I think it is a mistake for faithful Catholics to leave a wayward parish. In fact, that parish would need faithful Catholics all the more. So please, if you happen to be at a parish like this, take it as an incentive to get involved somehow. Form a group, get involved in apologetics. Apologetics ministries are great because they inform and teach Catholics about their faith, and they prepare them to contend for it.
The teaching that even Satan will be saved in the last judgment is known as apokatastasis, universal salvation. Although St. Gregory of Nissa taught this teaching, it has never been the official teaching of the Church.
What is the process for correcting a Priest? If a Priest is ordained and the power structure of the Church seems to protect them how can humble tax collectors and sinners hope to receive redemption through these Priests. Perhaps once the Religious get their house in order the true power of the Novus Ordo will rebuild the Catholic Church. Until then beware the teachings of Men......The Lord warned us of this. Do not be deceived.
I would certainly have advised this woman: Go to another parish! You'll get used to the Latin Mass quickly and it will be a relief to your soul. Transforming parishes as single parishioners is just about impossible. It's easier to be in touch with the folks in the parish, but attending a liturgy that feeds your soul!
Being a candidate for deaconate formation, I can see how this kind of thing can happen.. The wives are always in there own little formations within their own deacon wives circles.. My wife does not want anything to do with this kind of formation because she says,"Your the one becoming the deacon, not me." I guess some wives even get jealous of husbands when they are preaching because they figure they should be the ones preaching.. Wife formation is suppose to keep the husband and wife together
Wooooow... that's just messed up. Thank you for sharing this! It really makes me realize just how fortunate I am to attend two parishes that both have faithful priests!
Well i checked. Yeah it says there pretty clear that only an ordained person(man) can give homily. Nun's wows don't make her ordained but just a member of a religious order. Right?
Another great Vortex. To the author's question as to whether they should attend a Latin Mass; if there is one nearby, I would strongly encourage you to. We have been going for over two years. Once you've become accustomed to the Latin Mass, the Novus Ordo Mass is a real shock to your senses. But I agree, we all need to chip in and correct these kinds of abuses whether in the Ordinary or Extraordinary form. Not that there are any abuses in the Extraordinary Form or anything. :P
Hey, I can beat that.......On the 5th Sunday of Lent we had a Rabbi give the Homily. He had salient points, BUT IT'S NOT THE FORUM FOR THEM DURING THE MASS!
As a matter of Fact my thought was, If that's how you think, then why are you still Jewish?
Incredible. In the early Church even Origen - for all his good intentions - was in heresy for his belief in universal salvation. Apparently it is the fault of the bishops (back to the early 60s) that the American Church has been dumbed down to its current low level. As a Catholic I am grateful that I was able to attend an Orthodox theological school, am very much indebted to St.Vladimir's Seminary for the solid education it provided me.
This reminds me of a recent homily I heard in the diocese. The priest said that before the Ascension, Christ was with the Church physically. But now, the Church "has Christ in the Holy Spirit".
No mention was made of Our Lord being present in the Seven Sacraments, and especially in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar!
For the rest of the homily it was on how important it was for Catholics to be nice to everyone, and to get along with everyone else.
Maybe this lady should inform her bishop about this outrageous situation in her parish. We've got many problems with Novus Ordo in Poland, but I never heard about situation like this before. Priests are very conservative here. If they allowing any errors in the service it's fault of their ignorance rather than a liberal, modernistic agenda.

it's in the Bible that the demons wouldn't be redeemed.

In our Parish, a seminarian is giving the homily. Is that okay?

@pepper72375 Check the document from the Vatican - but off-hand I would have to say "no" unless he is a Deacon.
