There is nothing wrong about an animal attacking a hunter. Animals can not commit crimes, and you shouldn't be trying to harm them in the first place. That is the difference.

where at in ohio? We are in ohio as well and are going to dedicate a day to coyote hunting. They are getting over populated. My husband and I called in an 8 point white tail, after shooting the buck we tracked him for about 45 minutes while listening to the coyote howls. By time we got there they had already ate him down to the bone on the hind end as well as on the face. The only thing my husband could do was shoot in the air to scare them off. They ran about 75 yards and watched us..scary

However, I AM against culling, indiscriminate hunters, and animals that are not taken for food. Part of my job is to kind of patrol the net looking for animal cruelty, abuse, poaching, and to "watch-dog". Just a teeny drop in the bucket of what I do for my job. We're working very hard right now to outlaw predatory trapping, which is legal year round here. :(

@JuStPlAiNDaNEjA I live in Kentucky too. My neighbors own sheep and chickens, and they complain all the time about them. I heard they put Habanero Chili Powder around the coops and stables. When they start sniffing around... they smell it and go running for the hills. You can keep it out there for a good 2-3 days unless it rains, then ya have to put it out again. You can get it at any food store. Hope this helps =)

@howiuhfowerf Well, here in Canada coyote hunting is almost completely unregulated and promoted. You can shoot as many as you want, almost anytime except during 2 or 3 months when they are raising pups.
No tags or anything, they are considered pests by the DNR. They destroy the deer and moose population. They also started attacking people lately.

are coyotes big game or small game? i was looking in the 2010-2011 issue of the official guide to laws and regulations of new york and it didnt say anything about if theyre small game or big game
when they chased me up a tree it felt horrible. I'm so used to being at the top of the food chain and here i was stuck up a tree by a pack of ravonous coyotes. They looked at me like I look at a taco. I had a sickening feeling in my stomach. No way in hell I was coming down from that tree. They whined like cute normal dogs for me to come down and tried to convince me they just wanted me to pet them. Like I had forgotten about them chasing me a quater mile in the woods and up a tree.

It's quite obvious to me that you didn't read my last post thoroughly. I am NOT anti-hunting, so don't get your panties in a bunch. Just because I happen to work for an animal rights group doesn't mean I'm a "hippie". Nor does it mean I'm a crazy liberal, vegan fruitcake, anti-hunter. @18iscoming4you - Coyotes are pests because they ARE such clever predators. Believe it or not, I'm NOT anti-hunting. However, I AM against culling, indiscriminate hunters, and animals that are not taken for food. Part of my job is to kind of patrol the net looking for animal cruelty, abuse, poaching, and to "watch-dog". Just a teeny drop in the bucket of what I do for my job. We're working very hard right now to outlaw predatory trapping, which is legal year round here. :(

@TonyMeoli u might think there just dogs but there not in fact dogs r part of there food source,they r getting out of control and taking over everything not just livestock now. the deer herds have deminished and the turkey population is slim to none and coyotes are the main predator. we dont kill them for just a thrill we kill to keep things at a balance. next time ur out in the woods hugging ur trees and wondering where all the animals are its not becuz hunters have killed them off

@JuStPlAiNDaNEjA I live in Kentucky too. My neighbors own sheep and chickens, and they complain all the time about them. I heard they put Habanero Chili Powder around the coops and stables. When they start sniffing around... they smell it and go running for the hills. You can keep it out there for a good 2-3 days unless it rains, then ya have to put it out again. You can get it at any food store. Hope this helps =)

@howiuhfowerf Well, here in Canada coyote hunting is almost completely unregulated and promoted. You can shoot as many as you want, almost anytime except during 2 or 3 months when they are raising pups.
No tags or anything, they are considered pests by the DNR. They destroy the deer and moose population. They also started attacking people lately.

when they chased me up a tree it felt horrible. I'm so used to being at the top of the food chain and here i was stuck up a tree by a pack of ravonous coyotes. They looked at me like I look at a taco. I had a sickening feeling in my stomach. No way in hell I was coming down from that tree. They whined like cute normal dogs for me to come down and tried to convince me they just wanted me to pet them. Like I had forgotten about them chasing me a quater mile in the woods and up a tree.
