Okay, in theory Slayer is better than Slipknot. They've had more of an impact on the metal genre. I personally like Slipknot better just because I don't like Tom Araya's singing. However Slayer has much better instrumentalists.

They expanded musically quite a bit. Their riffs have a lot more complexity and feeling, but yet they maintain a sound that's unique to Slipknot.

I really like the transitions between Corey's scream and his clean vocals, it makes him a lot more flexible with vocals.

I don't think they've lost anything since Iowa, even though it was their best album. I think it's just oriented in a more musical direction, and it's fucking sick.

I hate when people compare Slipknot and Stone Sour. They're styles are COMPLETELY different. If there's a Slipknot song with melodic vocals people go nuts. I actually like this album a lot. They combined Vol 3 and Iowa to form a super album. It's pretty cool, and I love the addition of more guitar solos. Slipknot, you've exceeded my expectations once again. Well done!

You're one of maybe four people in the world who actually thinks Vol 3 is the best. I think their debut is their best so far. Vol 3 was too soft, and Iowa lacked powerful melodies. I have yet to decide how I rate this album. This is their first album where there is no bad song, but I have trouble picking out a truly exceptional song. The debut had Wait and Bleed, Iowa had Left Behind, and Vol 3 had Before I Forget. I have yet to decide what All Hope Is Gone's best song is.

Before I Forget is one of those songs that really is quite good, but is horribly overrated. I personally like Duality and Pulse of the Maggots the best on that album. Their debut is undoubtably their best work. You can't beat Wait and Bleed, Eyeless, and (sic). Spit it Out is also pretty cool.
