In SH4 it depends on what they are haulin if it is freight then it takes a like around 7 torpedoes if it is ammunition then 2 torpedoes would do and if it is fuel then one torpedo can kill it it also depends on where the torp hits the ship.

hay, I use the T2 torpedoes only, and I seem to get alot of duds. Is that just a characteristic of the T2 or is it because I usually play on realistic.

@UserRelated Probably because you play on realistic, I get the same thing, apparently quite a few of the torpedoes used on the U Boats were duds in WWII. I havent yet tried manual targeting as only getting used to the controls etc but its happened a few times. Ends up being a 'Will it, wont it' moment lol

Maybe it was after all appropriate for a Youtube video to use a torpedo but in normal game, being economic with weapons is very important because there will be LOTS of targets to sink per every patrol. That is what I was trying to say.

the best way is to put a small tanker to rest, is to set torpedo depth to 0, set speed to medium or fast, open tube (Q), click on weapon officer and click solution to target, wait until the sub is about 2km and fire. Simply set back and enjoy the fire works lol

In SH4 u have an addon for it its called U boat ..Everything is added, and then u can switch between us or German campaigns..No to mention far out graphics on SH4 .....SH5 coming out this year..

Well I stil think the camPAIN in SH4 is way worse. You end up doing stupid things like going all the way into a sub base just to take pictures! I am excited for SH5 though. It sure looks like fun, I just hope there is some interface, rather than total first-person stuff. One thing I'd look forward to is underwater topography ie. casms, mountains, rifts etc.

That flag is called the red ensign (a flag flown by British Merchantmen) since it is mostly red but the union jack is stuck in the upper corner of it. If you look REAL closely in the video (try fullscreen), you can barely make out the union jack in the upper left hand corner of the flag (around 0:43.) Either way, the Red Chinese flag was not designed/adopted until 1949

There is one golden rule for good hit if you fire torpedoes from surface ship or sub.

Always aim at area before moving ship but never at ship direct unless you have acoustic torpedoes.

It's take time to asset proper distance for firing but in time it's easy to catch correct best timer for successfull hit.

One of strategic moves, is to sink the enemys supply ships.... so if the radar shows a ship with RED collor, that means that its enemys ship.... so SINK IT!!!! :D

Different. Different ships, different theater of operations, different sides...I find that Silent Hunter 3 + Grey Wolves eXpansion (this one is free) is the best when it comes to my taste on submarine warfare simulators.

Silent Hunter 4 lacks that sense of despair you get while sailing on a Uboat on 1943 and beyond. Its really challenging surviving from mid to the end of the war, and even more challenging to keep a nice tonnage ratio.
