@zeraven7 when starting the game you should got to options and set them to default... that should help

You don't have to give him all of your stuff, just dropping your armors on the ground. After, he has given you the robe, You can pick them all back up before fellowing him to the shrine. At 0:44, he should has got only your gold and any of your rings with him.

Dropping all your armors on the ground, before he come to talk to you. Let him take any gold and rings, if you has them with you. You can pick up your armors, after he has finishes talking with you, like at 0:41 on this video. Yes, when you kill him, take them back and some of his stuff. Hope that help.
