  • It's you. Scooby Doo is an adaptation of a Chopin melody.

  • This sounds like Ska to me. Had this 45 when i was a kid. No idea how hip it was.

  • A colorized clip with the stereo track.

  • the turnout to see these guys seems to be just 2!

  • COOL SONG !

  • What year did "Simon Says" come out on by 1910 Fruitgum?

  • @McIntoshStereo1 Early 1968.

  • Is it me or does it sound a lot like the Scooby Doo Where are you theme?

  • @OxBigly2010 I believe they may have recorded that theme song.

  • @OxBigly2010 I have wondered this before!

  • What clip was this from?

  • Comment removed

  • You bet I remember the Viet Nm War....I was there myself!

  • tell me this dont cheer you up turtle eny

  • Scooby SO got their riff!

  • Not in the history or all pop music was there ever a song more "bubble gum" than this. Ok, maybe "Yummy Yummy Yummy."

  • FURPURR...BG STARTED IN THE 60S , NOT THE 50S..IWAS BORN IN THE 50S IT WAS ALL ROCK& ROLL!!!!!! DO UR RESEARCH DUDE!!!!!1

  • This was for little kids when it came out. Do not take it serously!

  • The drummer is the coolest looking one-looks a bit like a 60's Johnny Depp.

  • love this song wheres the band group from?

  • Bubble gum song but it sounds good and you can dance to it

  • in japan this kind of music is as highly rated as classical music is in this country

  • THIS MUSIC WAS CALL BUBBLEGUM MUSIC IT DIDNT LAST TO LONG

  • @09bnunez actually it did. from the 50s thru the 70s. i'd call that "long". ;)

  • The Guitar Player on the Far right at 41 Seconds, What ever he has been on , GIVE ME SOME. lol

  • looks like ray davis of the kinks & austin powers on bass lol

  • 懐かしい!中学生の頃、よく友達と歌っていました

  • 60s Bubblegum Rock!

  • Takes me back to a simpler time, when there were no computers, 2 car families, Just a carefree world! what Happened?

  • @RDK860 Carefree world? Remember the Vietnam war?

  • @RDK860 I blame those two shadow people in the foreground.

  • Anyone know the name of the lead singer in this video? Also what member is Frank Jeckell?

  • @thrillofthechase3313 Lead singer is Mark Gutkowski, who is playing the organ. I believe that Frank Jeckell is the one making the goofy faces.

  • @MrMoo1cow I believe the face maker is a very young Pat Karwan. There are recent videos of his amazing guitar work here on Youtube.

  • @bobbyshermanfan Okay, I wasn't sure...I just knew that Pat Karwan and Frank Jeckell were the guitar players. But yeah, I have seen some of Pat's videos and he is a superb guitarist! It's too bad that he isn't more well-known. I'd love to see/hear him play live!

  • breaking up *IS HARD TO DO*

simple simon says put your hand on your head and thats *NOT VERY HARD TO DO*

  • I love the ol' slick your hair down on one side look of the Sixties. I mean just spit on your hand, slap it down, and youre good to go.

  • Childhood memories.

  • sounds alot like the hokie pokie

  • yeah,fuck those swearers...whoops!...hey,I was in the Navy,don't I get a break?

  • These guys look like they all found jobs at microsoft.

  • These guys look like serial killers !! Maybe thats why theres only two people in the audiance !!

  • scary band

  • i couldnt tell what it was , but ate it anyway lol

  • i love this song

  • I think those boys are now working at Pep Boys installing Kumho tires.

I know I saw one dude working the fry cutter at In and Out Burger

  • Simple song but so good

simple songs today written by simple people totally different...

  • Actually the list of former members is inaccurate. The 1st replacement drummer was Dave Peckerman. Jerry Roth and Ralph Cohen both play horns in the end. Some guys on the list must of been there a very short time, but Chuck Travis and Rich Gomez are valid.

    F Marcus

  • chucha....que recuerdossssssssss de cuando era chico..la cag....

    temazo!!!

  • Danny Bonaduce had a twin brother @.35

  • this song sucks ass

  • 1910 Fruitgum Company ......was found on a sweet wrapper...hense the name

  • This must be where the term " bubblegum music " came from ? its good , but "Hello

    Goodbye " was better , a lot better !

  • Letting all fans know. the following is from a New Jersey paper. " The group produced three gold records, starting in 1968 with the first single release "Simon Says," "1-2-3 Red Light" and "Indian Giver." The 1910 Fruitgum Company was reunited in 2001 by the originators of the group, Frank Jeckell, and Mick Mansueto."

Mansueto is not an originator of the group. You can use your imagination as to why this has been added to the band bio.

    Sincerely,

F Marcus (Original drummer and member)

  • @djhot1 Original Members Floyd Marcus Frank Jeckell Pat Karwan Mark Gutkowski Steve Mortkowitz

  • oh wow- i havent heard this in ages!

  • I have this 45 ...This song brings back found memories dancing with my nanny Barbra in England as a kid

  • Derided by pompous 'serious musicians' at the time. This is perfect 60's 'Bubblegum Pop', bringing back memories of fairground 'waltzer' rides, long hot summers, and a catalogue of perfect sixties Buddah label pop. A classic!

  • Macarana of the 60's

  • Io adoravo questo complesso nel 1968 e mi piaceva tantissimo il ragazzo col cappello in testa.

Che bei tempi, sono una nostalgica!

  • thank you for this video :)

  • This song always reminded me of the Scooby Doo 70's TV theme song.

(Or was it the other way around?)

  • "THE LIONEL MESSIS BAND"

  • i remember this, i was about 9-10 lol x

  • back in the early 1970s i had an lp called stewpots pop party ( not kidding) and this was one of the songs on it, very strange album with party songs and intos by ed stewart

  • So this is what these guys looked like- hehehe!!

  • It's highly unlikely that a one hit wonder late `60`s American group were the genesis for an English game which has existed for hundreds of years.

  • What has happened to these guys. Are they all still aroun?. Are the still playing their music? Brings back so much childhood memories just listening to them. They dont sing likes these guys nowadays anymore.

  • awful

  • I'd never heard of this crap. But I'm reading a Bill O'Reilly book and he said he hated this, so I Googled it and sure enough, crap like this was getting its shot back then just like sluts like Lady Ga-Ga are getting their undeserved shots nowadays.

  • That guy at 0.40 lookis like he is saying "for god sake hurry up I have a bad case of the craps"

  • @Richpete001 They're faking it to the record. There's a video on here of The Boxtops doin' "The Letter" to the record and the keyboard is clowning like "WTF, no hands mom!?!"

  • Austin Powers on Bass

  • @specifictender Yeah I know, nerd of All Time!

  • did this song create the children's game?

  • "Did this song create the childrens game?" English language and culture fail, all around

  • No it was inspired by it!

  • i remember all of this

so makes me want to go back

    to 1966/

    Earl

    Captainduke71

remember the bus to the roller rink

  • Love the bass and clapping and that distinct organ fun amusement park sound.

  • Oh gosssh the drummer is lovely. :D

  • love the bubblegum stuff

  • @salvavegna

After 30 some years I am still chewing :-)

  • These guys are entertaining(Austin Powers on Bass)Fender instruments well represented,...Looks like a strat,P-Bass and a Jaguar or Jazzmaster...wish young people playing music had half the enthusiasm, everything is so dark and depressing anymore.Bubble Gum is a good thing!!!

  • Lead singer looks like Eli Manning

  • Great hit by Elliot Chiprut! His song Dedications to All We Know is also on youtube....sung by the Spice of Life.

A fun little ditty with a catchy melody, also from the 60's. :-D

  • this is great what happened to our innocents! its time for a comeback of innocents.

  • pretty crap

  • CLAP YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR??? YA BABY!!

  • I don't believe I watched this as a kid.

  • Never saw this group perform their hit song until now. Thank you! 10+ stars! WHAT FUN!

  • We learnt a dance to this song in 4th grade. It was called the Madison. Basically, the movements were the same as for the Nutbush ( done to Tina Turner's song ).

  • Wow dynasue, you brought back 4th grade 45 spinning memories waiting for the late bus(us kids closer to the school)all the girls taught us guys(who were willing)dances and we learned alot about eachother early.Tina was the best dancer and had tattered jeans and bare feet.Tommy James,Ohio Express,1910 and Sweet....4th grade was 1973-74 for me.Thanks for your comment,it struck a note!! oxox Steve BTAF

It's the school-age Austin Powers as shown in Goldmember. :)

  • That's my adoptive/step dad. Steven Mortkowitz.

And that is the best description of him EVER.

  • I would love to see DEVO do a cover of this song. No problem for Mark- he could just be himself.

  • I wonder if they know the original Scooby Doo Theme. It certainly would fit.

  • We used to get the little kids to follow along on this. Younger kids love doing this as a group, and the adults also have fun along with the kids.

  • great

  • my sister used make do this dance when i was a kid,she used to av her mates round smokeing weed and i had to dance

  • I went to High School with them and it's great to hear them again. Don't remember them having such funny hair and suits though.

  • Wow, it's in stereo (or my headphones are not working properly)

  • Che emozione riascoltarla! I ricordi della nostra favolosa gioventù sono anche in questa musica...

  • Well, I still like moving to this, but it's getting tough having to re-activate that air-conditioner!

It's like being in third grade again.

  • Can't beat Bubble-Gum songs like this because they came from a time when things were simpler and made more sense. Thanks so much for sharing it!

  • It's a shame you can barely hear the lead singer, this a great song.

  • does anyone think this kinda sounds like the scooby doo theme?

  • The bass player's my new hero.

  • Ah, i agree when music was really music with no swearing whatsoever. ^_^ I love this song. Reminds me when i was in preschool and elementary school. ^~^

Thank you so much for fond memories. :)

  • I love this music, tanx

  • Third Grade, 9 years old, and I thought it was a kid's song! The teacher had us doing all the moves. I thought it was a kid thing. Hahahaha! A classic memory.

  • same here...

  • Warning: Do not listen to it more than once before bedtime. That thing kept me awake running through my head for twelve straight hours.

But, as my Dad said, "Lighten up! Have some fun!" Well, I still move to it, but when the landlord has the furnace up too high, I sweat doing all the moves.

  • Baa-baa-baa-baa...yes I agree too.

  • when music was really music. Thank you!

  • i think i worked with the lead guitar player in the group,,,back in the

    90's, at,

  • I remember this song & group. They were pretty good. I have their Indian Giver 45. Had no idea about the various lineups in this group. Interesting info...

  • Fan**&&** Tastic.........

  • aaaaaaaahaha lol tight.

  • wow! Loved this song then, love it more now.

  • wow, the first wiggles.

  • I was 6 years old too. I never knew what they looked like. The guy on the far right is playing a jazzmaster. I have one identical to it.

  • i was 6 years old and i loved this song...they look sooooo funny now!

  • It's a totally different band from the "1-2-3 Redlight" clip except for Mark Gutkowski, the organist and singer. Of course, that's how it was in the studio too. In fact, "Goody Goody Gumdrops" was a totally different band altogether and didn't even feature Gutkowski singing.

  • I had the 45 of this when I was a kid! I lvoe this song!

  • Can you redo the video? You "ate" the first four notes.

  • This song is flat-out CONTAGIOUS!

  • I was 10, I remember it like yesterday.

  • The guy playing the Jaguar and making the faces, man. It's like Kurt Cobain from the 60's.

  • That's what I was thinking...although he must have got the idea from John Lennon....

  • His sole job in this video was to act like an idiot.

Ruined what would have been an allright video.

  • Such great memories

  • Oh my God,I remember when these songs were new!

  • Write their names on their helmets, they won't be around long enough for you to learn them...Tet "68

  • I don't know why this song make me feel like The Archie mix with Lulu :( mayb this guy look n sound too innocent...

  • Peyton Manning was the lead singer for Fruit Gum? Who knew?

  • THATS FUNNY. He does look like him.

  • Their music was so bad that it was actually great!!!!!!

  • Austin Powers is rockin' that bass.
