If you say Tele, I think of Fender - SX is surely the cheaper solution, a student of mine has one, but he wants to change the pups (to Seymour Duncan, van Zandt, Lindy Fralin), but it will still be a cheap chinese clone, so for this money you get the REAL THING, even the Squires and the mexican ones (especially the Blacktop) are good value - it depends how much you want to spend - I hope I could help and keep on pickin'..!

Why do people say the robot is so much better? I've tried one and they are CRAP. it takes forever to tune if its out of tune and with the vg it takes 1 sec. plus you get more sounds out of a vg than a robot so why did they stop making the vg strat?

it prob was reliable. i am a fender fan, but i have to admit that gibsons robot technology was 100 times better. the thing id hate about this guitar is the way you need batteries. i dunno how the robot guitar works. id imagine it needs batteries too

This guitar is 200 times better than any Gibson instrument. Way more functionality and much less expensive. Gibson sells their guitars for way too much. All the Robotic Guitar can do is a few tunings. This thing has Acoustic, Strat, Tele, Gibson all in one.

yes, as a musicain (failing lol) i dont have the cash to fork out for a good accoustic and enough guitars to cover everything, let alone the 12 string versions. This guitar is vital as far as im concerned for anyone who values versatility at the expense of sound qaulity. sure it wont be as good as a real tele or as good as a real gibson, ibo, or whatever but i ant afford all these guitars so having this guitar is a great studio and live tool purely for versatility.

i just bought a VG from GC, $999. I asked about your question. They told me Fender has a surplus, so they are temporarily discounting them. He hadn't herd of them being discontinued. A must say, its a impressive guitar

can somebody help me out . the wires got disconnected and i got it all taken care of but im pretty sure that each knob worked independently...now the T knob only works when i use the M knob....???? was it always like that ?

The tuning knob only works on the digital guitar models, so if you've bypassed them on the M knob (ie, when you're using only the magnetic p/ups), the T knob won't do anything. That's the main reason there's a modelled Strat, even though you have the magnetic pickups.

Buyer beware; battery suckage !!

I returned the VG Strat. after only two gigs. Fender needs to put in a killswitch to prevent the Roland system from being engaged while you use the reg. Strat, as it is, the battery stays on the entire time; thus, they wear out by the end of your first set; this happend to me .... twice ! Also, put in better tuning options like open A and E as well as the G; who uses DADAGAD tuning? Fender, take my above advice for the VG II.

You were fortunate to be able to return the guitar after 2 gigs: here in Australia-once you've gigged it, you own it.

By the way, I love to play in DADAGAD tuning, but maybe that's because I own a seven string VG.

Well, there is the Roland Strat sound and the alnico pickups REAL strat sound. If you have the Roland part turned off, you are using the regular pickups and the blue light goes off. When the blue light goes off, your battery is not being used. Seems odd that a battery would wear out in a few hours, anyway... sure doesn't happen with pedals or active pickups, so if you had the blue light OFF, maybe something is wrong with your batteries. Did you buy them from a guy on the subway for $1?

No, the robot guitar mechanically tunes the guitar by itself. The VG digitally simulates the tuning.

i will tell you i have never been a strat fan, but i bought one of these, and yes it is amazing. The tele is not bad, the humbucker is pretty damn amazing. and the strat mode, is a warmer strat basically. and the regular pups are well, a us strat. the tunings are awesome and work quite well. People complain, but they don't know how to use them!!

theres a strat in my house. its older than me. picked it up. fell in love with the sound of single coils. but u kinda need a humbucker tone in there. thats why i wud buy this guitar over one of the originals
