  • Mullen was so much more natural than anyone else. He had a flow about his sessions that made it look like he was just having fun. Welinder was good but Mullen was a genius.

  • mullens combos are always very fast and on point and never ending this dude is some what slow and messes up and has less precision i dont see how he beat him even the one time. but he still has some pretty hard freestyle tricks i hadnt seen before.

  • I know him and didnt know he skates until i read a book on tony hawk and he waz in it

  • Wow no wonder everyone knows mullen and not him. He couldve put me to sleep with that boring dance off only one or 2 tricks caught my eye and he slipped up a couple times

  • i like it it looks like hes dancing :D

  • I would do anything for that balance..

  • I just realized that the "exciting movie with street style skating, a car chase and some jumps and stuff" is Back to the Future! This was the guy that was Michael J. Fox's stunt double for the complex skate scenes.

  • wow look how far the design of vans shoes has evolved over the years! thats rad, back then i wore vision street wears and airwalks! yes airwalks used to be good skate shoes! lol cool memories

  • Great He had control over the board

  • oldschool skating always looks like a dancing routine to me

  • whoa whoa whoa, steve rocco was up next and you leave that shit out?

  • those fukking socks bro ... lose the socks

  • mad respect and all, don't get me wrong... but man, this style is fucking brutal, back in the days when people were trying to make skating a ballet or figure skating er something

  • so is per the only guy to do a tv stand ?

  • @HAPPYxBANANAxCAKES34 they say, but i saw a guy at the german freestyle contest this year do it who was actually 15 years old.

  • mullen got beat by him once when mullen had father issues and was really ill and skated off and PER got 1st instead of 2nd to mullen this time.

  • This footage is golden!

  • no doubt i dont think ive ever seen mullen miss a trick in competition

  • awesome

  • Wow Pretty Cool, Nordic skull deck.

  • some of rodneys and pers tricks look very similar but rodney was always better :p

  • No doubt...after not seeing them for years and now watching videos of them, Rodney is clearly better and more technical not to mention lands every trick perfectly. Per misses quite often for someone of his talent level.

  • I like that footwork trick from 1:41 to 1:47 :P

  • What is the name of the second song? Sounds like some really awesome early techno. Please help if you know!

  • ABC - How To Be A Millionaire

  • That was a great run.

  • wow it think my favorite park in the video was when Per Welinder did a handstand truckstands

  • isn't per from sweden? reply me plz

  • He was born in Stockholm, Sweden

  • ok...i'm swede..and now i'm alot prouder:)

  • Yes, he is.

  • some people dont like per's footwork. personally, i love it!

  • wow imagine of all those oldschoolers took it to our new boards like Rodney did....i think we can still learn alot from watching them...and Rodney is best ever haha

  • dont forget he was in thrashin the movie

  • what's the name of the song?

  • There are two songs. The first one is "this is radio clash" by the clash. I dont know the second

  • thanx

  • i like his bones brigade shirt

  • if you listen to what he's saying in the beginning he's talking about him being the stunt double for Michael J. Fox aka Marty McFly in Back to the Future. When he is skitching on the back of the car and ollies over the bushes thats all Per. Street and freestyle!

  • wow:O //johanna

  • You can see Per Welinder in the movie "Thrashin" from 1986 with Josh Brolin. He is doing freestyle and then talks some swedish with "Corey".

  • street is more for maniacs who like jumpin down shit , this style shows skill n1 x

  • cooooool

  • that guy actually did beat rodney mullen one time and is the only one that ever has

  • he only beat rodney because he had the flu.

  • @stevenadler It was nothing epic. Mullen dropped a rail, and per didnt miss any tricks in his run. It was that simple. Other than that Mullen has the most successful first place competition record out of anyone in almost any sport worldwide period. There will never be another.

  • what happened to that style... it makes the modern skating style look so BORING!

  • that was insane

  • If you skate you gotta watch these mad old school tricks period.

  • April, 1985 - Del Mar. I rented this video from the skateshop in the '80's and never returned it - still have it. I'm going to post the contest footage of Hawk/Hosoi/others from it soon.
