I have Tried Many Different methods, Been Shown By Numerous people and Still Had Problems Getting The Net to Open Up. I just Watched Your Video And It worked Like A Charm Five Times In a Row! No More Sabiki Rig! You Just Changed My Life! Thank You!
i live in new orleans and cast for shrimp a lot, when the time is right, I use a 8'and 10' net and from my comfort i put the lead line between my teeth. I can throw it without biting but i have to switch hands and my consistency isnt the same. and the funny part im cuban and havent herd this method til now.
Wow that's a great cast, but unfortunately down here in South Florida "Cuban Style" means to cast net all kinds of fish without a license until you have several 5 gallon buckets full and then leave before the FWC shows up. It's appalling.
@EVETT23 I have used EVERY brand out there, and the West Coast nets are by far the best when you take into account price and quality. You can pick from their 3 models; Magnum, True spread, and Classic. They ALL are made of superior silk like mono. The Magnum is the most affordable and the lightest at 1 lb. of lead per foot. The True Spread is 1-1/4 lb, and Classic is 2lb. I would get the Magnum if price is important. i am using the True Spread in my videos. Hope this helps!-Mike
@shiiit08 - I think you might be a bit confused on how nets are sized. This is a 10 foot RADIUS net, which is a 20 foot DIAMETER net when opened. So you are watching it work with a "20" foot net right here. Unless you found a 40-50 foot net somewhere!
i watched a HOW TO THROW A 4 FOOT CAST NET a long time ago, the method is so effective, i now throw a nine foot cast net and it pancakes perfectly, i dont get wet, but its a method which involves using your teeth, if you dont want to use yoru teeth you put it over the lower half of your arm. basicly half the net is spread in each hand, then grab the piece between both halves in each hand, place it in your teeth, and yeh then throw without spinning or anything its pretty damn effective.
Thank you very much for this, i have struggled throwing consistently with other methods - this is by far the best for me, much easier, quicker and produces a near perfect circle every time.
Glad to see someone throw it they way I was taught in florida about 30 years ago. There are so many other methods but this one worked the best when I was 10 and 11 yrs old throwing heavy 12 and 14 footers. I used to kick butt with that method. I am buying a net this week . Thanks for the demo
Thanks for the demonstration on how to throw this net. I own a 10 foot Betts with 1 inch mesh. I've tried a number of different ways to throw it and this one definitely works best for me. So far we've loaded up on the bunker every time.
I'm out of Jamaica bay in NY. The bass bite is hot right now and what a relief knowing I can spend most of my time fishing and no snagging bait.
i went out and spent the extra money and bought me a net with the ring in it....trust me it was worth every extra dime...perfect throws every time..although I am impressed with your method
i cast basicly the same but the way i do it was taught to me in mexico, i through it over my shoulder like him but my ney is smaller and i can just through it in after that. i also skip messing with the rope
You Are the FLIPPING MAN! I'm going on a fishing trip and i might have to catch my on bait (depends on what's bitting) i have a small (6ft), what i like to call a "Just in Case" net and i haven't used in a LONG time but seeing you do this give me the confidence and throw that baby! Anyway would it be any different using a smaller lighter net?
Sorry I did not reply, I just noticed your question, My "Old School" method is a very easy way to throw a smaller net. Cuban works also, but I like the O. S. method for any net under 10ft. Thanks for the GREAT comment-Mike
hey man i saw your discussion with matthewsanchez and would like to say that it would be awesone if you would make a video on how you repair your cast nets because mine get torn all the time
Ancient cultures invent all these methods, europeans standardise them. im not sure if there is such word in english :)
it seems funny to watch ''how to do'' wideo for an ancient hunting method

@stripers182 have u tried the black pearl castnets?
redscarf11 5 months ago
Your method is ok with the 10' to 15' cast net but with the 20' to 25' cast net is imposible to cast.... I think.

method is super, maybe if you cast little lower, your circle would be at maximum spread at surface...i guess, thanks for posting
