Radical" views on music.A musician should always speak from the heart.I can stand the politics that's in you as long as you keep sharing the music that's in you ;)

  • You remember the wall with Clapton is god grafiti?!?

forget it... BOB BROZMAN IS GOD!

  • "Nobody ever buys a book and says "what a great alphabet!""!!!!! Good quote. He seems to have a very lefty way to look at things and I do not agree with a lot of things that he says, especially when it comes to his "pre-rehearsed" speech about how modern music is the same. But he has a few interesting things to bring to the table. Insightful interview

  • We can tell you it is not "pre-rehearsed" or even rehearsed....he is just used to tryng to express himself clearly.

Still, agree/disagree is a good thing... to stimulate discussion of any kind!

  • ..Bob, a big giant weight has just been ripped off of my shoulders while watching this!!!

I really think I might be able to find my roots again...

    Thank you!!!!

  • JUBE WASSUP? Love this video. Stupid stupid stupid stupid

  • Thank you Bob for your trip to Trnava for DobroFest ! (Dopyera father and brothers, creators of DOBRO and NATIONAL guitars came to U.S. from Slovakia.)

  • this is the best video on youtube, bob is a true inspiration to musicians everywhere

  • yes.

  • unreal

  • By checking the date gap between the comments you clearly see that other fellow you tubers are more interested in watching STUPID things...

to me this video is more than a music video or interview...if you konw what I mean!

  • WHAT PLANET IS HE FROM?

  • This has got to be one of the most valuable videos on youtube. Thanks for the lesson, can't wait to see you play.

  • Bob is the living Good...

  • wat chords do u use fore begginer blues???

  • You changed my life for the better Bob. Thank you!

  • (Nobody reads a book and says what a great allphabet)what a legend you are bob!!!

  • anyone know more about the intro music which sounds very interesting

  • Bob you are a true inspiration (that word again!!)

    thank you :)

  • Wow... I have a new view on music/life after watching this...

  • Listen at about 19.20 - he plays Smoke On The Water! And I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a little joke he just slipped in there. Great bloke and very thought provoking. I'll be watching this again a few times.

  • Haha, that's awesome. Also note that it was released in 1972. The year rock & roll became rock.

  • Whats the name of the instrument he plays around 19 min

  • It's called a Chaturangui; it's a type of Hindustani slide guitar.

  • I had the luck(chance) to drink a biere with you M.Brozman in 1996 in Dismisses in France!! Bitter that, small concert deprived with 30 persons in a bar. It is an unforgettable memory!! Your kindness (thank you for photos), the wealth of your music and the emotion that manage at you to make pass are big. I espere to see again you "tres bientot" in France!!

  • That was the most inspiring 23 minutes I have had in a very long time. Some real "A-ha!" moments. Way cool! Mr. Brozman has a new fan.

  • Verdades como puños, un personaje con la cabeza muy bien amueblada, estos son los genios del siglo XXI

  • He's an amazingly inspiring person.

  • The comment below is SPOT ON!

  • Bob deserves a greater audience...great stuff

  • That was AWESOME! Very well put and relevant, considering today's climate in the so-called "popular music" world. It's all about corporate greed and slick marketing the music business brainwashes the masses with....most music lovers are nothing more than sheep, willing to follow the flock.....Thanks again.

  • Bob, i'd like to be your friend...

  • I wish the interviewer had asked him what he thought of Ted Nugent.

  • Thanks, everyone, for posting this guy's videos. Bob Brozman has just made a new fan.

  • my favourite person outside of my family in the world.........i love him.

  • You are an inspiration to any one and every one that likes anything good in this life! People may talk or scream or act to express there true self or what they feel, you do that with your "sound"! Hope you continue to inspire people around the wold for many years to come! ;)

  • I like your thoughts and philosophy about music. I still feel ashamed of being a German sometimes, but don´t we all take part in destroying the whole planetthese days?

  • I'm Jewish, and I say don't worry about it dude.

Just try not to destroy the planet

  • You shouldn't be ashame of being German!! we're all humans an equal.. We can't be jugded by the place on the earth we're born..

  • this man is brilliant. so captivating, makes me wanna learn alot more music theory.

  • Thanks for speaking the truth. I'm glad I found you. I'll be eating all the food you've put on my table, and in doing so put a little back on yours. 5 stars.

  • A man who knows what he's talking about, it seems. We need more musicians like Bob Brozman.

  • He is fascinating. I'd love to hear a collaborative project between Bob & Fred Frith.

  • We need an army of musicians like Bob Brozman!

  • amazing, definitely learned a lot here

  • This guy plays fairly well and speaks like a philosopher.

  • brains and guitar! what a rarity.

  • Groovy old hippie! I likes. Good music, great thoughts. Keep on rockin'!

  • not only is his playing awesome, his knowledge of world music is jawdropping.

  • Hi Bob hows tricks? Glad i finally found some of your stuff on youtube. I saw you at the Band on the Wall in Manchester, a long time ago, I am a friend of Bill (the guitar man),Just wanted to say WOW!! and thanks for the memory!!

    Pete Scott

  • harika bi adam gerçekten

  • We were honored to have him perform at the Unvarnished Music Festival. Great performer & musician and even better human being. He is about four time zones ahead of the rest of the world.

  • Hey Bob , How about playing in chicago

  • I saw on his website he will be in Champagne-Urbana Sept. 13 and 14 at the Krannert center, Not too far from Chicago

  • This guy is a thrue force of Nature.

  • Excellent work, and inspirational. So much said that needs to be said, and said well at that.

    Thank you Bob!

  • What an awesome video. I've been watching this video at least once every other day to remind me of why I really love and write music. Thanks Bob.

  • keep going bob

  • He has some very good points, I like how he said that western music is boring but when he played the lap guitar he threw in smoke on the water.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Brozman, briefly. I worked at the World Music Network, when the collaborative albums between Bob and Takashi Hirayasu were released. They both came and played a Japanese festival at The Barbican, London and I can safely say aftre seeing that show - and also this footage, Bob is one of the most amazing musicians and people I have ever seen or heard.

  • he makes so many good points.

  • Thankyou Bob!

  • Wheres your harp player Bob?

  • You are an inspiration, I have not come close... yet. I would be honerd if you would consider my video response. I love to play, it makes me feel good and listening to you dose the same.

  • Great film!! Thanks for being such an inspiration Bob!!!

  • Bob is amazing, both as a person and as a musician. I can only dream of being able to interpret music at such an amazing level! A true inspiration, genius personified!

  • wow that realy Rocks

  • Bob!

    smart, kool & yes, inspirational.

Thank you Bob. Words, bricks that they are, fail to cover the joy you embody and bring! I think I'll bo pick up my cobwebby uke &/or fiddle. Will report back.

On joue à donf, Brother Bob!

  • wow. That made my day. It's suprising how rare it is these days to hear someone speak so candidly about their art.

  • Bravo pour cette vidéo

    patricia

  • Thank you so much for this!

I love it because he plays sounds Ive never heard before.

    Thank you!

  • I was at this concert: very good souvenir from Toulouse (south of France). Bob is incredible, he makes you laugh, thrill, think, and before all, he makes you feel the Music. If you have the oppurtunity to see him live, RUN to the concert!

  • Hah' I am acually seeing him next month at a very small pub, I cannot wait to meet this incredible musician.

  • Man! Musically, the best thing about these 3 most recent youtube Brozman vids is that they have the Hindustanified guitar. There are no recordings of him with this yet, not even the Live in Germany dvd. I hope we get something with this soon. I'd love to have a cd of all Weissenborn-types and the Hindustani guitar. It could even have a cute name like Brozman Gets Wood. =)

  • As you like the Hindustani slide guitar you will be pleased to know that I have just posted 4 tracks from Bob Brozman's concert in Luton last week. Two of the tracks are Chaturangui pieces! Amazing!

  • Thank you!

  • this is the best thing i've ever seen. ever.

  • I'm inclined to agree. Wonderful video.

  • I think his talent stems from the accident involving radioactive waste he had as a child, that , or maybe , practice.
