i am very surprized by all the pro Dinesh cheering..i lived in Boulder and went to school there, it was very progressive and not the least bit religious...these idiots in the audience must be from the Denver(and Colo Springs--Focus on the Family etc.) area.
@trexx32 true the rest of the state is much like the midwest but Boulder is a very unique progressive place...full of pot smoking hippies and scientists. The Dinesh fan club must be from Denver or other parts of that area,,,Nebraska, WY, UT, etc...surely not Boulder...but hey i could be wrong.
If the Genesis story is in fact a mythological metaphor for the creation of the universe, at what point are we supposed to take the Bible literally. Is it not more likely that the new interpretation of Genesis is nothing more than spineless backtracking, attempting to give reason to a laughable account of the origin of the universe that otherwise would destroy the bible's infallibility.
"not just because hes a boring fat dunce and so on.." I sometimes wish there was a god and Hitchens was made in his image, so then that would make god really bad ass
The quality of these extra-christian sourses Dinesh sites are very poor indeed. He makes it sound to an uninformed audience (hopefully they are not) that these are great sourses of verification of the christian story. They are not.
As soon as you do NOT take the entire bible literally, do you not throw almost every argument for the bible's contents out the window? How does Dinesh decided what to take literally or not? What is this independent criteria that he is using?
Oh... reason and logic apply to morality?. Well then there's no reason to not believe that NONE of the bible can be taken literally and it's all symbollic, metaphore, and philosophy.
This is fantastic... because it's outdated and backwards. Move on.
YAY! There IS NO NONE ZILTCH ZERO Josephus is a forgery, the other's refer to christ, which means annoited one, not a name. Saying he was real just for the follwers is like saying Thor was reall because people believed him! OR Apollo!
You cannot compare the historicity of Jesus with other historical figures because who he is is intrisically tied up with what he is.
I have no problem accepting that there may have been a rather odd preacher called Yahuweh who came to believe that he was the son of God. However, we must separate, or at least acknowledge the distinction between Jesus the man and Jesus the God. One may have been a real person, the other, a plagarized pagan myth.

Indeed, there's a huge difference between a historical jesus and the jesus of the bible, who's the son of god.

Lots of evangelical delusionists in the audience.

There is something about an audience that makes it cheer stupid ideas, I guess that is what made Hitler successful.

"How does Dinesh decided what to take literally or not?"-
He has the superior intellect exclusively reserved to all who are legends in their own minds.

Dinesh doesn't even know how to pronounce Suetonius. Doesn't bode well.
