I am a 15 year old student attending high school and I did watch this speech last month. Now, I'm no Obama supporter at all, I don't support left wing politics, however he spoke simply of children working hard in doing school. Saying things like "If you fail in school, you're also letting your country down", etc.

It is not within the President's province to address students directly because the presidency is fundamentally a political office and Obama's purpose was not to tell you to "stay in school," which is just a boilerplate platitude, but to get you on his side politically, especially against your parents. I can assure you if Bush addressed all the schools of the US re: the war on terror, your teachers would have yelled bloody murder. This is about politics and indoctrination, not education.
